My wife and I were in D.C. for business and we heard that there was an Ocean Prime in the city so we booked a reservation. Being that we have dined at the Ocean Prime locations in Colorado, Boston and New York City, I knw it was going to be a great night out with a delicious menu. When we arrived we were welcome my a lovely hostess who immediately made us fell comfortable and seated us at a cozy spot in the restaurant. The atmosphere was lively, airy and upbeat while still being in wonderful spot that we could look at the windows which made it really nice. We started off by ordering their signature drinks called "berries & bubbles" which is truly incredible! The drink is more like s masterpiece with the berries in the drink be cold boiled with at mixute of nitrogen/dry ice! This alone is a reason to stop there even for a drink! We each ordered an appetizer which was the the shrimp cocktail which was supper fresh along with an order of calamari. Being of Italian descent I know great Italian food and the calamari was a perfect was to start and absolutely delicious. My wife ordered a lobster tail that came with super fresh asparagus and baked potatoe. She really enjoyed every bite being I heard no complaints because she was too busy eating and ordering another drinks. lol I order a perfectly cooked steak which was really delicious. After the dinner, we each had a piece of the wonderful cheeze cake they serve along with a cappuccino. The hostess stopped by to see how we were doing which was more than we expected & really great! We love to go to this chain of restaurant because the fish tastes as if it was just caught, the steaks are always top quality, the drinks are unbelievable and the atmosphere is always comfortable. Hats off to the chef for a dinner to remember. Can't wait for the next time we are in D.C. to go back...this review is making me hungry thinking about that outrageous dinner. The price is reasonable along with the drinks. I noticed that have a private room for dinning if you have a number of guest to entertain or a family gathering when you desire a little more privacy. All around, a wonderful and romantic night out! Thanks you Ocean Prime you are the place to go when in the cities like DC when we travel! read more

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at a local restaurant that turned out to be a hidden gem. The night kicked off a bit slow on the service front, but what began as a shaky start was quickly turned around by an attentive and dedicated wait staff, making it a memorable dining experience. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Reposado Paper Plane cocktail. Not only was it expertly crafted, but the added touch of a customized ice cube bearing the restaurant's logo was a delightful surprise that added a touch of sophistication to the drink. The ambiance of the place is low-key yet inviting, adorned with beautiful mirror accents, and boasting a well-curated music selection that complemented the dining experience perfectly. Starting off with the vegetable sushi rolls was a burst of flavor in every bite, setting the tone for what turned out to be a flavorful culinary journey. The roasted brussels sprouts were charred to perfection, offering just the right balance of flavor and texture. The miso-chili roasted broccoli packed the perfect umami punch, showcasing a mastery of flavors. However, the black truffle mac and cheese, while promising, fell a bit short. The heavy hand with the black truffle oil overshadowed the dish rather than elevating it as expected. Nonetheless, the quinoa cake served with roasted vegetables was a revelation, redefining my perception of quinoa and offering a flavorful and satisfying dish. Despite the initial hiccup in service, the attentive wait staff made all the difference, turning the evening into a delightful culinary adventure. Each dish offered a unique twist on familiar flavors, and the overall experience was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation. In conclusion, this dining experience was a testament to the adage that great service can enhance an already excellent culinary offering. With a few standouts and an atmosphere that invites relaxation and enjoyment, this restaurant is undoubtedly worth revisiting. Overall, a great experience that left a positive impression, and I'll certainly be returning for more culinary delights. Bon appétit! read more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ocean Prime for Restaurant Week, and despite the hustle and bustle, it didn't disappoint. We were lucky to snag a reservation--this place was packed! The ambience was elegant, though the noise level was higher than usual given the full house, but that was to be expected. My friend had arrived ahead of me, so our table was already set with menus when I joined. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed a bit frazzled from the busy atmosphere. His tone was a little short throughout the evening, which made the service feel a bit off. It's understandable considering how busy the place was, but it did slightly impact the experience. For starters, we had the Ocean Prime House Salad and Caesar Salad. The house salad exceeded my expectations--the apples paired beautifully with the goat cheese and walnuts, adding a refreshing touch. My companion enjoyed their Caesar, which was classic and well-executed. For mains, we tried the Saddleberk Farms Pork and the 8-ounce filet. The pork, with its sherry reduction, was absolutely fantastic. The careful prep really showed in the tender, flavorful chop. My friend was pleased with the filet, though we both noticed that there were no sides included with the Restaurant Week menu. I felt this was a bit of a missed opportunity to elevate the meal, as sides are usually an important part of a steakhouse experience. For dessert, I had the warm butter cake, and it was everything I hoped for--soft, warm, and simple yet rich in flavor. My friend had sorbet, which was refreshing but didn't quite have the same wow factor. I also had the Hot and Dirty Martini, which was delicious, and my companion's Pineapple Picante was a fun and flavorful choice. Despite the slight service hiccups and the lack of sides for the Restaurant Week menu, I still had a memorable experience. Ocean Prime is a staple in the DC area, and I'll definitely be back to enjoy more of their impressive menu. read more

