Renovating my kitchen and bathrooms was a huge undertaking for me, but thanks to Oriental Cabinet and Granite the whole experience went very smoothly. From my first contact with their manager Jean, my questions were answered and explained so that I could make the best decisions. The information relayed to me was so helpful in knowing beforehand what to expect and how best to plan my schedule. Selecting the kitchen cabinets, their countertops, and the bathroom sinks and vanities was not as stressful as I had anticipated because of Jean's close guidance and advice. The cabinets were installed exactly how I wanted and the old bathroom tub was removed and replaced by a roomy walk-in shower with beautiful glass doors. New flooring and carpeting were also installed to complete the whole interior. From the electrician and plumber to the cabinet installers and carpet layer, they transformed my 84-year old house into a beautiful home. There was so much involved, but the job was well coordinated by Jerry and no problems were evident throughout the entire project. I'm so happy I visited Oriental Cabinet and Granite! As the photos show, it made such a difference and it was certainly the most worthwhile investment for my house. In May 2016 (7months ago) Jerry (the owner) and his crew renovated my galley kitchen in my condo. They did excellent work, including installing an electrical outlet to accommodate my over-the-range microwave and doing the work to install my faucet and garbage disposal. The quartz countertops and dark cherry cabinets are awesome. Today, January 2017, Jerry and his worker came to install a quartz countertop and sink in my bathroom. They also replaced my mirrored medicine cabinets and LED lights in both bathroom. Again they did great work. There was a language barrier with some of the installers, but if you have an issue then talk directly to Jerry. They were all friendly though so there were no problems. We're pleased with the new kitchen that Oriental Cabinets installed. You can see the difference in the before and after photos I posted. One of the best things about the company is the let me pick out the quartz counter top from another store, when Oriental didn't have a pattern I liked. This was at no extra expense, how great is that. One small negative was some communication problems. All of the people who do the installation are Chinese and speak little to no English, which made it a challenge to resolve some issues when they came up during the work. Demoed and hauled away old material and old appliances . Not too many companies offer this . Replaced Flooring through out the entire house. We did half carpet , half vinyl. The vinyl material is of strong waterproof and scratch resistant quality. In the Kitchen we replaced cabinets and countertops. Made the cabinets for the uppers custom made to accommodate her high ceiling . Replaced vanities and countertop for 2 bathrooms . Took out the tub and Created a walk in shower . Let me tell you about the crew. The boss- Jerry is so nice and simple, he made the whole experience from beginning to end very calm. Jerry explained things easy for my mom to understand. Let me start off with saying this place has HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. If I could, I would give them ZERO stars. My husband and I have been searching for a remnant countertop for our island that we are building. We found this place and really liked the countertop we saw. We purchased it on Saturday and paid in full. We were told it would be ready to pick up on Monday. Monday came and we called just to make sure it was ready. I spoke to Jay and he sounded really confused. He wasn't aware of any countertop he had to finish for us. He said he would find out and get back to me. He never called. Because I didn't hear back from him, I was worried, so I called their store. The receptionist we spoke to also had no idea what we were talking about and didn't know where our countertop was. It was as if they lost our invoice. It took some digging, but they finally found our countertop, but no one worked on it. She ensured/PROMISED me that it would be done the next day by lunch and she would call me. The next day came and she never called. I called Wednesday afternoon because I still didn't hear back from her. She said she didn't call me because she didn't hear back from the person who was supposed to work on my countertop. She put me on hold for a while and then said it was finished and we could pick it up. I told her it would have been nice to get a status on our countertop instead of no call at all since she promised it would be done the day before. She was irritated and rude. Not good customer service in my opinion. We went the next day to pick up our countertop and part of a corner was damaged. It was pretty bad. My husband wanted them to fix it. They said they would be able to finish it after lunch. He went back 4 hours later and the person he talked to didn't know they were supposed to fix our countertop. Therefore it wasn't finished, no one touched it. We were tired of being strung along and just got our refund for the countertop. By far the worst customer service ever!! No one seemed to know what was going on. Avoid this place at all cost. It was SUCH A HEADACHE to work with them. read more

There was a lil hiccup in the beginning but they fixed it so quickly and it was really just a miscommunication error. Had Jerry do a complete renovation in Waikiki 1-bedroom condo which was completed on schedule on on the quote he provided before job began. I was pleased with the job especially the flooring, cabinetry, and shower stall tiling work. There was a minor issue with the bathroom vanity but Jerry's workers resolved it right away. First off, nestled in Kalihi, off of Waiakamilo Rd, you'll find this place. We were looking to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms and was led here from online searches (i.e.'Yelp*') that gave good reviews. