Really liked this place. Originally was going to go to the greenhouse but the music was wack so we came across the street. Music was bumping and it was a good number of people inside. I got a rum and coke that was perfect, and bartenders were nice with all the people at the bar. I would suggest coming here on a Friday night. Not sure how it is on other nights. Great music and drinks but when it comes down to the staff, absolutely horrible. This is a bar my friends and I frequently go to but will now stop due to the disgusting attitudes from the blonde bartenders (unfortunately wasn't able to get their names). I've noticed that instead of working, they decide to go to the restroom to talk on the phone and to add to that, they occupy stalls (not using it other than to talk on the phone) while there are people waiting to use it. I don't know where to even begin with the bouncer at the front door that goes by the name of Issac. Poor excuse of a man. I truly believe that they just hire anybody at this establishment, especially people that have no respect for their paying customers that are just trying to have a good time. read more

Fun bar in Deep Ellum with ok drinks and ok prices. I come here mostly for BYOV(Bring Your Own Vinyl) on the third Sunday of every month. They are a real music store and they have craft beer, its a fun combination. I love the vibe of this bar. On a Saturday night, they usually have a great DJ spinning. They also have a back patio that is great to escape the crowded venue and to chill. They do have an impressive beer selection, for a small bar, filled with craft beer. Overall, i like Off The Record, more for the ambiance/people/vibe then i do for the drinks. read more

Yesterday we wanted to try a new place, so ai suggested this place, we were like 8 in total, we got there and music was ok, when I went to the bar I ordered a extremely simple drink (vodka and cranberry) I dunno how can you ruin that, but she did, I didn't see her, but it tasted like she first put something else and then realized that I order cranberry and pour that one then, anyway she yelled at me $10 and gave her $20, this "bartender" give me $5 and the other $5 she throw them in the tip jar, I was shocked not bc of the $5 but because I was going to tip her $3 even with her bad attitude as well as the horrible and then she did that, I told my friends, they agreed the drinks she was making, they tasted disgusting, another friend got lemon drop shots and again really bad, this woman didn't know what she was doing, never coming back, and people always ask me where to go in deep ellum, I will for sure tell them to NOT come here. read more

Really great addition to Deep Ellum. Craft beer and vinyl - what's not to love? Upon first entrance, I was a big fan of this place. With an open space for socialize and killer industrial details, it has a great feel. The bar is attractive and occupies a nice size of the west wall - big, but not in the way. As one would expect, the music is excellent. Great mix of all genres that fit the tone of the bar. Best of all, they resist playing the music obnoxiously loud so everyone can talk. Flipping through the collection of records is also a good source of entertainment. One thing they do need to clarify is the role of the records. I've had several friends - rightfully so - expect to be able to select a record and have it played. Well, it doesn't work like that. They're for browsing and buying, but not playing DJ. It'd be cool for them to hold an event where that actually happens, but for now, it's a point of confusion. It's so close to a 5* review, but it clearly has those 'new place kinks' that need to be worked out. They seem to run out of beers or don't have the beers on the menu, the concept is a bit confusing, and the patio needs some work (though it looks like that's the plan). Overall, awesome spot with the potential to be even awesome-er. Go there and skim some vinyl. Just don't spill your beer on it. +2* - Great space and atmosphere. +1* - Great selection of beers at moderate prices. +1* - Very fair prices on the cocktails - and some nice twists on classics. read more

Walked into the bar to grab a few drinks, stood in front of both bartenders for service and they ignored me. Then decided to ask the bartenders for service and they pretended like they couldn't hear my request. Then a group of white guys walked in after and they were immediately attended to right away. Another group walked up to the bar and were immediately attended to as well while they continued to ignore me. I was shocked and disappointed and had to walk across the street to enjoy my drinks. So disgusting. I'll never set my foot there ever again. High level of unprofessionalism. It doesn't matter who u are, u are a servicing a customer you should treat everyone with RESPECT. read more

I'm a sucker for vinyl shops. As soon as I saw the vinyl AND the options on tap, I had to pop in! I have to say, first time visiting Dallas, this is already a favorite. They could have more of a vinyl variety but still great. Beer selections on tap were all Texas locals and amazing! Deep Ellum IPA was so crisp! Now where to start with our bartender... Madison was probably the greatest bartender I've had. She went above and beyond to give us what we were looking for. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and really enthusiastic. She also went out of her way to give us a cool list of awesome local spots to check out. She made our visit really special. I love the vibe in here. It's a full bar, but they also sell vinyls. The outdoor space is really nice, and the staff is getting stuff done while still having a good time. It's not as big as a lot of the other bars on Elm St, but that's okay because they utilize the space really well. read more