This place is a beautiful location. The interior decorating and booths were a nice touch. Great for a romantic dinner or a date night or just dinner with some friends. Service was prompt and professional. The server went over specials and answered our questions we had regarding the menu. They were very quick to refill our drinks. We started off with the lobster Mac and cheese and some sushi and a salad. I got the famous cocktail that bubbles where they pour something in it. (I forget the name). That was a fun show and I do recommend it. Now on to the reason I gave it 4 stars. The appetizers and drinks were excellent, but we ordered the crab legs, filet, and lamb chops for our entrees. For a while I wondered if the server had forgotten to put in the order, because we were waiting a good 30-45 minutes for our entrees to come out once our appetizers were finished. I know a medium filet and lamb chops do not take that long to cook. Eventually the food came out and the presentation looked delicious. But the food just wasn't that great to be honest. The crab legs were delicious but the filet was almost rubbery, not tender. It was also more towards the medium well to well side when we had ordered a medium. The lamb chops were very plain as well. They tasted pretty good but definitely weren't worth the price. We were going to say something but our server never checked back with us to quality check. We had a concert to get to in DC so we ended up asking another server to just box it up for us. Atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Apps: 5/5 Entrees: 2.5/5 Was a nice experience and great atmosphere but I most likely will not return. read more

As a seafood lover, my dinner at Ocean Prime was absolutely top-notch! The moment I walked in, I knew it would be an amazing night. The place has such a chic and modern vibe--perfect for a night out . I kicked off my meal with the Seafood Tower. Let me tell you, it was impressive. It was like a seafood lover's dream come true, loaded with fresh oysters, shrimp, crab, and lobster. Everything was so fresh and perfectly chilled. It felt like a mini ocean feast right at my table. I also had crab cakes and king crab legs, which were absolutely fantastic. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the king crab legs were meaty and succulent. Next up was the lobster bisque. It was creamy, rich, and packed with chunks of lobster--seriously, it was like a warm hug in a bowl. The depth of flavor was incredible, with just the right amount of sherry to give it that extra kick. For dinner, I went with the lobster linguine. It was out of this world! The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the lobster was tender and juicy. The sauce was light yet flavorful, tying everything together beautifully. The staff were super professional and made the whole experience even better. They were attentive without being overbearing and really knew their stuff. They even helped me pick out a fantastic wine that paired perfectly with my meal. Overall, Ocean Prime is a must-visit. Whether you're celebrating something special or just in the mood for some amazing seafood, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to go back and try more from their menu! read more

