Really great food, but they recently stopped serving gluten free options. I had an egg and some bacon, which was fine, but I was still feeling a little left out. My companions really enjoyed their waffles. read more

1- ordered the "fruit party" with extra strawberries. It came to the table with 5 sliced s-berries. when we informed the waitress that our extra berries were missing, she rudely informed us "that is extra berries", the fruit party comes with ONE ( a single) strawberry. Not a party in my book folks. 2. Lost my order (daily or weekly omelet), they had to scramble (literally). I ordered an omelet and received a scramble which the waitress brought to the table and TOUCHED the food to remove some unknown object from the plate. 3. The place is so cramped and popular, not sure why, people are crazy about trendy stuff in this part of Eugene, whether it's warranted or not. The servers should BRING the flatware with them when they deliver your food, rather than making the customer fight through arrogant Eugeners to get a fork or cup of coffee. 4. BAD LOCATION for the coffee, but I guess if it's a pain to get to, they save $$$. SUMMARY-BAD ATMOSPHERE, POOR FOOD (QUANTITY AND QUALITY), POOR SERVICE (THE MOST INSULTING OF ALL), the cashier was nice though. Why is this place popular? read more

I came here with my family of five one Sunday morning after my stepfather hearing about it. We got here and the place was packed with people. When I say "packed" i mean packed! All their tables are set up right next to one another so the seating is way too tight for comfort. The people eating looked like they were so uncomfortable having to eat so close to all the other families. We were shocked how their system was for ordering.... We had to order what our whole family wanted AT THE COUNTER!! On top of that, the girl at the counter did not even acknowledge our presence until after she finished talking to one of her co-workers and finished refilling one of the customers coffee cups. After all these negatives, we decided just to leave and never return because we figured this place did not deserve our money. We headed to The Glenwood and had a decent breakfast. read more

Eggos with turbinado sugar for $9. And I get to bus my table.

Solid with great counter service that is efficient and fast. BMB, Goat in the Headlights and today a special with pepper jelly, chopped bacon and spinach. Worked great. Try it! You will not be disappointed! read more

ok, so im going to be brutally honest here, i finally made it over to "off the waffle" and i wasn't entirely impressed. the waffles themselves were marvelous but the atmosphere not so much. there is only one real table to sit at and you walk in thinking that you're in a waiting room waiting to be seated to a real location. sadly they only had 2 types of waffles to offer and then it turned out they didn't have one of them. oddest of all, they serve the waffles in paper bags no plates, its as if they are selling street food and they don't expect you to stick around. But again, they did have great taste! read more

If u haven't been it's a must try. Unique waffles with amazing flavors. Got for the local favorites list on the menu. Place can be crowded but service is good read more

A waffle place with no syrup available, wow. Want more syrup than what your dish came with? Wait in line, pay 75 cents and wait another ten minutes -while your food goes cold- for a server to bring out a tiny little one ounce portion of maple syrup. And to top it off, the syrup was cold! read more

This place has really great waffles, let me tell you. I have been here twice and got "the beloved bully" both times, and it's spectacular. I came here with my dad today cause i thought it would be cool to try somewhere new-ish after church because i thought, hey, dad loves waffles, and they have amazing waffles. But we got there and looked in the window and outside and saw that there were literally ZERO tables and chairs vacant. And of course i was quick to think, well, my dad is probably the most impatient mofo anyone will ever meet in their lives. So i got worried that this whole day would pretty much be a disaster because of going out to effing breakfast. Of course, going to a waffle place at 10:30 on a sunday probably isn't the best of ideas, but still..? really. So we ordered and everything, and waited in the really tight lobby area, which is what my dad complained about. And it's true. I mean, it's good to have your place be busy, but not THAT bad where people actually have to sit awkwardly RIGHT by the door with no table and drink their little jar things of orange juice waiting for the gods of the tables to help them out. So basically, this place D E S P E R A T E L Y needs some sort of expansion, move to another building maybe. The people who work there are pretty cool hipstery/hippie ish people and are pretty nice. And the waffles are great. But having to wait a half an hour for a table AND a measly little waffle that isn't really filling, but tastes good, is really ridiculous and will drive people away. read more

