This place was horrible and overpriced. How does the lemon pepper wings only taste like greasy chicken? No flavor no nothing. The soda was flat, the alcohol drinks were worse. We ended up going next door yo double d's much better drinks and prices. Much cleaner as well. read more

I came here with my cousin and sister and it was great. Although the venue may seem small, there are plenty of tables, bar seating, and outside lunge seating available. We came on a Friday night and it was laying night with live music as well as a d.j. although the venue has a kitchen, we did not order anything to eat. Their drink availability is extensive and they have champagne available. This venue does accept table reservations with bottle service if needed. The venue has hip hop music available in the outside patio lounge if interested in different music options. The decor to the venue is amazing with lots of photo backdrop opportunities. The dance floor is pretty small but there is plenty of space to dance near your table. Parking can be a little tricky, so we got an Uber and they have a designated area to drop-off and pick-up passengers. read more

The front is a cool, unassuming sports bar with TVs, a solid beer selection, and food that's actually better than it needs to be. I'm not saying the burger cured my seasonal depression, but I did smile with my whole face after the first bite. But wait..there's a twist. Go toward the back and you'll stumble upon a themed bar/speakeasy that opens on weekends only. Think tequila meets house music meets, "how is this even legal?" It's like Narnia, if Narnia served mezcal shots and played Diplo remixes. Pro tips: * Taco Tuesdays: Dollar tacos that don't taste like regret. * Thursday combo: Burger, fries, and a beer for $10. Alexander Hamilton would be proud. * Staff is actually attentive and friendly, no one here is mad that you exist. There's a gentleman that is deaf, be nice, he's super cool! The only con? The parking situation is more stressful than a group project in college. Street parking is your best bet, but if you have to use the lot, prepare to reenact a 37-point turn while strangers silently judge you. Visiting from NC and we enjoyed this place tremendously! Such a vibe and the decor was very pretty and made the ambiance even better. It was not as packed as we expected it to be and we were able to find a table closer to the back of the place. They did have a dance floor towards the entrance but it was a bit small though. So there was a bunch of bumping into different people. Everyone was super friendly and efficient. Our waitress did take a while with our drinks but ehhh, it can happen so we didn't complain. We went on a friday around 11pm and I believe it was tropical night? They played a bunch of salsa, Merengue and Bachata with a few Reggaeton songs here and there. Drinks were great. Ordered the Watermelon Paloma and it was super strong and tasted delicious! We also ordered a few glasses of Brut (Prosecco) and def hit the spot also. Before we left we got complementary watermelon shots, OMG they were sooooooo good! Definitely dangerous though so be careful if you order those. They can definitely sneak up on you. They do serve food but we did not order any so cant comment on that. Towards the end we saw that they offer hookah and were bummed because we would've enjoyed that if we would've known when we first arrived. The bathrooms were gross though. We went to try and do Karaoke tonight, had to pay $16 plus cause the only parking there available was valet. We get in and they say we had had to reserved a table for 200$ or stand at the bar. The men's restroom had no soap or hand sanitizer nor water cause the faucet was broken! So any man that went to the bathroom did not wash their hands at all! And to too it off the karaoke they have is them passing around 2 microphones around and having you sing whatever song they feel like playing. No requests or list what so ever ! read more

I visited Taboo for the first and last time last night. I went with two friends to celebrate my birthday and I was extremely disappointed with the service. First, we arrive at 10pm and it's super dead, there are no other customers and we had the the whole place to choose a seat. We came to this place because I wanted to smoke hookah. While getting our drinks we ask about the hookah and we are told it won't be ready for another hour. Since we Uber'd and there are no other bars around we stayed and waited two hours for them to finally be ready. Initially we were told it would be ready within one hour, but we kept getting up to check and we were turned away til midnight when they were finally ready. By midnight the place is full. And when we go to order our hookah the guy asks us where we are sitting and we tell him we are on the patio. He takes our money then tells us we can't sit on the patio with the hookah and we have to find a high top inside or we can stand and they can put it on the counter- no thank you. Because it took so long there were no tables available in side the only other option was to buy a booth for $100. It was extremely frustrating to be the first people there and we told them as soon as we got there we were there for the hookah. No one told us anything about the seating when they saw us get our drinks and sit on the patio knowing we are waiting for hookah. We had never been there and I just moved to Dallas from Vegas so I don't know how it works here. That's where some customer service could have been provided to ensure we can enjoy ourselves in this establishment. A simple heads up to say "the hookahs not ready but you do have to smoke inside so I would recommend sitting at one of the high top or the booths are $100." It was my birthday night and Taboo definitely ruined it by wasting my time. Sat and waited and had multiple overpriced drinks to be disappointed and walking out. We ended up asking for the money and got the heck out of there. BEWARE. This place doesn't have any interest in the customer. They open the doors and take your money with no effort to provide a positive experience. Negative 5 stars would be a more appropriate rating. read more

