I was looking for a construction company on Yelp and found LG constructtion. It had good reviews so my sister and i set up an appt. with Shen. He was easy to work with and explained all the work that needed to be done. I was hesittant at first because of the cost, but my friend who was having her place remodelled in California said that it was an appropriate bid. Well, when we saw the final result, it looked like a new townhouse. Shen was very helpful picking out the colors and appropriate fixtures. I would definitely recomment LG construction for your remodelling and give it a 5 star/excellent rating. Did a condo bath remodel for a second home while visiting HNL for a couple months since live abroad. Obtained multiple quotes from five vendors. Checked DCCA site, and LG is actively licensed and insured. Not all GCs are licensed, do your research. LG's bid was in the mid-range, but decided to go with them as their quote seemed the most detailed on the work I wanted done compared to the other contractors. Shen was good at communicating and responding to all questions. Seemed honest, knowledgeable and provided constructive opinions on design ideas. There was a minor install issue that we had to come to a final inspection agreement to, but overall, satisfied with the final product. Plus, the job was able to be completed in the timeframe agreed due to my short stay in HNL. No unnecessary delays as Shen was able to accommodate my dates. Our home needed some TLC. Especially the bathrooms and the kitchen. We went with LG after meeting with several different contractors. Initially we were hesitant because the price they quoted us was very reasonable. Shen seemed knowledgeable and was very attentive though. So we took a chance... Boy were we glad we did! Our new bathrooms and kitchen are outstanding. Shen from LG was outstanding. Whenever we had a concern, all we had to do was bring it up to Shen and he relayed our concerns to the workers. Yes, that means the workers didn't understand English very well, but Shen easily understands it and speaks it quite well. So that was not a issue at all.Things got done the way we wanted. After thoughts we had were dealt with as add-ons that were very reasonable. All in all, we would highly recommend LG. We included some before and after images. read more

LG Construction did a total remodel, which included a new floorpan, new rooflines, creating a subfloor from different levels and concrete and wood foundation, etc., and the end-result was fantastic! It was a challenging project due to being an old original house, but owner Chi, and Shen were always steadfast and achieved the desired outcomes. The LG job cost was most cost competitive, and are dependable and trustworthy. Also, the tile work by Chi's brother is 5 star quality and very impressive. I would have no hesitation in recommending LG Construction for your remodel, big or small. I've also had the pleasure of working with LG on various condo projects, and the work is always top-rate. This review is long overdue. I hired Chi/LG Constructions in November 2020 to renovate a 2-bed 2-bath apartment I purchased. The entire process was headache- and worry-free. Clear communication -- As in anything, communication is the key. Chi listened to my plans, ideas, and expectations, and carried them through during renovation. If there was any concern, he explained clearly to set the right expectation. There was no work that needed to be redone upon completion; there was no confusion about pricing; no surprises in general. Meeting deadline -- This was important because my move-in date was set based on the renovation completion date he provided. During renovation, I found more work that I would like done. In addition to put in hard work to complete the work agreed in the contract as scheduled, he hired extra help to get the extra work done before my move-in date as well. Quality work -- The biggest part of the project was the complete renovation of the two bathrooms. They came out exactly as what I expected, if not better, from the overall look down to the color of the tile gap filler. See pic 1 and 2. -- Installation/replacement of three split ACs. Chi met with me twice just to discuss the AC locations. Because of unique situation of my living room, there needed to be one-foot-long covered AC drain pipes. I was made aware of the situation and was able to coordinate with them to arrange my furniture in a way to cover the unsightly drain pipes. For the bedroom ACs, Chi removed the old outdated AC and patched and painted the walls for the installation of the new AC. See pic 3 and 4 -- Installation of additional ceiling fan. See pic 4. -- Widening of a countertop to accommodate my fish tank and be used as a bar. The original countertop at the kitchen opening was only 12" wide, which was not functional. As a contractor, Chi had some leftover 24"-wide countertop from his other project and was able to do it very inexpensively (otherwise I had to purchase a whole slab). See pic 5. -- Reconfiguration of kitchen cabinet to create functional space, cover built-in building ventilation, and install a microwave to save kitchen counter space. The end result looks like custom-made. See pic 6. -- Tiling of lanai. See pic 7. -- Replacement of old ugly foot board, lighting, and all light switches and outlets. See pic 8. Great customer service -- Because I have a specific vision about my apartment, so I asked Chi to provide labor cost only, and I myself would select all finishing products. Chi made multiple trips to pick all the heavy stuff I ordered or wanted to order from HomeDepot. He treated all projects, big or small, with the same attention and care while being non-pushy.