People have been telling me to go here forever so I finally did. While the food was inventive, I am not sure it was worth the money and the service and atmosphere was just meh. I would have given it 2 stars, but for just having a wierd menu I gave it an extra star. Maybe I was too generous. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. I was completely embarrassed for them. The staff has no pride or work ethic. I cannot believe the owner has any idea how bad and slow the service is. The worst part is that we overheard the employees continually lie to approaching potential customers. The employees would tell people "I gotta level with you we just got through our rush so it is going to be between half an hour and an hour until you eat." All this while there was no rush and 1/4 of their tables empty. We saw nearly 30 people turned away in the hour we were there. We saw so many people who got past the "lazy employee lie" with puzzled looks on their faces wondering why it would take so long for a waffle and a piece of bacon. One day when the owner wonders why his/her restaurant failed; this is why: no management, lazy and slow employees. Oh and the food is not worth the wait. Never again. read more

Its been awhile since I've been to off the waffle, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the changes I noticed. Staff seems to be much more aware of wait times, and my food arrived perfect (as always.) I was served promptly and I know in the past wait time has been an issue, I also am someone who is very willing to wait a little longer for quality food which is why I've been more patient in the past, but to be able to have a full quality meal and not wait too long, it was the perfect mix. Staff was friendly and attentive, they seem to be running a much smoother kitchen. I haven't gone back yet to the other location but I will and I'm hoping to be able to write the same review for them as well. I got the goat in the headlights, such an amazing explosion of flavor. And I love the herbal tea selection. Top quality, stomach stuffing quantity. Very happy customer, very happy belly. read more

My goodness, I have such a craving for this place right now. I go every time I'd gone to visit my friend in Eugene. Last time, I bought a bag of frozen ones to bring home to LA. Now I'm in Houston and I want some. Can anyone overnight me a bag? There's five bucks in it for you. ^_^ read more

First time visit and was very dissappointed. The menu description was not what I received and when I questioned it was told basically that's the way it is. A small waffle with a few apple chunks on it and "apparently" gorganzola cheese which was not visable. My friend's meal was 50 cents more and she got a large waffle and and it looked great. I will spend the money to get what I want but will not be going to do that at Off the Waffle. Working at the University I will not be recommending it either. read more

Id Heard Raving and ranting about this Place. but ehh, ive made a better "liege" style wafle with a regular waffle iron, not even a belgian one like your supposed to use. in fact for 3 dollars plain, and what 6-8 dollars for any reasonable topping. i could have made my whole family a plate of waffles. but back to the story, so my friends had been telling me about this place, and being a person who appreciates a authentic "liege" waffle. and loves a sweet and savory sort of deal i went in. and i ordered a "cyclops the Greek" i think it had yogurt a egg and olives on it. not entirely sure really. well first off i walked in and couldn't find a damn menu. next thing, i stood in line for 15 minutes just to make my order at the cash register. then i had to stand for another 15 minutes until someone got out of a chair that i could sit in. i sat and observed the lack of activity for me to do as sat by myself. im guessing this restaurant is aimed towards yuppies and hipsters? cause that seemed to be the crowd in there. even the staff fit the profile. the floors were dirty, and its a self busing restaurant with very dirty looking bus bins. at this point after a 15 minute stand and another 5-10 minutes of sitting around. i noticed the rush had died down a fair bit. so i asked about how much longer the wait time would be. i was told it would be done soon. i then asked if i could get a cup of water. the lady at the cash register pointed me to the right. its a self serve. and the cups are mason jars. in my opinion that screams cheap. eventually after sitting for another 5 minutes (i guess it was soon) who i believe is the owner. being that he looks like the guy on the poster. comes out with my waffle. it looks pretty good. i did notice that he was wearing sandals. does that seem like reasonable professional footwear for a restaurant? im guessing he was working in the kitchen wearing them too, that just uncleanly and tacky. the food was pretty decent but one of the olives still had a pit in it, i almost broke my damn molar in half biting down on it i also noticed the lack of the pearl sugary crystalline balls in the waffle. that what makes the liege waffles so good. so at this point im frustrated and thinking about how i would of way rather waited a half hour at studio one or brails for a actually filling meal for a similar price. when i went to bus my own table i noticed that the bus bins were over flowing. the top 2 ones at least. there was a 3rd bottom one that had no dishes in it, so i figured i would put mine in there. as i was leaving a group of people asked me where the menus were and if they came to your table for orders. signs people. y'all need signs. or some sort of direction. i had heard good things about off the waffle, but it seems like its all hype from back when you ran it out of your house. i was thoroughly disappointed. and left hungry and 8 dollars poorer. -John B. read more