We dined in for our anniversary dinner, and the experience truly made us feel special. It's rare to find a restaurant that decorates the table with rose petals -- such a lovely, thoughtful touch. The ambiance was elegant and cozy, enhanced by dim lighting that set a perfect romantic mood. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu items and his assistant was very attentive with refilling our water and clearing plates for the next course. I opted for the Black Orchid cocktail, but unfortunately, it fell flat--underwhelming and lacking in flavor. On the other hand, my boyfriend tried the Whiskey Clover, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of Hennessy and orange juice was surprisingly well-balanced and refreshing. For our appetizer, we ordered the Calamari, which was the best I've ever had. It came with a delicious sweet chili sauce and was garnished with julienne carrots, green onions, and bean sprouts -- a fantastic blend of flavors and textures. For the entrees, I chose the Lobster Linguini. The lobster was cooked perfectly tender, though the pasta was slightly overcooked. Despite that, the dish was enjoyable overall. My boyfriend went with the 16 oz Ribeye Oscar style, which was absolutely to die for. The homemade tater tots were packed with flavor and a great complement to the meal. The corn, however, didn't stand out and was nothing special. The carrot cake was delicious as well, but I prefer it warm. All in all, a memorable dinner with great food and a warm atmosphere -- definitely a place to celebrate special occasions. read more

and the only reason why they get two stars is because the food was pretty good. not only do they steal from you financially, they will also physically steal whatever they can. not sure why an establishment like that would have such a horrible trait as that but you never can be to sure anywhere apparently. after filing police reports and speaking with managers i am 100% that this isnt the first time they've done this. the amount of disregard the management had for a person who just lost his phone after having dinner was horrendous. thank god for apple watches because it assured me i wasnt crazy and they in fact stole from right in front of my eyes and was lying to me. anybody that knows apple watches and how to find the phone knows you can never lose it with the loudness of the ringer..... and i'll end on that note because i want everyone who's reading this to know... you will get robbed from washington, dc's ocean prime. read more

Ocean Prime is an excellent choice for a happy hour. The food and drinks were superb. My favorite was the Ocean Sushi--you could really taste each ingredient. The sliders were equally delicious, and the house-cut fries were fantastic. The fish tacos were good, but nothing out of this world. The staff was super friendly and the waitress was very polite and helpful with her recommendations and making sure she informed my sister of any gluten. Although they messed up our order by not bringing out two items, our waitress was apologetic and offered us complimentary champagne as a gesture. The only downside to our experience was the lack of a specific happy hour menu. The happy hour options were not marked on their regular menu, which led to some confusion, even among the staff. They mistakenly informed us about an item that wasn't part of the happy hour deal. read more

We celebrated my friend's birthday at Ocean Prime and it was a night to remember! We reserved the Georgetown Room and were blown away by the service and accommodations. Our server, Tiana, was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain the menu in detail, making sure we knew exactly what we were getting. Her recommendations were spot on, and she clearly knew her stuff. The food was, of course, incredible - as expected from Ocean Prime. The private room was perfect for our group, and the fact that they let us play our own music added a fun touch. It was a really special night, and Tiana and the rest of the staff made sure we felt celebrated. Highly recommend the Reserving a Room at Ocean Prime for a special occasion - and if you get Tiana as your server, you're in good hands! " read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ocean Prime for dinner and I am already regretting not visiting sooner. I went previously for HH. The teriyaki salmon and scallops dish I ordered was a delightful combination, with a slightly sweet but delicious teriyaki sauce. The risotto underneath the scallops was perfectly cooked and had a great texture. The branzino was expertly prepared and had a delicate and pleasing texture, although the puree underneath was not entirely to my taste. The lamb chops, ordered medium well, were cooked to perfection and the sushi, while basic, was undeniably delicious. The bartenders checked in regularly, enhancing our dining experience at the bar, and the eclectic music choices added a unique touch. Overall, it was another incredible dining experience. read more

