I met some clients for dinner and the food was just so-so. Service was terrible - gave some of us lunch menus, kept serving wrong food to people, didn't bring drinks until we asked, waiter could barely speak English......and the waiter wanted to recommend a dish but could not describe it. "I recommend the oysters that comes with an amazing sauce. It's just absolutely delicious. Very juicy oysters from the ocean. The sauce is amazing." OK, what is this sauce? "it is....uh....it's.....very good.....it has cucumbers.....some vinegar so it's sour.....and it's sweet......oh, they also use tabasco so it's spicy. It's perfect. It's sour with a spicy sweetness. I highly recommend it." Wow, really? Ocean Prime House Salad - nothing special. Just a larger portion of a Panera Bread salad. NY Sirloin - OK, not bad. Creamed Spinach - OK Coffee - terrible The valet was rude as hell too. Asked me to pay up front. I told him I'll pay later but he kept saying I had to pay now. It was $18 and I gave him $20. He said that he didn't have change and will give me change when I picked up my car. At the end of the night, I asked him for my change and he said valet was $20. Maybe they were off their game that night but it was not a good experience for me or my clients. Guess we'll stick with Morton's. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. I went here for my birthday to try it out. To begin, the waiter is noticeably annoyed that we didnt order enough and literally says it to the waiter next to him (I ordered a $50 steak and my girlfriend had 2 appetizers......). The food comes and the steak is well done rather than medium (I just paid $50 for a steak its not ok to mess that up). The steak has no flavor whatsoever, no butter or salt or anything. I had to get A1 sauce because it was that bad. My girlfriend's salad is just drenched in dressing to the point that she can only taste dressing. The waiter checked on us once and again you could tell he was pissed the whole time that we didn't order more. Thanks Ocean Prime for making me feel cheap ordering a $50 steak and then giving me a terrible steak. Thanks for ruining my birthday. I will never be going to any Ocean Prime again. read more

Had dinner at Ocean Prime this weekend as a last minute thing and they were able to accommodate us for an early seating without a reservation. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is in the more and more popular Seaport district. The hundreds of bottles of wine stored behind glass walls on the main floor is a nice touch. We ate at the bar because we didn't have a reservation, which was fine. Our bartender was very friendly and he was an excellent bartender but not as good of a waiter. All of the cocktails we ordered were delicious except the Rum Punch which was pretty rough and he gladly took off our bill. The Berries & Bubbles is a fun experience and the Whiskey Clover and Kentucky Rose were both excellent. The apps started out OK. The oysters were fine, but anyone can buy and shuck fresh oysters. The sauce they provided was extremely heavy on the garlic and I would have expected something better. The "Surf & Turf" appetizer which was scallops and slow braised short ribs was delicious and was definitely the highlight of the night. The scallops were on the cooler side when we got them, but I'm going to blame service and not the kitchen for that. For entrees we ordered the Yellowfin Tuna, which despite being very specific and clear about wanting it rare came out distinctly overcooked. We also ordered the Grouper, which was just OK nothing special. Definitely underwhelming for a $37 dish. In the end, the reality is that there are so many better seafood restaurants and steakhouses in Boston and even in the Seaport that are at the same price point. With that in mind, I'm not sure why we would go back to Ocean Prime. read more

Really not what I was expecting, or looking for. Based on the description, I was hoping for something in between Sorellina and Del Frisco's. Instead it was more of a dressed up Houlihans. There wasn't much of a crowd when I sat down for dinner at the bar but that didn't stop people from ordering drinks over my shoulder. Something the bartenders should have discouraged by directing people to open areas; especially in a place like this. My appetizer came out immediately after I ordered, the bread came about 10 minutes later. My entree took about 1.5 times of the bartender coming over to assure me that the kitchen hadn't forgotten my order. All in all, there was about 30 minutes of lag between courses, a little too long for someone dining alone. Finally, when my entree (pork chop) came out, it was cooked to the consistency of charcoal on the outside (sushi on the inside) and was seasoned to the flavor profile of a salt lick. I would have complained but the live hipster-blues band that had started playing (live music before 8?) would have made that a fool's errand. Much like the rest of my meal. Maybe they'll work it out but I'm not likely going to try again to find out. read more