Best waffles I've ever had. The toppings are unusual but work really well. The only problem is that the servings can be a little small if you're starving, so it's a good idea to order an extra waffle on the side. read more

Unique, tasty gluten-free waffles and super friendly / engaging service. This was an exciting stop for someone in from Chicago, as there's no where there I can eat breakfast. Way to go off the waffle --- thanks for doing gluten free! read more

Dear owners: While your waffles are truly swoon-worthy and I'll gladly pay $2.75 for a piping hot original (although my teenage son could inhale three in five minutes), you MUST pay attention to the cleanliness of your shop! I've seen dive-y restaurants deep in the tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco that have cleaner floors than your new space on Willamette Street. My business partner visited on a different day and she was equally appalled. I really hope your business thrives in this location and goodness knows you are a welcome addition to the South Eugene scene!! But first things first...keep it clean, guys! read more

At least twice a month, I drive from Corvallis JUST to enjoy a wonderfully delicious Off the Waffle breakfast ("Goat in the Headlights" is my favorite!). I don't understand the snarky complaints from you Eugene folks. I'd love to see Off the Waffle ditch all of you Eugene whiners and re-locate to Corvallis where we would appreciate (and celebrate) their delightful Liege waffle creations! read more

I have only been to this location and I found it to be overly crowded with dirty tables. Good waffles but not worth the wait or trouble to get them. Waffles alone would get 5 stars but the rest of the experience would get only ONE star from me. Maybe I should try their other location. I walk by it occasionally and it looks much better. read more

These waffles are expensive, but totally worth every dime! The ingredients are high quality and well thought out.

First time at OTW, I was initially so skeptical. I had been told the food was to die for but the menu all sounds so weird. Got the "Hot Avo" and LOVED it. So good, and filling, and the woman helping us was very nice and friendly. slightly slow, but honestly not slow enough to be an annoyance and definitely worth the wait. can't wait to go back. read more

Cut their hours on half. Eliminated half the menu including drinks and allergen friendly options. Continuing to trend downhill. Avoid it, there are better options in Eugene. read more

I was really disappointed with my first visit here. The floor was so dirty and sticky my shoes were sticking to it. Half the tables in the place were dirty with no one sitting at them. Even thought the place was near empty it took nearly 45 minutes to get our food. The waffle and omelette were small and very dry, nearly burnt. I asked to have my meal remade and they absolutely refused. I will not go back here ever. read more

Eating at Off The Waffle is one of my favorite things to do in life. These waffles are like no waffle you've ever tasted. They're crisp, sugar crystals in the batter give them a nice crunch to them, while they remain moist on the inside and so flavorful my taste buds smile. My favorite waffle is the Goat in Headlights. Chevre, avocado, basil and a fried egg on top make this the best flavor combination ever. They're very filling, too. Yet after I finish my waffle, I want to order another one, just so I can taste it all over again. read more

Rather than worrying about extending your empire to Portland you might want to make sure that things are running smoothly in Eugene. Service was terrible this morning at the South Eugene location. Off the Waffle has always been a go to for weekend breakfast but after this morning it's not worth the frustration. Get your act together. read more

