Great customer service. The lamb chops and lobster Mac and cheese were great. Nice ambiance as well.

My friend had a birthday dinner reservation for a Friday evening. We had a private room for our table of six. The room was beautiful, had dimmed lighting and was very intimate. Perfect set up! This is a very formal establishment. Very modern yet simple décor and layout. This is a high end, high priced establishment. So do expect to drop some bills here! Our server Denise was fabulous. She was very nice, attentive and super accommodating. She really did everything she could to make our friend's birthday special, and it was apparent. Even though our party ended up staying past closing time being the last ones in the restaurant, she never once rushed us to close out our bill. We had... French Onion Soup Lobster Bisque Point Judith Calamari Surf & Turf Shellfish "Cobb" Salad Twin Lobster Tails Sea Scallops Roasted Brussel Sprouts For dessert, Butter Cake. The seafood here is very fresh. The lobster tails and scallop dishes were probably the best choices made. The lobster tail was perfectly cooked and delicious. The shellfish cobb salad was good and had a great light dressing. The only downfall was that there was barely any lobster, mostly just shrimp. It was hard to determine whether it was shrimp or lobster because it was chopped so much. The calamari and brussel sprouts were NOT good. The calamari was fried then smothered in a very sweet Asian like sauce. It was overpowering and made the calamari extremely hard to eat. Especially because someone had ordered this as an entrée. The brussel sprouts were mushy and just small thin pieces. And like the calamari, it was super sweet and very difficult to eat. This was the only thing we had leftover from everything we ordered. And for $12, this was a complete waste of a side. The lobster bisque wasn't the best. It wasn't smooth and flavorful as it should have been. The dessert was good, and also very sweet. Enough to share among the entire table. While some of the dishes were good, some of the other dishes were not worth it. It's definitely very overpriced. You can get equally good seafood elsewhere for much less. You are just paying ambiance and location here. Don't bother coming here unless you have meals to expense off! read more

I can't believe I hadn't written a review for this place yet. Pre-COVID I frequented at least 3-4 times a month for dinner, happy hour after work during the week and on Saturdays (happy hour). I've never had a bad meal or drink for that matter. My favs are the sea bass, oyster rockafeller, and ribeye. The lamb chops are pretty awesome too. They use to offer $1 oysters during happy hour Fridays. Not sure if that's still the case. The food is phenomenal and service is excellent. read more

Nothing but great things to report from public grand opening night. (I am not a food blogger, VIP, or anyone important enough to be invited to a soft opening or VIP unveiling so I think I get credibility points here lol) I was greeted promptly and excitedly by the front door staff. Courtney and Alicia- so sweet. They enveloped my best friend and I with a warm welcome and great hospitality. The ambience is appropriate for a steakhouse in the dining room, and appropriate for a steakhouse bar by the bar. They had live music, which I hope they continue on a regular and weekly basis. (It did not go unnoticed). Andrew, Fernando, and Felix serviced our table throughout the evening. Andrew, our primary server, was fantastic with his recommendations and advice. But they worked seamlessly through the dinner. Not intrusive, but never too distant. And always responsive! I was not expecting impeccable service, as we all know new restaurants have kinks... but there was no flaw to be sensed here. To drink- bubbles and berries, and a wine paired for our dinner dishes specifically. To eat - crab cake, snapper, filet mignon with blue cheese crust, asparagus with hollandaise, and jalapeño au gratin. Sides are made to share. My friends also dined on grand opening night and LOVED their dynamite sushi roll. Dessert- Baked Alaska... no Fire in the presentation, but woooooah was it amazing. Please- honestly, truly (I am not Joanne the Scammer and would never mislead you).... you must try. read more

Service Great, Food Great, Price Was DC Expensive - The service at Ocean Prime is very attentive, with great suggestions from our server and our server had a great attitude towards us and the other guests he was serving. The staff in this restaurant serve you in a team style approach, so you'll likely see several staff doing various things for you. I had a fish menu option, I think a seabass and it was delicious and my girlfriend also had a fish menu item, the salmon. We had a salad and we did the mushroom side dish. The mushrooms were really, really outstanding. The food was great but the place isn't a great value and it doesn't have incredible views or sublime ambiance. Ocean Prime is a very nice, expensive steak house and the staff did nothing disappointed us and the food was very good. I'd take a client here, but next time I'm spending my money in DC on dinner, I'd probably chose an ethnic cuisine that is offering dishes that I would have a tougher time cooking myself or a place that offers more food value for the money. If you're looking for a high end steak restaurant, this is a good choice. read more

The cocktails and cuisine is top tier. Highly recommend. Also has valet. Service and ambiance is great.