Our dining experience at Ocean Prime Boston was disappointing. We were a party of 6 and made a reservation for an outdoor table at 8:00pm. Upon our arrival just prior to our 8:00pm reservation, we were told that a table was not available and it would be a few more minutes. During this time we were asked to wait by the door, but then shortly after we were told we could not wait by the door and we were not given another alternative. This resulted in half of our party waiting outside of the restaurant. After standing for over 30 minutes, we were finally sat at our table, however, it was not until 10:00pm that we were served our meal. Additionally, during this time the women's restroom was completely out of paper towels and almost every stall had no toilet paper available. Finally, upon leaving we found that the valet drivers left our car unattended at the end of the street running (not even in front of the restaurant).  I reached out privately to OP Boston via email but never received a response, hence posting about our experience here. Given the high quality reputation and the standards for the brand, as well as the prices we paid for our meal, we were very disappointed in our treatment while dining here. read more

My sister and I went to this place for dinner. We had a great time with good, fresh, and delicious seafood. The service was great too, we sat at the bar and the lady who was serving us was very polite and kind. We definitely will come back to try their dinning area and see if they won't disappoint us. Until then we will give 5 stars. read more

This place has a lively ambiance, particularly in the main dining room. We started with drinks: the bitters in the Manhattan gave it a unique flavor (this is a good thing) and he dry ice in the series and Bubbles made for a fun presentation. There are lots of things to choose from on the menu: we went with lobster bisque, a couple of filets (one blue cheese crusted) and shared the black truffle mac and cheese. The bisque had a healthy amount of lobster in it and was pretty good, though not the best I've had. The steaks were perfectly prepared and matched nicely with our wines. The black truffle mac and cheese was fantastic! All in all, a very good meal with attentive and friendly servers. So why the low rating? My score reflects my overall experience, not just the first part of the evening in the dining room. There was live entertainment in the bar area thus we decided to stick around and have a few post dinner beverages while listening to the music. We enjoyed several drinks from the scotch menu and then decided to call it a night. As I went to sign my credit card receipt, I noticed that the bill seemed just a touch higher than it should be. I quickly scanned the itemized receipt and saw that I was charged more for each scotch than what was listed in the menu. No big deal--perhaps I got an old menu or some other simple issue here but I wanted to check with the bartender. He immediately and rudely blurred out "Tax. You have to pay tax." I pointed out that tax is a separate line item and that indeed the drinks were higher than listed. He then called a manager over to fix the error. I was still curious to understand the source of the problem and he proceeded to tell me that there is a surcharge when someone orders a drink near or on the rocks. I was flabbergasted as I don't know how else people tend to order off a scotch menu and queried further. He became defensive, stated, "I took care of the charge, what else do you want?" and stopped making any eye contact with me. I don't care about the money as it was a nominal amount but I do care about the principle. The bartender refused to give me a reasonable explanation which is fundamentally all I wanted. Is this an unscrupulous up charge that customers may unwittingly pay at the end of the night or is there a more benign explanation? Who knows. But unprofessional behavior that gives the perception of unethical practices leaves a bad impression in my book. read more

I'm their first customer!! As such, I was amazed by the elegance yet simple nature of the atmosphere. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly. To start the festivities, their was a leak on a column right in front of me. Of course I laughed at this, being a QA engineer, I always find faults. The service is great and their warm pretzel bread with soft butter was delicious! The fillet migon, done medium-rare was perfectly cooked. Topped with blue cheese added to the delicate texture and taste . The black truffle mac-n-cheese had a nice aroma but for my pallet, the texture and taste was too subtle. read more