Let's face it. They're so good, you'll keep coming back for more, even though last week they told you they ran out of waffles. Ran out of waffles? Huh? An exciting blend of savory and sweet that will leave you forsaking the traditional waffle you've always known, but take warning that you should attempt trying these carefully crafted waffles with caution... When arriving to either location in Eugene you will generally see a bustling hungry crowd. Sometimes lined up out the door. Ambiance is open, clean and with friendly staff, that are often struggling to keep up with the volume. Seems as though their colleagues may not always be showing up, or inadequate product supply has been ordered, leaving them in a lurch to serve the crowd lined up at the cash register. With dozens of visits to these two restaurants in the last year, it could be stated that lack of planning is one of the biggest downfalls that you will have to cope with in order to experience some of the finest in waffle innovation. Due to the volume of customers, they often run out of ingredients for your waffle prior to arrival. You will stand in the long line, sit and wait for your waffle, get jazzed up on the bottomless coffee and hope they don't run out of the little things that matter like, creamer, coffee, clean utensils...even waffles! Expect excellent plating and presentation (hopefully it hasn't cooled off in the process of waiting for runners to bring your food). Despite the stated annoyances, people come back to Off the Waffle time and time again. The staff are friendly and greet you with a smile.. And let's face it, their waffles are dang good. So with a little more planning and preparation, these ratings will certainly change for the better. Overall, a great concept and restaurant that is developing. Bring your family, friends and out of town guests, but arrive early in the weekends, and certainly don't come if you're next to starving. You may annoy your breakfast date and everyone around you with your countless critiques of product supply and wait times. read more

I won a free "The Ol' Banana Split" waffle form a OTW contest on FB. Prior to winning, I had been wanting to try OTW but once showed up on a Saturday morning and was met with chaos; long line & wait, with no formal/structured wait for seating, because I was dining with kids I decided to go elsewhere. Anyhow, I ended up redeeming my free waffle in May 2013, around noon on a weekday, with an adult friend (and no kids this time). The Ol' Banana Split waffle was delicious, although not one I'd order again since it was more or less dessert rather than a meal. The Israeli tea was good too. My friend also enjoyed her waffle. The seating situation is a bit weird; a diy/figure-it-out-on-your-own situation, and all the empty tables were dirty despite there hardly being any customers, and the staff indifferent to our presence (very Eugene). But if you can tolerate bit of apathetic grunginess and don't mind a DIY dining atmosphere, then you'll feel at home here. Bonus is no need to leave a tip, despite the tip jar at the counter (I tip for service, and I've had better service at a fastfood joint). Regarding the price, I understand liege waffles cost more, but compared to Portalnd's prices for the same waffle (with better service & a nice clean restaurant), OTW is overpriced. However, I might give OTW tanother try, taste a savory waffle and give my kids the experience, but definitely only on a weekday. read more

Amazing. So fresh. Took a little bit but we had a group of 6 and they obviously make everything to order. I have kids so of course they can be picky and they LOVED it. Almost licked their plates!! Yikes, go elsewhere! My sister and I visited Off the Waffle this morning to try it for the first time and, after waiting for 45 minutes for our waffle, it arrived with a long hair draped across the top. Also, customers bus their own table there, and so the prices should reflect that there is no table service. In the end, we spent more than $13 for two waffles, waited a crazy amount of time for said waffles, and then eventually left hungrier than when we arrived. They did grant a refund for the hairy waffle, but with the advent of hair nets, this is unacceptable. There are many other breakfast options in the area, I recommend any one of them over Off the Waffle. read more

these waffles are wonderful! granted i've only had them on two occasions, once at the whit block party from their cart, and the other time at the actual shop. the blue goat is great (of course) and i also had a delectable chocochip banana. someone i was with complained because you don't get syrup which i think is ridiculous because a) i don't like syrup and b) the waffles are so sweet they almost seem glazed (are they? i don't know. it seems so). while it's true they are a little expensive for the size, they are a nice treat. plus they're open 24 hours now (i hear) which is great for 3 a.m. waffle cravings. which i have more often than you'd think. read more

I personally love the Off the Waffle atmosphere. They have some really interesting combinations that make for a great meal if you're willing to try something new. I was referred to this restaurant by a friend who raved about the waffles. She was right on the money. The fresh, organic ingredients were just the icing on the cake. The Leige (pronounced Lee-age) waffles are some of the best. Definitely recommend. I will be coming back to this one. read more

Went to breakfast this a.m. with DD and DH. It was my husband's first time and he was a little bit of a skeptic. Don't go and expect to have the generic IHOP experience. This place is unique and may be a little unsettling to some. The atmosphere is very EUGENE, but the food is like nothing else you will find in the area. I had the special of the day which was a waffle with sauteed chantrelles, brie cheese and maple syrup. Who else would serve this combination? I would love it if the place was a tad bit cleaner and the coffee was available when I was eating my meal. Dispite all that, we will go back because it is so unusual. read more
