Just got done eating breakfast here a little while ago with my family, we were all very pleased with this diner! I got the Quaker breakfast and added two pancakes, that was more than enough food for me! The food was great and the pancakes were awesome, just the way I like them! It's not too bad of a drive for us that we will most definitely be coming back again! Our waitress was very friendly and she did a great job with getting everything right that we ordered! I love the old diner look of this place wish there were more of these around Indiana! The only thing this diner needs more of is to play 50s-60s music to get that diner feel, that would be great! They did play a few oldies while we were there! If you haven't been to this diner you really need to give them a try, food is great, service is great and the ambience is great! The menu is fantastic...the specials are unique and the portions are large enough for 2 meals. Also have omelets, sandwhiches and a la cart. Adorable little diner that transports you to a time of sock hops and poodle skirts. I recommend sitting in the front of the restaurant that is the 1950s original diner. They also have added additional space in the rear and have outdoor seating as well. The menu is filled with all the goodies including flavored soda fountain drinks (I highly recommend the butterscotch rootbeer), tenderloins, burgers, sandwiches and salads! I ended up with the grilled cheese and fries while my friend raved about their chicken tenders. Unfortunately, we were both too full to try out their amazing looking desserts (think homemade pies galore!) and milkshakes so we will definitely have to come back. Yep! I am a fan. Make the way some 20 minutes west of Indianapolis to a historic landmark nestled in the sleepy old downtown of Plainfield, IN. Proudly established in 1954 and had seen a series of closings at an old location, Don and Doug saved this west side institution from sure uncertainty. After much ado, the facade was transported a few miles west on the edge of town and was reborn. It boasts breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items and classic 50'a favorites from hand dipped milk shakes that you can enjoy for $0.50 on Tuesdays aside coffee or hot chocolate for only $0.25. We also discovered road-side diner classics such as The Original Tenderloin, hand flattened and coated in a light and flavorful breading or just get it grilled. This mammoth tops the scales and overlaps the house-made buns. I challenge you to eat it all and not loosen your belt. The fries, a nice combo basket partner, are also cut in house and lightly fried to golden brown perfection. Let's not omit the soon-to-be famous Oasis Burger that is loaded with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, BACON, cole slaw, pickles, cheddar cheese on an 8oz burger patty. If you want to enjoy something a little less tame, but equally tasty, the Quaker Burger will hit the spot. It doesn't get its' name from the oatmeal namesake, but from the local high school mascot.We also sampled the thick-cut, slightly tangy, and evenly crisp Southern Fried Pickles. Not your typical dill here though as the monsters are 3/8" cut discs and lightly battered. We were served an ample amount and felt it was worth the $5.50 price tag. Let's not forget the breakfast items, such as, a build-your-own omelet that starts off with three eggs and you pick the rest from a myriad of toppings. Choose from veggies, cheeses, and meats including shrimp, corned beef, sausage gravy, chili, pepper jack, provolone, American, cheddar, Swiss, bleu, feta (to name a few), or a vast variety of other mixers. The Atlantic City stuffed French toast will hit the spot with thick cut toast stuffed with cinnamon, cream cheese, strawberries, and coated with powered sugar. They feature a whole host of city favorites from SF to KC as well. Last but not least, something we discovered as a real hit was the handcrafted flavored sodas from classic, diet, lemon lime, cherry vanilla, orange and red cream, root beer and butterscotch root beer (score!). All of which are produced locally, naturally sweetened with NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. Impressive. We were gladly surprised to re-discover this fresh breath from the past. Sit at the counter, two tops, four tops, or tables for larger parties. We chose a window seat, waited about 10 minutes for a table, about 3 minutes to order, and almost 15 minutes for our entrees. The Oasis Diner is a place with good food and for those of us who are old enough, to recapture the feel of the old style diners of our youth. I have been there twice recently and enjoyed the dining both times. The first time I went (4-26-16), I stopped in by myself for lunch. There seemed to be a pretty good sized crowd for a Tuesday. I grabbed a seat at the counter and took in all the details that seemed to be faithfully recreated. I placed my order and also placed a "to go" order for my wife who was unable to go with me. For myself, I ordered the Grilled Pork Tenderloin and cole slaw. Now I know that Indiana is known for outrageous sized tenderloins, but I prefer good taste to mass quantity every time. I ordered the tenderloin grilled and was very pleased with the taste and texture. The cole slaw was good too. For my wife's order, I picked up the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. I managed to sneak a sample of the sandwich and fries and both were really delicious. My next visit was on 5-13-16 for lunch again. This time, my wife was able to join with me and she really seemed to enjoy the look of the place as well. The service was friendly and timely too. This time, my wife ordered a strawberry milkshake which the waitress was kind enough to split into two fountain glasses. Really tasty! She also ordered the soup and sandwich combo: Tomato bisque soup and the Club Sandwich half. No stingy portions on the sandwich. She seemed quite content. I decided to try the Oasis Burger (1/2# beef, pulled pork, barbecue sauce, bacon, cole slaw, pickles, cheddar cheese, garlic mayo on toasted bun.) This is a meat lovers sandwich!! And if I didn't get enough cole slaw on the sandwich, I got another side of cole slaw too. (Can you tell I like their slaw?) All in all, it isn't a fancy place. It's a diner with good food. There happens to be a city park right behind the diner to walk off some calories if you find yourself indulging too much. There is also outdoor seating for nice days. Went here for breakfast this morning and had amazing food! I got the Indianapolis breakfast and it was so delicious. The pork tenderloin was one of the best that I have had. My boyfriend had the Quaker meal and he enjoyed his as well. They were ready to go as soon as we walked in right when they opened. I will definitely be returning here in the future. For the Pokémon people, there is a Pokestop that you can reach from the restaurant and there is also a gym. I could reach the gym from where I was sitting but you might I'm the other side of the building or the parking lot. read more

