Lemongrass vermicelli with chicken. Pretty good
Mark F.

I ordered the lemongrass with vermicelli noodles today. I thought it was good but it really just didn't hit the spot for my lemongrass craving. The lemongrass was there. It just wasn't as prevalent as I like it, still I made a good attempt to eat as much as I could for a very large bowl. Restaurant is slightly small. Has maybe 12 tables or so but there is a little bit of side parking and the food is consistently good each visit. The staff here are very attentive and friendly.

Rare Steak Pho

Local hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant! Has friendly and fast service. Got the Rare Steak Pho. The broth was flavorful and not oily. It felt so comforting when I was under the weather and I almost finished the whole bowl (which I usually don't do). Good selection of Vietnamese dishes, but wished there was a larger pho selection (e.g, brisket), especially if Pho is in their restaurant name. Not as cheap as OC but less than $20; and is overall good quality pho and price for Hawaii!

Store front

Owner and husband were really nice. The food was great and place was clean. They have been at the same location for 20 years, but we never knew they were there. Will definitely be back!

Ocean Pho was formally Pho Bistro which has a few parking in front of the restaurant with 1 that is handicap and there is a parking lot on the side of the restaurant. I had the house special combination Pho which had slices of beef and beef balls and tripe with onions and the platter of fresh greens to add in if you wish. The broth was very tasty and the pho was good with lots of ingredients and this was the regular bowl. My wife had the tendon pho which she enjoyed and always order the tendon pho whenever she eats pho. We also ordered the crispy spring which came out nice and hot and crispy and with a good amount of meat filling. They also have a variety of crispy rolls with different ingredients. Restroom located on the side connected to the restaurant.

Ocean Pho, formerly known as Pho Bistro 2. Also known as "Pho Dai Duong". Still same great pho and other tasty Vietnamese dishes. Same great space. Same friendly service. Aunty Lien and son Tuan still serving with a smile. So many great choices to choose from. I always come for the pho. Soup is delicious and comforting. Meat is of good quality and generously portioned. The vegetables abundant, fresh, and my favorite variety of basil, sawtooth, jalapeño, and fresh lemon. It really IS my favorite spot on the island for pho! I keep on saying I will try their other popular dish which is the oxtail soup or the oxtail pho... but haven't been able to get around wanting the deliciousness of the combo pho (and they are often sold out of this item)! I shouldn't know this but their tapioca dessert is out of this world delicious too!! You can find Ocean Pho on most social media platforms. Instagram: oceanpho808. Facebook: Ocean Pho and Pho Dai Duong. Tiktok: @Ocea n pho808 . Ocean Pho shares parking lot with a space a spa, mini mart and a few other businesses. Get there when they first open at 10:30a or 4:30p and there will be no problem. Just don't visit on Tuesday when they are closed otherwise you be waiting a very long time!

This place has the BEST PHO and SPRING ROLLS. Can you tell from the picture my son took, as I always clean the entire bowl? We don't want to go any where else for Vietnamese. This is our go to...

Family was craving Vietnamese food and found this place as one of the most reviewed spot for pho in Honolulu. Decently sized store and wasn't busy. Seated immediately and ordered the large special pho. When it came out it was warm. The raw meat barely cooked through. Broth leaned on the saltier side and had decent noodles. Good amount of meat inside. Service was good they constantly refilled waters. Small parking lot behind the store or street parking.

The beloved oxtail

An old standby. We used to come here a lot when my office was nearby. It's a family affair, and it was always fun to see the boss mom who checked to see if you ate all your food. The oxtail soup is next level and could feed two people. The papaya salad is always my favorite side dish. The name has changed, but the food is the same.

Was conducting some business at the Moped Garage next door, so we dropped in for lunch, not really expecting much, but we were very surprised. Very unassuming from the outside, the inside is very clean, as in extremely clean. It's very nice indeed. Service was friendly and very helpful. Food was excellent as well (see pics). I would definitely come here often if I lived in the neighborhood. Highly recommended. Oh yeah, parking is mainly free street parking. Found an open spot on Fern Street.

Combination pho
Brennan H.

Came in and it wasn't super crowded. We just sat down at an open table as the guy motioned for what seemed to be anywhere. As soon as we sat he came over with water and menus. They have a pretty extensive menu with the typical vietnamese dishes. I chose the combination pho. It came out fairly quickly and was steaming hot. The broth had a nice flavor to it and the meats were all super soft and cooked well. The serve was friendly and refilled water often. Only thing for me is the place is a little dark as the blinds are closed. However I guess it's designed this way as it would probably be too bright with the sun beaming in if the blinds were left open. I'll be back to try their oxtail soup and it looked delicious! Parking: Lot on the side of the building with a parking attendant who will tell you where to park. Friendly guy.

