The staff does not engage at all, which is intended to streamline the process; however there was still a 40ish minute wait, with a 20 minute pause on new orders to catch up. I can assume there was a malfunction of equipment or a lack of prepped toppings, but the staff seemed pretty nonchalant and were moving with no sense of urgency, which was surprising. The lack of customer interaction really impacts the experience, people will naturally become impatient and it's exacerbated by the non-existent customer service. I would suggest pausing online orders instead of pausing the line, as those orders tend to be high volume and crowds the already limited space with drivers doing pick up. It would benefit them to please the customers they are face to face with, and create loyalty by being considerate of people's time. I enjoyed this treat but I wouldn't return just based on the system they currently have in place. If you visit, make sure you are not in a rush and are well aware of what you signed up for. They have one in Koreatown that we liked as well and then perfect that it is also here in Pasadena! You will NOT regret trying this. I think any flavor is so good. This store is smaller than the ktown location, with only 5 tables to sit in store. You have to find your own table. And the staff didn't help with assisting you reasonablly allocating tables. A couple times we came here on a weekend night, some guests with only 2 people would be sitting at a 4 person table that were 2 smaller table put together. The store is small with multiple tables lining the walls. The problem becomes where you order, where you pick up, where the bathroom is, where u place the trays as well as where you sit is all in the same general area and direction thus causing a massive bottle neck of people moving in every which direction. Which just causes needless confusion and traffic. You can only order at the kiosks. There's only 2 of them. So when there's an influx of people it gets even more crowded. Fortunately the staff here (kitchen is behind the kiosks) can get the shaved ice out pretty quickly so it keeps the line moving. If your fortunate to snag one of the tables inside then great, if not you have to either wait for a table to open up or go eat outside (standing up). The actual shaved ice is pretty good and refreshing. We got a green tea shaved ice with extra sweet milk and mocha and red bean on the side. A personal one was good for 2 people. One lady was taking over ten minutes to order on the kiosk because of that. There were only 3 workers who are doing their best despite the craziness of the queue. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited an hour and a half due to understaffing and inefficient queue management. Only one kiosk was available for customers to place orders. Management should consider adding additional kiosks or displaying a real time menu for customers to see what is available to order while waiting in line, as several items were either out of stock or became out of stock after orders were already placed. With the current system, you will need to wait at the store for your number to be called. Because waiting areas are small, management should really consider providing an option to text customers when their order is ready, especially if there can be long wait times and limited seating. This probably would have prevented a lot of the angry customers during my visit. If customers will already be providing their phone numbers when ordering at the kiosk, it feels silly to not utilize that to reduce crowd congestion. This location also suffers from severe understaffing. There were only 2-3 staff working for a highly congested store on a hot day. The ordering kiosk was temporarily shut down for the staff to catch up on orders. This should not have needed to happen, let alone on multiple occasions (based on other reviews). Demand and adequate staffing should have been properly forecasted by management before opening store doors. It is not acceptable to choose a small store space that does not align with the demands of your target demographic, employ 2-3 staff members for the work of at least 5 staff members, and treat customers' time as collateral damage. Lastly, the bingsoo itself was not bad but not justifiable for the hour and half wait. A bit too sweet for my liking. I personally would not go back if customers' feedback are not taken seriously and changes are not implemented to address understaffing and inefficient queue management. read more