I've been here 3 times and the food and service remain the same...amazing! I've tried the sea bass and lamb chops and both were cooked to perfection. Each Sushi roll I've tried has been fresh and delicious. I was not a huge fan of the Mac and cheese or creamed spinach sides but the Brussels sprouts and asparagus are always good. The pineapple picante cocktail is may fav. The servers are always knowledgeable and attentive and to me that makes a great restaurant! read more

Food was pretty decent. Not amazing. But I had the fish not steak or likely their top seafood options. Old fashioned drink was perfect. Location and interior were nice and comfortable. Service at the bar was barely fine. Not good. While I normally wouldn't knock down a place on one dish because of personal preference I am knocking down a star for the service. Top notch service is one thing that makes a 5 star restaurant- even sitting at the bar. I'd go back though and wouldn't hesitate if asked. read more

I went here for a corporate dinner tonight and I must say that even with the "corporate pre-fixe" menu the food was delicious. I was able to sample the Sonoma Goat Cheese ravioli which had a rous-like sauce that was very tasty. The pasta itself was a bit overcooked but the goat cheese filling inside gave it great flavor. The Judith Point calamari was a highlight. It was sweet and crunchy and kept me going back for more. The jumbo lump crab cakes were delightful. I also had the Oceans Prime House salad which had a very tasty dressing. Now on to the entree, I went against the grain tonight simply because I did not want salmon (I ate some last night) and I was too hungry for a petite 8oz filet mignon so I opted for the only other protein option on the pre-fix menu, the Freebird Farms chicken. It was cooked nicely, however I'm more of a fan of the skin having a crispy texture as opposed to a soft texture. The flavor was good and it sat on a bed cheesy garlic crunchy croutons and spinach with pepper which was extra delish! The ambience was quiet and classy and the staff was very attentive. I will be going back to try more seafood. read more

Great service, food was delicious (surf and turf), and it was extremely COVID friendly. I got the filet with the South African lobster tail (1st time having this) and it was all delicious. It was plated well and the flavor combinations were exquisite. read more

This is the opening week, so I hope the quality of the food and cocktails will improve. The service is ON POINT, but there is nothing about the food or cocktails that made me say "WOW"! I do appreciate the Surf and Turf Sunday menu. It gives you an opportunity to sample items on he menu. The Surf and Turf appetizer was fabulous. I will return at a later time to sample more items on the menu before I give my final verdict. read more

Why have I not eaten here before?! First night had a great steak in the dining room (good wine list, too). Second night sat at the bar (super comfy chairs!) and had appetizers and a glass of wine. The ahi was amazing, as was the shrimp cocktail. The happy hour lamb chops were stellar! I will be back! read more

I tried this restaurant for restaurant week and overall it was great! We made a reservation for 7, and arrived about 10 min early. The hostess asked us to wait until 7 at which time they would find us, which was no problem, except that they then forgot about us, but we did get seated around 7:10. Other than that minor hiccup, the restaurant was excellent. The decor is very trendy, the service was excellent and the food was superb. One thing that my party and I really appreciated is that they did not shrink the portions or offer things not on their regular menu like many other more "upscale" restaurant week restaurants. The filet and scallops were both delicious and perfectly cooked, as were the desserts. The server also took time to tell us about other weekly offerings the restaurant has which we appreciated. Definitely worth a trip for restaurant week, or a special occasion! read more

Where do I begin? OMG everything was amazing! My life long friend and I were celebrating her birthday on Saturday night and had a fabulous time at Ocean Prime! It started with Owen who was an expert on all things OP. He gave us the history of the restaurant and went over signature dishes. We started with the berries on bubbles and the cucumber gimlet. Both were excellent. The appetizers alone were to die for and i swear by the Chilean Sea Bass. To top off an excellent evening we got to meet the executive chef Leo and the deserts, (which are a must!!) came out with happy birthday messages to my friend. We almost cried it was so beautiful. Leo is phenomenal everything was delicious. He is an amazing Chef!!! I really couldn't decide between his signature cinnamon bun bread pudding and the warm butter cake, so we shared both. I highly recommend Ocean Prime for any event especially a girls night out to spoil yourselves. Although it was a busy Saturday night we never felt neglected it was like we were Owen's only table and you could tell he gave the same great attention to everyone. Simply Awesome !!! Thank you for a wonderful experience :-) I will be back again. We are actually thinking of planning our girls trips around cities with an Ocean Prime in them. Tampa and Denver are next, although I don't know if they can come close to Leo's masterpieces. We will see. read more