After a few additional visits, I'm lowering my rating from 4 to 3 stars. The service isn't getting much better. Everyone is really nice (this is Plainfield, after all), but promptness and attention isn't getting better. The deal sealer was the Eggs Benedict this morning. First, they don't serve it with any side. It's got bread, it's got meat, it's got eggs. Is it missing something? It checks the boxes. But, a small serving of home fries or fruit would have made the plate not look so sad and empty. Second, the hollandaise sauce was wrong. I'm not sure what happened, but it was not pleasant. The ham was cooked good and had good flavor. The poached eggs were perfect. The roasted tomato on top was a great favor kick. But the sauce... Looking at other Yelper's photos, I'm guessing they screwed up my hollandaise but chose to send it anyway. It had no flavor what so ever. I tasted it several times, and got a touch of spicy heat from it, but definitely no lemon flavor or butter flavors. Even adding salt to it didn't help. The consistency was that of a pale yellow mayonnaise and not a velvety sauce. I want to love you, Oasis. I really do. read more

One of my most bizarre dining events in some time. Good thing my friend and I had a lot of catching up to do, because it was 30 minutes before our drink orders were taken. When we mentioned that no one had been to our table, we were told it was the "changeover" and it would be 10-15 more minutes before an order was taken. We were about to leave when suddenly our drink order was taken. We got there at 12:30, and they closed from 2-4, so I don't understand the "changeover" at 12:30 Our food was okay, but waiting 30 more minutes after we ordered grilled cheese and soup? Strange. Plus, I can still taste the onions in it hours later. The parking lot was packed, and many people were there, but something didn't add up. read more