I've been here a few times and never had an issue until tonight. First let me say it always crowded so unless you purchase bottle service be prepared to stand. Tonight I had a few friends come with me and we were trying to get drinks by the bar a lady with glasses and braids acted like we were invisible so I went to a male bartender next to her, about an hour or so later I was standing by the bar and she proceeded to rudely tell me to move out the way so she could serve the men behind me......... I wish she would have had that same attitude when I was trying to get a drink. Well unfortunately this place will tow you without any signs informing of that. I parked there and went to the building connected to that parking lot but apparently it belongs to this establishment and not to the other. I went for happy hour and was done by 8 and they towed me with ZERO cars in the parking lot. Not busy at all. They just like towing people apparently. read more

We heard about this place online, well my roommate did, so we decided to drive from Lewisville to go check it out. They advertised $2 tacos and $3 don julio shots. It's in the design district kinda tucked away. Which is okay bc it's easily accessible. They do offer valet parking, but we parked across the street and walked over. Right where we parked there was a cute little photo op so that was fun. Wish I would've thought to take pics and not videos. When you walk up you can tell the place is kinda small, but spacious. There's outside seating and the doors are open. The bar is the first thing you see when walking in. Who doesn't love a good bar lol Taco truck is outside, so I assume it is honestly strictly a hookah lounge and bar. Happy hour was until 9 so it was $2 don julio shots and $20 hookah (possibly $30/$40 when it's not). Turns out the tacos weren't $2 but it's okay bc they were only $3.50 or something each. Yummy and pretty big. They were stingy with the toppings. Might I suggest eating tacos before you start with the shots lol bc ya girl didn't ‍ The hookah guys were nice too and walked around checking to make sure people were good on coal. Now the dj! Aside from the interrupting during the songs, was over all amazing! The music was honestly what took everything to the next level! The mix of old school r&b and new rap really tied everything together. Everyone honestly was fun and the crowd was a nice mixture of people and ages! It was a little hot, but that's expected in this Texas heat and doors open. The heat just helps with burning more calories lol so it's all good! Taboo Lounge is simply an awesome place to go hang out with friends and listen to great music! I came here on my most recent trip to Dallas and a friend of mine decided this would be our spot to chill. The cover was minimal for this event, I believe $10 (don't quote me) but it wasn't anything too crazy which was nice. I hate paying covers for bars but when they offer the kind of experience that Taboo Lounge did, then I'm all here for it! Bartenders were awesome! I appreciated the heavy pours of my Tito's Vodka ha-ha and also the great conversation. One of the best things while being out and at the bar is having great service from the bartenders. Mix that with superior customer service and you get a guaranteed GOOD TIME! I will most definitely come back here on my next trip to Dallas! read more

I really enjoy being a little bit of everywhere, enjoying everyone. Taboo on Saturday nights gives me an opportunity to connect with the African American and Latin community, and I love it. The promoter of Saturday nights at Taboo is one of the nicest guys I've met in Dallas and the Taboo staff are an amazing crew that keep the drinks, smiles and conversations flowing all night. Interesting scene, I would come back to re-evaluate to see if it's better another night. There was a weird cleaning solution smell that could be smelled from the entrance to the back of the room. The space is basically one large room with a wall 3/4 back that sets the stage. It's a very hipster type of place with furniture that looks like it was obtained from a thrift store. It would have been nice if they spent more investment in the space to make it look fresh. My only two complaints about this venue the parking was horrible and it was entirely too small for the event I attended. My friends and myself turned up on a Friday at a silent party held here. Tickets were dirty cheap $10 for single or two for $12(early bird special) The party started at 10p.m., we arrived at 11:30p.m. thinking parking wouldn't be that hard to find. Shiiiiid...we were WRONG!!! TWENTY MINUTES we spent driving around trying to acquire a parking spot. Once we found our parking spot, we checked in and began PARTYING!!! Standing inside wasn't possible without getting bumped into or knocked down... Lol NO LIE.... So, we hit the patio which wasn't crowded. The DJ's were decent... Three channels of music to vibe too. Hip-Hop, Trap and R&B. Mann we had a blast once we began dancing. I'd definitely attend another silent party just at a different venue. read more

My husband and I went here on the spur of the moment killing time. The owner and staff were super friendly. I had the avacado margarita, and it was off the charts. It is made with all fresh ingredients. Will definitely make the drive to go back. I soooo wish we had a place like this in Frisco!! I had an amazing time @ the Taboo Lounge! They had a special karaoke show and the audience was amazing. All of the singers were great and everyone was signing up to sing. The bartenders were very quick and nice and I loved the atmosphere of the place. It's a little deceptive because you don't expect the oasis you find in this building off of Riverfront over in the Design District, but definitely worth a visit if you're ever bored. I really hope they invite Robert "O" back for karaoke in the future! read more