Had two tabs open and was refused service for not tipping. Hello in order for me to tip you I have to close my tab. I guess this is my first experience of racism so sad! While trying to order more drinks she said no again I was mad at this point! I all ways go out and tip I was once a bartender and know the struggle but I would never treat someone at my bar like that. At the end the bouncer and a couple of big dudes came at me and said take your money asshoe and threw it to the floor.. Oh but I'm the asshoe? No! first I think you should get your story straight before trying to jump someone.. are you not at the door to "protect" but your trying to start a fight? The music was okay the only thing that sucked was that it was so hot and humid in their.. On another note maybe that's why the bar tender was being like that trying to get tips to fix their a.c. unit... Okay I'm kidding! This has probably been the worst experience ever for me. As I was walking in the bouncer held my cousin back and started arguing with her for no reason. He did not want to let her in even though she didn't do anything. He started arguing with her because to him she had an attitude, but in reality that was not the bouncer that asked her for her ID. This bouncer pulled her to the side and told her she wasn't going in because she looked like she had an attitude. What kind of bar is this? DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

Expensive drinks...Tucked in off the drag in DE....parking can be found on the streets and the side of the bldg....but the decor in here...AWESOME. Nice little bar in the heart of Deep Ellum not a lot of seating, expect to stand and dance. But what they lack in seating they make up in awesome music hence the name. Some Drinks are a little over priced lone star is 4.75, Saint Arnolds lawnmower 6 bucks. But premium beer like El chignon and any Community beer is 6 as well so just get the good stuff here. Unfortunately the bouncer was incredibly rude and I was unable to enter the establishment. It is 1:00 and he claims to not be letting people in, but Dallas elite (I am assuming) are coming in drones of 7 when it is only 3 of us. I have heard great things about this establishment and I hate that their Saturday night bouncer crew is tarnishing their image. If this is what OTR wants to be about and represent then I'll have to give my money I was willing to spend to other Deep Ellum establishments. I used to come here often after a long week of work. It was actually a pretty chill bar until they started hiring low class extremely RUDE bartenders. I was trying to use the restroom on a Thursday night before heading out. There was someone slumped DRUNK in the stall and someone in the phone on the other. I had to use the restroom URGENTLY and made a comment on how the restrooms were taken up, out of no where someone swings the door open with rage and cuses me out and said "BITCH I WORK HERE IM ON THE PHONE" and naturally I'm going to be upset. I used the restroom and requested to speak to the manager by the time I got to the bar the bartender had made up her own scenario and lied saying I was banging on her door which I never did I'm a civilized person I would NEVER do such a thing I left letting the manager know I'd leave a bad review and they did not care. I let the problem be but when I tried to return as I often do the door man by the name of ISAC was harrasing me wanting to talk to me before entering so I just decided to leave I will not be returning to this low class bar it's disgusting!!! read more

So my wife and I were passing through Dallas on our way from nevada to our new home in alabama. We decided to get an uber to a few places including, Off the Record, based on reviews. We had a blast at the bar. Great atmosphere, great people, awesome attentive staff and affordable/quality drinks. We left and went back to our hotel in dallas to find that our trailer with 4 wheeler and other belongings had been stolen. Wife realized she had lost her phone somewhere during the night as well.. in a hurry to leave the next morning and just wanting to get away from the area and on the road, we chalked it up as a loss and headed out. Later that day my mother in law called saying someone had my wife's phone in dallas. The manager of Off The Record, Isaac, had taken the time out of his busy schedule to try and locate the owner of the locked iPhone. Brilliantly, he told "siri" to call mom from the lock screen and got ahold of my mother in law lol. I spoke with Isaac on the phone and he offered to mail out the phone asap as we were already hours away. I offered to pay for shipping and he refused saying he was happy to help. A couple days later, she got her phone. After losing our belongings in Dallas it was great to run across Isaac and restore a little faith in humanity. What a great place and great staff. We thank yall so much and ill buy you a beer next time we are out that way Isaac! read more

A great nook in the center of Deep Ellum. It can be hit or miss, sometimes it's chill and a great place to have a pint and browse through their eclectic collection of new vinyl but other times they have some crazy DJ and it gets a bit over the top. read more