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. Not only do they offer competitive pricing (which by the way was the absolute lowest that we found!), they also offered to come out to our home to provide an estimate that was free of charge. Jerry was the person we first met, only to find out that he was the owner. Not only did he come out to our house to oversee the remodeling in progress, he even came to put in work! Talk about awesome! Now, if you're like us, spending a lot of money can make you worry. Especially doing a home remodeling venture. However, have no fear...Jerry is easy to talk to (not to mention very tolerant) with us as we often found ourselves getting involved with the work taking place and asking lots of questions! But lo and behold, Jerry was ever so patient to our concerns and listened to everything we asked...now that's customer satisfaction! So, after about a weeks of worth, our kitchen with the quartz countertops and cherry wood cabinets (including matching bathrooms) was finally completed and let me tell you...It came out even better than we imagined! Thank you Jon and Jerry for helping us remodel our kitchen, bathroom, shower, and flooring. We went to two other places for an estimate. Jon was the only one that called me the next day with a quote. The other two said they'd get back to me in a week. After a week, we heard nothing from them. We decided to go with Oriental cabinet and granite based on reviews and fair price. They had a opening for us as long as we made a deposit and were able to complete the renovation before we left for our vacation. The whole process was smooth except for a couple minor hiccups. We originally wanted vinyl planks, but after checking what they brought over, it wasn't the one we wanted and that was the closest they could offer. This mistake helped us because we switched over to 12x24 porcelain tile and find out from our building manager that we needed to sound proof the floors whether it be tiles or vinyl planks or risk being fined and be made to remove the tiles after she saw us loading up the tiles on the cart in the parking lot. I would've flipped if I had to remove our floors so Oriental cabinet gets a 5 star for the mistake and also accommodated us by refunding the vinyl planks and letting us buy our own flooring and charging us for installation only. We weren't planning to renovate our shower, but we did it after seeing their work. My advice is if you only have one bathroom then you should do it all one time, you would be thankful that you did, less of a headache and you'd have already had the plans in set. The construction guys came everyday and worked during building hours. After the demolition they did remeasured everything, but didn't tell us what they would change. We liked all the changes they did for us, but would have been nice to have been told what would change instead of the day of installation. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience with this company, and yes Jerry was at my job also. The major issue started with them not providing me with any drawings to show the heights and elevations. This caused many problems at the completion of my job. I felt they did sloppy work. They did not clean up after themselves, and actually I had to clean up the glue that had dripped onto my floor. A lot of my cabinet door handles are not straight and crooked. Some of my cabinet doors do not close flush. On one drawers they actually miss drilled a hole and did a sloppy job to try to fix it, brand new cabinet has a miss drilled hole in it. You would think that they would have some kind of jig so that all handles would be uniform and have a clean finish. The 2 major issues that would have not been had they provided me with drawing were the back splashes in my bathroom and kitchen. The splash in the bathroom covered my outlet. Of course this could have been determined earlier had he given me drawings, I could have happily moved it when my drywall guys were prepping the interior. Instead I had to pay someone to relocate the outlet after everything was done The final problem that was my tipping point was that they just installed my kitchen back splash with no regard to the over the range microwave that they knew would be install later. They made the splash too high. Jerry's response on site was to just build out the gap 3/4" of an inch and then secure the microwave into the granite. Well that's great, thanks Jerry. I later found out that it was not that easy to do and it now would make my microwave come out an extra 3/4", so I called Jerry to come back, remove the splash and cut to the correct size. He instead of admitting he put the splash in too early instead claimed it was my fault. I couldn't believe this guy. At that point I had enough. I paid my contractor to fix the mistakes and left the ones that I could live with. Very disappointed. It is sad because had the 2 splash issued not have happened I am pretty sure I would be happy. Yes Jerry and his guys were quick, too quick in my case. I felt there was a serious lack of communication. I have to say that the cabinets do look nice, the counter tops look very good and overall I got what I wanted. Was it perfect, no, but it got done and for a price that fit in my budget. read more

Hey for those looking for cabinets, this was the place that met most of my needs concerning cabinets. I had a low ceiling and they had 39 inch wall cabinets which was perfect. I had checked other places but most couldn't do a 2 day notice in fabricating my order, most needed 2weeks notice. I did my own install but was very helpful when I had problems in certain areas. The day we finished the installation of the cabinets, Jerry the owner came to measure for the Quartz counter top, he said probably 5 days before the can install. 3 days later they there installing, good job, very professional, knew what they were doing, also gave me an extra Quartz piece for my window sill. Most people's concern is how long you'r without a sink and the rest of kitchen items in boxes, but 5 days turnaround was bearable. Jon the manager met all my needs, and hopefully will continue helping me out if their concerns in the future. If you'r looking for cabinets make sure Oriental Cabinet and Granite is on your list. I wrote a review this month 'after the fact'--that happened when they were just getting started in 2013-14 and they were awful. The cabinets were fine, well made --no particle board and several styles and colors of hardwood doors, good prices (half or less of home depot and lowes who have particle board cabinet boxes (terrible!)), but they just couldn't seem to get my order done, and the newly hired staff were rude and inappropriate. So I gave them 2 stars only. Happily they have vastly improved, fired the low-life guy they had and now have a helpful, professional staff. C and C cabinets (across from Home Depot in town)have the same things but they are so busy they cannot be bothered helping you. Try oriental cabinets instead!!! They also give contractor discounts and do special projects as well. read more