This was a very intimate restaurant but it's still gave a sports bar vibes. As soon as you walk in you can still dress code is not enforced but it should be. Then they give you Club complementary popcorn while you wait to order. Since it was my first time and I was just here for a girlfriends group outing I did not order much personally. But my friends ordered something with breadstick they couldn't figure out what it was it exactly because it wasn't on the menu but it was something with shrimp and breadstick they thought it was smaller than what they came out to be. Then they got the lobster mac & cheese and I tried that it was OK. I'm more so of a homemade mac & cheese and it A crafty from the box taste. I ordered the dish with chicken and spinach as well as a tequila drink. I really enjoyed it but it was something in the spinach that threw me off not sure if it was the olive or not but I didn't care much for it. I would come back here for happy hour. read more

Service was great, the waiter really explained the menu very well and was able to answer all of our questions. The food was over priced for it's quality. I ordered the surf and turf special that included a steak, 3 shrimp, a crab stuffed lobster tail and asparagus. Everything lacked flavor except the brussel sprouts that I ordered on the side. I may be a bit biased because I went to Matro's three days before, but the steak does not compare. read more

Ocean prime racial profiled my family of 5 because of weed smell not knowing where it was coming from they decided to choose the 5 black gentleman while corporate members was attending this establishment and was invited back for appetizers as a form of trying to cover up they didn't want these black guys there at the time while it was important (?) guess there lol. This place and managers are rude and unprofessional and choose which nights blacks can wear and smell what they like over reservations. Be aware before attending because if they don't know where the smell is coming from they just might choose you. A birthday celebration was ruined and this is not the end of them hearing from me. It was a embarrassing moment and members from corporate was there from Dallas and still nothing was done. If I could give this place no stars I would. I've spent a lot of money here on many occasions and now this. So sad !! read more

I can not begin to describe how wonderful this place is!! The staff was exceptional as well as the food, (compliments to Chef Jason). I made reservations for 2 in advance, given the recommendation to do so. We arrived maybe an hour early, just to get a feel of the place before we dined. We were seated at the bar and given complimentary truffle popcorn that tasted like pure heaven!!! I ordered the Berries and Bubbles drink to start, mainly because the guest next to us ordered it and it looked very pretty, but it did not disappoint. My date ordered his favorite, vodka and cranberry and he was very pleased. You'd be amazed at how many people can mess up something so simple, but the bartender was right on point. We sipped and talked for an hour until our table was ready. We were seated in one of the main booths which was in view of all the other diners. Perfect!!! The booth was overly spacious which is good, and was very comfortable as well. Our server(s) came over within minutes of us being seated and introduced themselves. Seconds later, another server presented us with a complimentary champagne toast (given the request for a special dinner). I was shocked when this was offered when making reservations, but pleased nonetheless!! Our servers were extremely knowledgeable of the menu and gave really good recommendations. We ordered the shrimp sauté as an app! Presentation is everything to me and it was presented beautifully! The shrimp were served over Parmesan crostini's with a Tabasco cream sauce...very flavorful and the crostini's soaked up the sauce which was very good, so it wasn't like biting into a brick). For dinner, I decided to go with the 12oz. bone in filet (cooked medium) and added a blue cheese crust, garlic mash and roasted Brussels. My date ordered the Florida Grouper and Parmesan Truffle fries. I was sold when our meals hit the table!! This was by far the best filet I have ever had, tender and juicy with tons of flavor in every bite! The Grouper was cooked perfectly with a golden brown crust!! I honestly was so ready to dig in that I forgot to take a picture of the side dishes. Have you ever tasted something so good that you don't want to stop eating even after you're stuffed?? Yeah..that's what happened here. Lol my date is sort of a picky eater, so for him to clean his plate with minimal conversations once he started eating says A LOT!! Of course I couldn't finish all of my food, but it made a very tasty late night meal as well. For dessert, we ordered the 10-layer carrot cake to go!! Ate a piece for breakfast and it was very good! Next time we are in the city, we will be sure to stop back in to try something new! Thanks to the GM Alex in the nice blue checkered shirt with red buttons for stopping by our table to make sure we were having a great experience!! read more