My wife and I went to Oasis Diner for the first time this evening on a recommendation from a friend, and we were not disappointed. Nice and attentive staff, wonderful vibe and space, and even better food and drink. I had the patty melt sandwich with some sweet potato fries, and my wife had the deluxe grilled cheese with normal fries. I absolutely loved the patty melt, and it was the best sandwich I had eaten in months. The homemade house Italian dressing, sultry onion, and grilled burger on toasted rye bread made my Friday night magical. Yes, magical. My wife is not a big fan of tomato and other such amenities to sandwiches, so she took it off of her deluxe grilled cheese, and asked for the homemade relish on the side. The two cheeses they use for the sandwich may have been offset by the tomato and relish being added with the bacon, but just the cheese and bacon on the sandwich made the main sandwich portions a bit overwhelming. THE BEST PART about the Oasis Diner for me was the homemade soda. Oh my gosh. I want to go back and try it all. I had the homemade root beer (I'm not usually the biggest root beer fan, but the waiter recommended it to me as his favorite, and I'll try anything once), and it was the best root beer I had ever had in my extensive root beer tastings over 22 years of life. Coupled with attentive and friendly staff and a unique and nostalgic building, the Oasis Diner made for a wonderful Friday evening in Plainfield, which was increased by the incredible food that they serve, as well as my lovely wife for company. One of my favorite places for breakfast on the west side. Can't beat the $4 early bird before 9 am with bacon, eggs, grits and toast. Breakfast all day so the Indianapolis is hands down my favorite. It's a breaded tenderloin with country gravy, 2 eggs, home fries, and toast. So delicious and filling. They also bake their own bread and serve local soda in 11 flavors. Great experience. We waited several months after it opened to try it, because we heard there were issues at first. Well, the issues are resolved. We had a party of 11 on a Thursday morning and there was plenty of room. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had the create-your-own omelet and it was delicious. It came with toast made from their own house-made bread and it was some of the best toast I've ever had. My kids had pancakes, french toast, and stuffed french toast, and they all loved it. The portions were pretty large. One of my kids had the biscuits and they were excellent. The bill was very reasonable. We will definitely return. read more

I like Oasis. I love supporting locally owned places, and the food is great. Nice patio on sunny day. However, service is often very slow even on days without a lot of customers. Just be prepared to be there at least 1.5 hrs. I've had some misses on food here such as the fried fish. The batter did not stay on the fish and the oil tasted a little stale. The grilled cheese with tomato relish, bacon, and avocado is amazing along with their roasted tomato bisque. Consistently delicious! My husband swears by the eggplant parm sandwich. We ordered 2 meals and 2 desserts for pickup on Sunday and was very disappointed in the food. We are not first time customers so this was a bit of disappointment. The pork tenderloin was chewy, overcooked, greasy and bland. The breading was blackened and separated from the meat. The lettuce was wilted and the tomato was sour. The French fries were mushed together in grease in cold clumps. The Dutch apple pie was frozen and mushy. The peanut butter pie was a runny mess with a crumbled up crust. So....needless to say we didn't finish the meals and threw out the deserts. Sadly we will have to pass on eating here again. read more

The atmosphere of this place is fun to say the least. Plenty of memorabilia to keep you reminiscing about days gone by. The food was absolutely phenomenal - portion sizes that go way beyond your expectations. Our waiter was really good - stayed on top of our drinks and brought anything we needed. The only thing I would say is that they've really got to work on their ticket time. We sat for probably 30 minutes after we ordered - and this is stuff I could make in my own kitchen in about 7-8 minutes (all breakfast food.) Recognizing this little diner from a music video and that it had closed down. My interest started as they moved it west of it's location and began to put it back to it's original nostalgia. Finally open, the first few weeks there was no chance of getting in. While driving home one night we just happened to get in. Cute inside, staff very nice, but your basic diner. The food was pretty decent although just a little pricey. I am glad we stopped in, and if you are in Hendricks County and out by Plainfield, it's worth stopping in at least once. read more

Quite possibly one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! I ordered the Kansas City, which is their biscuits and sausage gravy topped with fried potatoes, 2 eggs (your choice), and cheese ( I skipped the cheese). It was soooo good!!! My husband had the Denver Lumberjack breakfast. It included 2 pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon and 2 sausage patties. They were served with piping hot syrup!!! They were delicious!!! when you step through that door you are transported back in time to when people sincerely did not give a damn. the food here is the big business. with more than a couple top tier options i settled with my one and only Eggs Benedict. my plate graced the table with a pile of crispy golden hash browns and next to that was the most extravagant looking Eggs Benedict i had ever seen. laying on a golden brown crispy english muffin, sits a perfectly sizzled piece of canadian bacon. on top of that you have the on par poached egg glazed with the creamiest hollandaise sauce topped with chives. that my friends is a winner - it's so much a winner that you could be crazy as i am and get it tattooed to your calf. just go get the damn eggs benedict! thank me later. read more