Let me start by saying that Ocean Prime Boston is one of the top restaurants we have visited. Everything was perfect from our table to our food and drinks. The ambience is exactly what we expected, upbeat but not too loud or pretentious. Can't decide what should take top honors though, the food or the attentive service. Let me start with the service, our waiter Derek (Italian dark haired gentleman-sorry I didn't catch his last name) was great. Attentive, but not overly, never rushing us despite how busy the restaurant was and answering any questions we had. What set him apart from other service staff we have dealt with though is the following; we told Derek about a slight food aversion to a specific ingredient upon ordering. We are low key about it and just asked about the potential to eliminate this spice, within a couple of minutes Derek brought the Sous Chef to our table. He could not have been more accommodating in coming up with a couple of great alternatives-going so far as to offer to make a fresh order of risotto without the spice. Trying to keep it simple, we opted for a couple of easy substitute sides and he was incredibly gracious about it. Truly impressive, not only that our waiter took the time to speak to the Sous Chef, but that the Sous Chef actually took the time to come meet directly with us as opposed to just coming up with something on the fly. This truly spoke to the professionalism of your staff and the premium your restaurant obviously places on serving the customer. Kudos to them!! Now, let me talk about the food-5 STARS!!! Every dish, every drink, every bite, every sip was simply fantastic. The time and effort put into your dishes shows and your kitchen team deserves to know that their hard work is well received by the customers. Some will argue the price is high, yet you get what you pay for, and though you may pay more at Ocean Prime what you get in return is worth every dollar. Looking for a great night out with friends or a date, this is the place. read more

Strongly recommend reservations. Other than that it's a great place. Good food. Decent service. Available valet. Great people watching. What else would you want ? read more

I love this restaurant so much. My husband and I have been here several times, and we are never disappointed. I highly recommend a reservation, but this place is massive so if you walk in I doubt the wait would be too long. Every meal starts with an amazing bread basket which has soft pretzels and steaming hot fresh sourdough bread. This basket is dangerous, pace yourself. Service is attentive but not overbearing, they definitely want you to enjoy yourself and feel special. Since we've been here several times, we've had wait staff recognize us and remember things we like which is very nice and not very common these days, especially in a high end restaurant like this. We often skip appetizers, but they look amazing here. I always get the 6 oz fillet which is always cooked perfectly. I recommend pairing with a sauce, my go to is the bernaise. Sides are amazing as well, my favorites are the Gouda tater tots, jalapeño gratin, and brussel sprouts. You also MUST get the berries and bubbles cocktail, it's a real showstopper and is tasty as well. DO NOT LEAVE HERE WITHOUT HAVING THE CARROT CAKE!! We get this every time no matter how full we are and we always finish it between the two of us, but it could honestly serve 4-6. read more

My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband from Paris dined at Ocean Prime in Boston. We had a very enjoyable evening starting from the drinks to the dessert. Our server, Santos was excellent as he was personable and charming. He gave us great recommendations. The berries and bubbles champagne drink is a must have as it bubbles and smokes. It is certainly entertaining. My husband's steak was too well done, but the rest of the meals were very good. Santos recommended the butter cake with ice cream and it did not disappoint. Thank you so much! read more

This place was amazing. We don't have fine dining or fancy nights out where we are from, so this was a real treat. We had cocktails, the scallops and short rib sampler, wedge salad, cup of lobster bisque, twin lobster tails with asparagus, loaded baked potato, Kansas City strip cooked medium with side of scallops, warm butter cake and creme brûlée. Not one thing was disappointing. It was expensive, but very worth every penny spent. Service was excellent too. read more

Went with a work group - 15 people so I was able to try a number of dishes. Twin Lobster tails - way over seasoned! Killed the taste. (See pic) Clam chowder - hardly any clams & a ton of potato. Not good at all. Point Judith Calamari - really good Prime Steak Tartare - good if u like raw meat 14 oz NY Strip - good not great Lobster mash potatoes - really good. Great flavor & tons of lobster I wouldn't go back. read more

This place really is top-notch and checks off all of the important boxes in my book: Atmosphere, service and of course, quality food. The bar area often has live music and provides a fun, buzzing atmosphere, and the dining area has the perfect ambiance for a nice dinner out with friends or a date. They have a pretty extensive menu which has a little something for everyone. Their calamari is amazing and probably my favorite of the apps, but the "surf and turf" (short rib and scallops) and crab cake are also great. You can't go wrong with any of the steak options here as well. I've been here 3 times and the service has been A+ every time, with friendly, attentive staff. I highly recommend this place!! read more

I wish I could give them 10 stars. We visited the Dallas location. The overall environment was elegant and welcoming. Each portion of food arrived promptly, was delicious, and exactly how described. We had the crab cake for our appetizer, which was great. I ordered a filet (was cooked perfectly) and my colleague ordered the sea bass. I highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass. Our waiter was phenomenal. He was very well educated on the entirety of the menu. He made wonderful and honest recommendations. He was prompt, polite, and professional. I encourage anyone who has not eaten here to give it a shot! It is on the pricey side but well worth it. read more