If you're a tourist or a local doesn't matter if you're looking for five stop looking at other places this is your spot. I'm telling you if I lived here I would be here once or twice a week. I got the photo Tai absolutely amazing. The broth is absolutely amazing. The food is fresh and besides it comes with the basil and what not a full size plate they don't skimp on it. The first service is five star. The inside is nice and cold. I love the AC here I would maybe come for the AC and would definitely come for the pho. I'm writing this as I'm eating because it's that good. Just stop what you're doing and come here you'll thank me very legit and traditional. 10/10 would recommend.

:) meatball pho only
Jessica R.

They changed their name to 'Ocean Pho'! I like how bistro sounds better tho, in my opinion. I believe same owners, same great taste, same quality of food. Customer service is always great. Aunty and the team is always so nice! As always, I order my meatball pho only and spring rolls. Of all the pho places, I mean the quality here of the noodles, broth, meat , and all the food in general, is so great. Been to mama pho aina Haina, gosh, was so disappointing. Pho 777, disappointing. Pho saigon is alright, on Kapiolani. But bistro, or 'Ocean pho' is always my go to. Interior, dining restaurant always clean and sauces and napkins always replenished. I hope they don't change anything. 10/10 recommend.

Large pho with raw beef
Scott O.

We had the vermicelli with fried spring rolls and the large pho with raw beef. $33 This continues to be the go to place for the best pho in Honolulu. It has the best flavor of all the phos we have sampled across the U.S. it is not oily and tastes fresh and full of flavor. This version of vermicelli is hard to find so there aren't many places we can compare it to. It's one of our regular dishes and doesn't disappoint

The only reason why it's not gettin a 1 is because the Ambiance and food was decent. The server barely paid any attention to us from coming in to leaving. While taking our order I asked for a coke and she just walked away. Normally servers ask for anything else or is that all.... Just took our order and left mid conversation. The pho came out good, but the chicken wings had 0 flavor to it. It was suppose to be garlic butter sauce but tasted more like fryer oil then anything. Food was a 3/5. Upon finishing our food we asked for a take out container and the server said she'll get one. 5 mins went by and nothing. I went to pay at the register and asked for one there. Went and sat back down to pack up the wings to give to someone on the street. As we're sitting, I noticed one of the servers taking pictures of us from the counter. Didn't try to hide or anything. Just to make sure I moved around my head to see if she'd move and every time I moved my head she turned the camera. The same server who we asked for a take out container came up to our table and said I need to pay again because payment didn't go through. Mind you I paid cash. I then stated Oh? I paid cash? How does cash not go through? She said oh, then asked the guy who rang me up and not even an apology or anything. The whole service there was rude and just crazy. I just left and won't be coming back to this place for sure. Not authentic Viet food or service.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

Another chose Chicken Pho (Mien Ga, $17.75) while the third tried the Vietnamese Beef Stew (Bo Kho, $19.75). We split a Classic Combo Banh Mi ($15.50). My vermicelli dish was fine, on par with the one at P** V******, but maybe not as good as the one at K*** V********* C******. I didn't hear any complaints about the Mien Ga. The Beef Stew was petite but came with two large pieces of toasted baguette. I was disappointed in the banh mi ... the baguette felt stale and there weren't enough pickled vegetables (do chua) and cilantro for me. I can get a better banh mi for $11 elsewhere. What did I think? The food was okay, but we could get comparable dishes for less money at three places in Chinatown. I was hoping for more ... As such, a rating of 3.75. While the servers were nice, we did order ahead of time and showed up when the Beluga app (where we ordered off of) told us to show up, but I ended up waiting 15 minutes at the restaurant later than I was supposed to get my food. Additionally, the staff seemed to forget I was sitting/waiting for my food. My suspicion is that the online ordering service isn't actively monitored and our order wasn't started until I actually showed up to the restaurant to pick up our food at the designated time. The food was okay for us. I'm a big Banh Mi fan and was looking forward to eating their Combination Banh Mi, but unfortunately the Banh Mi seemed a little rushed in preparation and lacked flavor. My husband on the other hand, ordered their Combination Pho and it absolutely did not disappoint. Although their Banh Mi was not as delicious and flavorful as I expected, their Pho was the exact opposite of that. They give you a generous amount of broth and their portions of greens was beyond enough (maybe a little bit too much for one serving). The last food item to talk about are their Spring Rolls. It wasn't anything too special compared to your usual Spring Rolls, but I will say that their dipping sauce and everything else that comes with it (rice noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots) made it so that you could easily make it a meal vice an appetizer. If you're looking for a cozy place to have dinner, their space was a bit crowded but if you're okay with then this place is good. Just be warned that their prices are a little bit on the higher side in my opinion and be prepared for long wait times to receive your order.