He never apologized, none of the staff member took accountability for their mistake and made myself the customer feel wrong. The owner had no intention to help myself with this huge error. I used Home Advisor to locate a business to install a walk in shower. I scheduled an appointment for this company to come out and do an estimate. I called the company to confirm appointment and four days later received a call from Richard telling me that he told someone in the office to call me and they didn't call me. Not a great way to start-with excuses. I confirmed appointment day and time and he told me he wasn't coming!!! He said he would call me back in 10 minutes! The day before the appointment I got a text from Home Advisor confirming day and time of visit for an estimate. I called the office again and told they would call me back in ten minutes. (What's up with the ten minute thing?) This was over a month ago and have not heard from the company or Richard. So you decide. I have installed my own cabinets (lowes, home depot, other vendors) and counters (formica or tile) for years in rentals. Ordered cabinets from Oriental that I installed myself - Oriental delivered. Quartz countertops from Oriental that they installed. All of the workers were prompt, courteous, helpful and did outstanding work. Jean in the showroom was polite, helpful and thoughtful. Manager Andre is quiet, thoughtful and knowledgeable and willing to please. Quick response by this company, on my schedule. I would give this company no stars if that were an option. I would avoid contracting them at any cost. We contracted them to renovate our kitchen and repair and tile our lanais. After 2 months of limited progress, we had to terminate our contract with them. The quality of work is shockingly poor. The kitchen cabinets and pulls are not all level. The destroyed the backsplash by not prepping the wall and the tiles are cut all jagged. The tiles also look wavy because the walls weren't prepped. My kids could cut straighter lines. The got the grout color wrong too. They do not use the proper industry standard materials to prep the decks before tiling. The owner, Jerry, rarely responds to any communications or concerns. The crew take numerous short cuts and do an extremely poor job. We had to hire a second construction company to fix the mistakes that were made by Oriental Cabinets. They will also lie to the homeowner about what is being done. We have caught them out on many lies to cover up their shoddy work. And if that's not enough, their crew have no respect for your home. They use your fridge to store their food, use your brand new sink to wash Thin Set, turn on the garbage disposal without water and leave the house, improperly reinstall the water lines so that there are leaks and won't fix them. The electrical work was not to code. Our handyman was shocked when he tried putting in a light bulb. Upon inspection, it was clear that is a fire hazard. At the end of the work day, my tenant has had to go pick up the trash and cigarette butts left by the workers; but they will deny it is their mess. They also used my dining chairs as a ladder and threw our blanket on the floor. When we finally terminated the contract, they didn't want to reimburse us for costs of fixing all their mistakes. They also will show up late in the evenings on the weekends, do little work, and leave, often without locking up after themselves. No amount of babysitting will help. Sadly, their salesperson admitted to us that "lots of other homeowners" are complaining about their work too. The experience that we had them with is worthy of a complaint to the State Contractor's Licensing Board. read more

Oriental Cabinet and Granite is the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. On several occasions, I either called or stopped by and no one could find a file on me after two measurements were conducted at my home. After weeks of consulting, my file was finally found. I was told my cabinets were ordered and would be received by the end of the month. After no response, I decided to call one day before the end of the month and of course No one seemed to know what was going on. They did admit there has been a communication problem because I have been the only one trying to communicate in this whole process. Truly a waste of time dealing with this business. Furthermore, after consulting the BBB, it was discovered they are not registered as a licensed contractor nor or they BBB accredited. I find it hard to believe the other reviews associated with this business. If you are looking for unprofessionalism and lack of communication you have come to the right place. Last year in November, the board of directors decided to replace the old kitchen cabinets in the unit that belongs to our AOAO. After, we researched and looked at many places in Honolulu, thanks to Yelp I found the Oriental Cabinets and Granite company. I visited their office to see what they offer and asked them to give us approximately quote for the new cabinets. The quality of cabinets is excellent for the price that they have. The doors are made of real wood, they have several choices of quartz countertops to match the color of cabinets. Everything is available at one place, sinks (many choices, handles). They are so professional. Jean, the assistant manager, made blue print according to measurement that was taken by the owner, Jerry. There was no mistake. The cabinets were installed by the company second week of January. They said give us 3-5 days (demolition to finish) and they finished in 4 days. They also installed the new microwave above the stove range that was not in the contract and made us the doors for the water heater area to much the new cabinets (honey maple). Jean went above and beyond to accommodate us even when we decided to make some changes and stay close to our budget. She followed up after the installation to see if we are satisfied. It was the great experience to work with all of them. However, for me the most impressing was that they show up on time, never late even a minute when we met at the building.