Ocean Prime is located in Boston's up and coming Seaport District. It is right next to the pier and the interior is gorgeous. Right when you walk in you get a view of their wine wall! If I ever make it big, I'm definitely going to model a room in my house after that in Ocean Prime!! I came here on a workday during lunch because I was being treated by one of my colleagues! We were seated promptly and even though we had a reservation it wasn't busy at all. The restaurant is definitely a lot bigger than it looks. It was a pretty chilly day so I ordered the Lobster Bisque and ohmygod it was mindblowing. Not salty at all and the sweet corn fritters definitely made the dish. Delicious and crispy. I also got the Dynamite Roll which was okay. The rice had a little too much vinegar for my liking. One of my colleagues had the prime cheeseburger with fries and and the other got the dynamite roll and the tuna roll! Both seemed to enjoy it. To be honest, I was torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars. My biggest complaint was that my soup came out waaayyy before all of the other meals in the rest of my party. So I was awkwardly waiting for probably a good 10 minutes with the soup in front of me before I could finally eat it. But the fact that this meal was free and that the lobster bisque was so good pushed it over the edge! Apparently the have a gluten free menu as well which I think is pretty nice of them! Would definitely come here again..I want to try their sea scallops risotto (but come during lunch time as the prices are significantly cheaper!) read more

Date night - me and my lovely girlfriend decided to celebrate a little success at work and wanted to visit one of the upscale restaurants around. We're just tired of the Rosa's, LSs and what not, so this somehow came onto our radar for the 2nd time. Service - 5 stars Ambiente - 4 stars (it gets super loud on weekend days Fri-Sun - but we asked for a table in the more quiet area) Food - 5 stars Location - 4 stars (not sure if we missed the vallet, but I don't think they have one - might be wrong here though!) Prices - 4 stars Long story short - their appetizers are phenomenal, we've had some goat cheese dumplings and the sushi which was very good! Our main courses were some specials they've had that night - a bass and salmon on veggies Service was attentive, portions decent, drinks just fine (however their bubbly berry is a fun one (even though it's a bit pricy and just too weak for me to be worth $15or so)). Dinner for 2 incl. a few drinks, appetizers, mid-class bottle of wine, two entrees - $200 w/o tip. It was deffinitely worth the price, wish we could go more often! read more

I've been here a couple times for lunch and numerous times for drinks after work. I find it to be a little too "stuffy" for me. It's definitely pricey, although they do have a good prix fixe lunch menu. The times I have had lunch here, I have always felt rushed with the waiter bringing the check before anyone has finished eating their meals. Having a few drinks at the bar is definitely a different vibe. The bartenders are relaxed and outgoing. Some of the fancy cocktails take awhile to make so you may end up waiting a bit for a drink, especially on a Friday. The used to have truffle popcorn at the bar which was amazing but seems to have disappeared. I don't recommend the outside patio, it is in an awkward location on the corner of a busy street. read more

Absolute disappointment. My client wanted to go here. I knew by the menu I wasn't going to be thrilled. I wasn't that's the truth and I won't go back. Also, since when do you train your waiters to interrupt conversations at dinner tables to get your table orders? Say excuse me! read more

Such a great restaurant and right in the center of the seaport! I love the live music on Friday nights & highly highly recommend their berry drink that is made with dry ice while the presentation is awesome it tastes just as good. Most tender ribeye cut I've ever experienced. I considered it to be a tad under-salted, unfortunately, but it was expertly cooked, and as tender as butter. I'd say 4.5 real life rating, b/c I yearned for more salt and the dessert only wowed in size - not flavor. The apps were excellent, however; we shared the tuna tartare and the truffle deviled eggs. We only split one side, the parm fries, which were good (it'd be hard to f*ck those up). Oh, and my wife LOVED her sea bass ("well if that guy over there is C-Bass"); she said it was top 5 of her life. Overall service was top-notch. Our waiter mixed a small cocktail at our table, and recommended a wonderful wine for my wife's fish, and another for my steak. The hostesses, although too many of them, were quite inviting and the manager was very professional and welcoming. The ambiance was quite lovely too. The space is modern, but has an old school feel. If you can imagine a spectrum of vibe/decor/ambiance in which Del Friscos is on one end, and Grille 23 on the other end: Ocean Prime is in the middle. I'd like to see them add a burger to the bar menu, but either way I will be back. read more