We recently visited Ocean Prime for happy hour on a Wednesday and found it pleasantly uncrowded. I indulged in their delectable steak tartare, while my wife savored their fresh oysters. The highlight of the evening was trying their unique "berries and bubbles" cocktail which was served with dry ice, Belvedere citrus vodka, marinated berries, house-made sour mix, and Chandon Brut. The drink was both sweet and visually appealing with the bubbling effect from the dry ice. The staff members were all incredibly friendly, and the bartenders made sure to attend to every guest promptly. Overall, we had a lovely time at Ocean Prime and are eagerly looking forward to returning for dinner to explore more of their enticing menu offerings. read more

My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at Ocean Prime. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, and our server, Demetrius, made the evening even more enjoyable. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and provided outstanding hospitality throughout our meal. My wife ordered the Lobster Linguine, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I chose the Ora King Salmon, and it was absolutely delicious--cooked to perfection with incredible flavor and presentation. The combination of excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service from Demetrius made for a memorable night out. We look forward to returning and highly recommend Ocean Prime to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. read more

During our trip to Washington, DC, we decided to stop by Ocean Prime for happy hour. We enjoyed lamb lollipops, sautéed spinach, and prawn sauté, all impeccably cooked. We had zero complaints. The Betty and Bubbly featured drink was delightful, but the highlight was the Black Orchid--a drink served with a golf ball-sized ice cube containing a frozen orchid, presented beautifully. The atmosphere was elegantly sophisticated, reminiscent of an Ivy League university professors' lounge with a touch of old money charm. The staff, including Kimberly, Charles, Richard, and Christopher, were exceptionally competent, kind, and humorous. Treat yourself and visit Ocean Prime if you have the chance; it's worth it. read more

I was told Ocean Prime was "the" seafood place in Washington DC to go to. I went I saw and I conquered. Service was great. Waitress was nice knew everything on the menu. They make all eat every dish so they can describe it properly. I ordered a Mojito which was very well made. Lobster Bisque was A+ and the Sea Bass was cooked to perfection. I loved the ambiance. Went in the evening so it was a nice setting for the time I arrived. I enjoyed the popcorn served instead of bread. It is a signature thing they do and it was seasoned and buttery. Now, I will say price point was a bit high but the food and service matched. They do have a happy hour that begins at 4pm but I liked for dinner. read more

Hosted our annual holiday dinner at Ocean Prime and from start to finish, our experience at Ocean Prime was nothing short of exceptional. The level of professionalism was evident the moment we arrived, and the service remained outstanding throughout the entire evening. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was beautiful and upscale, and everything came together for a truly memorable dining experience. A special thank you to Ebony for the seamless coordination and to our server, William, who was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every detail was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be returning. read more

I came here for an industry event and let me tell you, it was my first visit to this restaurant and the hosts did not disappoint! The menu was absolutely amazing! We started off with some sliders, which I think were chicken, and they were soooooo damn good! We also had some caprese skewers, a house salad, and some bacon-wrapped scallops to share. For my entree, I had the filet mignon, black truffle mac & cheese, and some asparagus, and let me tell you, it was all absolutely delicious! And to top it all off, we had some sorbet for dessert, which was such a refreshing treat! I can't wait to come back for my own dining experience! read more

Holy cow I thought I tried fine dining but coming here changed my opinion. This place is amazing! It's situated right in downtown DC and within walking distance of the white house. The place is finely decorated. The food is a whole other world of amazing. The steak is so tender. The meat is really soft and jiggles with the knife but when you bite down it's just tender. The sides we ordered were the garlic mashed, truffle mac, and the broccoli and cauliflower. A great pairing for steak. My steak was the bone in filet cooked medium. It was more red than k anticipated but it was very tender and extra juicy. read more

*DISCLAIMER* The staff at Ocean Prime are WONDERDUL, however the management team needs training on how to handle unpleasant guests and race relations. The managers do not care about their staff as well as their patrons. I love Cameron Mitchell Restaurants as a whole, but after tonight will not be returning. read more