This was our first visit to Ocean Prime. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere is one of understated elegance. The service staff was very attentive. It was old school staffing, a floor captain, a bus boy, and a server. Jessica was our waitress. She was outstanding in her service and recommendations. The food was delicious! We had the special 12 oz South African lobster tail. It was cooked perfectly - firm. The butter cake with fresh rasberry sauce and ice cream was the ideal dessert to top the evening. Having tried many of the top steak houses in the area, Ocean Prime is by far now one of the best to try. The ambiance is modern sheek with great lighting and decor. The energy is vibrant and the staff is very personable and attentive. Patrick took great care of us and pulled out all the bells and whistles to help make this anniversary celebration memorable. For the seafood lovers you must try the sauteed shrimp appetizer, a new favorite, along with the sea bass. For those that like surf and turf, get the New york strip and crab cake with the creamy spinach. We left feeling very satisfied and full. By far, the best experience that I have experienced in a D.C. restaurant. Primarily due to the customer service provided by our waiter, Owen. Owen provided prompt service, he was well versed with the menu and moreover his personality was the icing on the cake. All items were so delectable and with the overall experience, we will revisit Ocean Prime very soon! read more

Let's start with the best part. Our waiter Richard. He is a lovely man and an even better server. We came for our anniversary, and were happily surprised that it was half off bottles of wine (under $100) on Mondays! Richard recommended that we order the calamari and the shrimp sautée for appetizers. Both were absolutely amazing. For our meals, we got the scallops, the Chilean sea bass, and the twin lobster tails. All were so delicious. We also got the corn on the side and it was very enjoyable. Black truffle Mac n cheese!!! I'm still thinking about it service was awesome food was amazing!

Everything was great! The service, the drinks, the lamb chops and the birthday dessert was my favorite one all month.

I made a reservation at Ocean Prime earlier this week and I'm so glad I did. The server, Daniel, was one of the absolute best! He was extremely professional while still showing personality, which can be hard to find. I had to leave the other guest at the table before entrees were served (misplaced my phone at our last stop,) and when I got back Daniel immediately came over and told me he was having my entree remade. I would've never asked, so the fact that he did that was above and beyond in my opinion. From drinks to appetizers to entrees, everything served was wonderful but the service was outstanding. Daniel was attentive but not overbearing, professional without being robotic and truly made the experience amazing. I will definitely look for him next time I'm there. THANK YOU DANIEL!!! read more

Let me start off by saying get there early sit at the bar and eat the truffle butter popcorn! I love popcorn and this is the best I have ever tasted hands down! We were a party of 7 and everyone savored every morsel of food. We started off with Point Judith Calamari prepared perfectly light crunchy but not overdone, the White Truffle Caviar Deviled Eggs brought tears to my eyes and I did not want to share, and Lobster Roll was so good we order a second round. Our main courses were Swordfish, Florida Grouper, Sea Scallops, and the Chilean Sea Bass, all light flaky and perfectly seasoned. For dessert and at the insistence of our server we order the Warm Butter Cake. My God there is some old lady putting her foot in this cake in there kitchen. The restaurant is romantic, cozy, dark. The staff is friendly, service was excellent. read more

I went to Ocean Prime for a girls night out and was pleasantly pleased by the meal. I ordered the surf and turf. The steak basically melted in my mouth and the potato hash, spinach, and lobster tails were all very flavorful. My friends ordered the lamb chops and scallops and both were delicious. We even had great cocktails - Cucumber Gimlet and the Whiskey Clover. The popcorn at the bar was even delicious. Four stars because I had to send my steak back the first time because I prefer a medium rare that is a little more red (which was fixed promptly), our waitress wasn't that great, and the carrot cake came out cold and solid which made it unenjoyable. However, the Creme Brûlée was fantastic. I'll definitely go again. read more

Food - so so delicious. Chef knows what he or she is doing, no matter how critical you are going to be. And when I say it was good, I mean taste and presentation. As starters, we had Cesar and house salads, both very nice. As main course we got Teriyaki Salmon and Filet and I still can't decide which was better. They were both perfect! As for dessert carrot cake and ice cream, which after great first and second courses kind of disappointed us. Environment - cozy, lots of people but still quiet. You can enjoy great food while still have conversations. Not loud which makes it a perfect spot for any day dinner. Service - waiters were nice but sometimes hard to catch them to ask or order something. Our water forgot pretzels, which was kind of upsetting. Operations - ‼‼this is the reason I am giving this restaurant two stars instead of five. We had a reservation (placed at least a week ago) at 8 p.m and showed up there at 7:55, unfortunately they had huge lines and could not sit us until 8:35. After finally finding a table for us it took equally long for our orders to reach us. For example, after we finished our main course we had to wait extra 30 minutes for our desserts (carrot cake and chocolate ice-cream). And we ordered both when we ordered our first and second courses in the beginning. Overall, I think food is delicious and the restaurant pretty cozy, but because of its poor operations and the lack of proper planning I am giving this place 2 stars. I will be happy to be back only if I hear that they are more efficient. read more

I always get the lamb chops and love the crab cake sliders. Happy hour is priced at $10 bucks..... boy does it add up but you leave feeling good and full.
