Vinyl store? Check. Bar with lots of beers on tap? Check. This was a great place to check out with my brother when I was visiting him in Dallas (my hometown) recently. The seating is pretty limited, but they have some seating on the back patio, as well. Music selection was pretty great (of course). Lots of Texas beers on tap (which I appreciated as I no longer live in Texas and have strong nostalgic and sentimental feelings about Texas beers) - I had a Big Bend hefeweizen. (You can walk through from Club Dada.) Cool spot. Fun place to spend a few hours shopping, drinking, chatting...

Crate dating! Can't go wrong with Al Green and Bob Marley.

Four stars until I go back on a night when they have the DJ spinning :) Went this past Thursday for their crate dating event. The turnout was so small! It was just my group of friends and another group of friends. That's ok though! We still enjoyed this bar. The bartender did mention that some nights the turnout is 40 people and other nights it's not. Basically hit or miss. It's super chill and the bartender (I don't know his name) but he was great. Really personable and funny! I don't drink but I had an OJ while my friend had a beer on tap and I didn't hear her complain! Cool concept and I will def be going back either to chill with the girls during the weekday or to socialize with the weekend crowd. I'm big on going to places with a diverse crowd because that's where I'm most comfortable, and this place was exactly that. I'll be back OTR! I may have found my chill spot

Rude staff and mediocre venue. The staff was rude and it was apparent they were only concerned e With closing down for the night.

The staff was rude and it was apparent they were only concerned with leaving for the night. As I was leaving one of the bar tenders shouted at me "don't give me that look". Completely immature and unnecessary. I will not back and will make sure no I know is exposed to this type of behavior.

You can shop vinyl while drinking.

What a cool experience. Who thought it would be a good idea to mix a vinyl shop with a bar? Well, whoever thought of it is a genius. Full disclosure: I am a vinyl fanatic. It wouldn't have taken much to sell me on this place. I have bought a record during every visit. (Which has only be twice but you have to admit, 2 out of 2 ain't bad). The bar is standard with drink specials and I like the aesthetics. It's dark, with the help of natural lighting. Each of the two times I've visited (once in 2013 and the other time in 2018), there has been a DJ and the patio is open if the weather is nice. Inside the bar, there is not that much seating but I'm a fan of such open space. Even when it's packed, people aren't stacked on top of one another which is comforting.

A dive bar...in Uptown...with character?! Who knew. It was more spacious than anticipated, in parking and interior space. The area is well lit and there is a substantial amount of seating (outside picnic tables, inside tables, bar, and highboys). It was past my bedtime, so I didn't stay too long. I'll give it another try for the food!

Unfortunately, the service we received was some of the worst hospitality I've experienced. After waiting several minutes to be seated despite no one in front of us and no one being at the host stand, we were seated at the bar. My cousin had the remainder of a drink from a nearby establishment, and when asked to discard it, we immediately complied without issue. We then sat for nearly 20 minutes without anyone taking our order, offering water, or even acknowledging us after the drink was retrieved. When I finally flagged down the bartender, he approached with an unnecessarily hostile attitude and informed us that he could not serve us because an outside drink had been brought in. What made this even more confusing was that the drink had already been removed by management, and at no point were we told that we would not be served. We were there specifically to order food, not drinks, yet no one bothered to ask or communicate anything before making assumptions. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, the bartender became increasingly confrontational and ultimately told us to leave. Meanwhile, the manager explained that the issue was related to outside alcohol, but by then we had already spent nearly 20 minutes being ignored and denied basic service. The lack of communication, hospitality, and customer service was unacceptable. We left feeling stereotyped, prejudged, and unwelcome. If your staff is going to refuse service, at the very least communicate that respectfully and immediately rather than ignoring guests and then treating them with hostility when they ask simple questions. State & Allen has a lot of work to do when it comes to customer service and guest experience. I would definitely give this establishment zero stars if I could, but one is the minimum.

I don't think Harwood Arms was prepared for how many people were going to show up- it seemed completely disorganized, chaotic, and just ridiculous. We were sitting down at one of the tables outside in the alley area and the walkway was clear- at first. After the game had actually started, I guess they just let everyone in and the entire walkway was PACKED with people to the point that our once clear view of the TV, was gone in an instant. As the night progressed, obviously a girl has to pee, so as I was walking into the actual restaurant/ pub to use the bathroom and I guess the "bouncer" stuck his arm between me and the door and dismissively said I couldn't go in. Excuse me? After telling him I literally have a table outside, he yanks at his collar and speaks into his little walkie talkie asking if there's a table of 4 outside under my name. Sorry, I didn't know I was watching the Mexico game at the freakin White House surrounded by Secret Agents. Give me a break. So when he magically confirms I have a table (because I do), he lifts up his arm and gives me the ALL CLEAR! It's actually funny looking back at it. But give me a break. When going back outside to sit at my table, the same bouncer/ Secret Agent/ FBI dude gives attitude to my boyfriend and myself for the commotion caused earlier. The actual police officer next to him told us it's ok and to just have a good time. The only nice thing someone said to us and he doesn't even work at Harwood Arms lol. To management, if you do not want people "off the street" to go in and out of your pub or inside to use your bathrooms, then I don't know- maybe come up with a wristband method so your paying customers can smoothly go in and out to use your bathrooms? Just a thought. OR just don't be unwelcoming to people that are actively spending money at your pub. Harwood Arms was NOT prepared at all for the high velocity of people coming in to watch the FIFA games. Quite frankly, it was a MESS. I did visit Bar W a few days after that and had a MUCH BETTER experience-- go there instead.

The hotel property is like four legs under the table - a great location, a great hotel experience, a great restaurant experience, and a entertainment experience (The Mansion Bar). At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.