For a high end dining experience this place does not disappoint. Attentive and knowledgeable service. Elegant and modern decor. Warm crispy bread to start. Goat cheese ravioli was superb. Not too overpowering. Simple iceberg salad fresh and crisp. I had the 10 oz filet Oscar Style with two seared scallops on the side. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The Bearnaise sauce was rich and tasty and the asparagus grilled nicely. The scallops were seared and cooked perfectly. My date had the Halibut. Very tasty and moist piece of fish. It came with lobster ravioli which was quite extraordinary. There was no room for dessert. Not inexpensive but worth every penny. read more

Had the crab cake entry. Very well prepared and balanced dish! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Great experience overall.

I've been to this location about 5 times. I've observed progressively lower standards each time. Last year the drinks were good, the staff was on-point, and the atmosphere was nice. Recently, I've noticed 1) Their bartenders are not properly trained, even for their own signature drinks. 2) The place smells. This weekend we walked in and the air was filled with the smell of, what I assume, was some kind of grease trap leak, BUT they were still seating people. It was bad enough that we had to immediately walk out when we arrived. 3) For some reason they have live music playing way too loud. It's so loud its uncomfortable to be seated in the bar area. read more

Wow. This place always amazing. We started at the bar where staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The garlic popcorn was a surprise. After being seated at our table, we were treated like the only people there. The food was amazing. I had the filet and the Alaskan King Crab legs. They were the best I ever had. The chef came to our table to see how everything was...which was a special treat. Our waitress was a good sport about everything. Good job Tamara. And then they talked us into the peanut butter pie. When we left we were full, extremely, happy and very satisfied customers. read more

This restaurant lays in the hot area of Boston seaport. This was my first time hearing of and visiting Ocean Prime, and it's hard to believe this is a chain restaurant, as my experience was fantastic and attention from its staff was perfect. We came here to enjoy my birthday celebration, and with a reservation ahead, we were sat immediately into a large spacious booth. Other parties around us were definitely loud but I enjoyed it as festive and prefer this type of atmosphere when dining out. We first ordered a couple cocktails that tasted excellent. Then we ordered the surf & turf appetizer, made of 2 fresh scallops, pulled pork, and mashed potatoes set in a dark flavorful sauce. I also had the twin lobster, both cooked fresh and just at the right texture and flavor. The asparagus that came with it was cooked just right. The fiancé ordered the 16oz boneless ribeye on medium rare heat. It was at a perfect pinkish-red all around. Truffle butter was extra but the combination with the steak was just perfect. We also ordered a clam chowder which was well seasoned and the blend of bacon, potatoes, and clams were enjoyable. We also received a complimentary dessert as part of my birthday, for which I ordered the blueberry cheesecake. We did enjoy it, but could not finish it because of how full we were. Great atmosphere and food overall, and I'd love to come here again for another special occasion. read more

I absolutely love it here. The lighting is very dim and perfect for an intimate setting. The service is great, the staff are so kind and everyone is so polite, so helpful and so friendly. I came here for my birthday back in September and got the truffle fries (so good. Fresh and not oily or skinny like most places). Got the lobster main which was two twin lobsters served w asparagus..I have no idea what drawn butter is and didn't like the way it sounded so the waiter suggested a butter like scampi which was popppin! Omg (very good). I also tried some shrimp sauté...omg lemme tell you! It's Tabasco sauced shrimp served w a cheesy baguette..to die! So good. I remember leaving very satisfied and full. Recently I went back and this time around ordered a drink which was the berries and bubbles. That cocktail was sweet, bubbling and so good. So sweet, it's got presecco, champagne and some other stuff. I definitely recommend that as a drink. For food we got the truffle fries and the shrimp sauté again (because I just loved them so much lol) but this time around I tried the lobster bisque - it was good, heavy and creamy and very filling. I also got the shell fish Cobb salad w.o bacon and that was really good. The shell fish they put it in are lobster, crab and shrimp, all the fixings you'd get in a Cobb salad (no bacon) w a house salad dressing. Very good. read more
