I have been a fan of this restaurant in the past but my last few times there have been very disappointing! The menu has narrowed or changed such that there are only a few items that don't have a ton of processed meats like bacon, sausage, pepperoni, etc. I ordered the shrimp tacos and for the second time after ordering this dish had a stomach ache afterwards. In addition, the wait staff is unfriendly and seems mentally checked out! Great place to grab lunch in Laguna Beach. The dining room is large and breezy, with indoor and outdoor seating where you can enjoy a view of the water while you eat. I ordered the Taco Cart, which is a sampler of each of Oak's tacos - short rib, pork belly, octopus, and Cajun shrimp. All of the tacos were very good, with the pork belly and the Cajun shrimp being the standouts. They were indescribably delicious. The Cajun shrimp taco had large, perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp that snapped when I bit into them. The pork belly taco was overflowing with succulent pork belly, and I had to eat some of the pork belly before picking up the taco to eat the rest. So good! In short, I was super impressed with the great food, friendly service, and incredible view at Oak. I'll be back for sure. read more

We ordered the fried calamari, clam chowder, shrimp tacos, and the burger add bacon. The food was outstanding. The fried calamari steak was cooked perfectly and very tender. The clam chowder was excellent. It was more on the broth side. The layers of flavors were outstanding and it had excellent clam flavor. My wife had the shrimp tacos. The corn tortillas were homemade and outstanding. They crisp the cheese on the inside of the tacos. The shrimps were excellent and the line crema was off the hook. I have the burger add bacon. The flavor of the patty was excellent. I ordered the burger medium and it was cooked perfectly. The arugula is a great addition as it cuts through the Wagyu patty. Everything we ordered was just outstanding and Oak does not skimp on the the ingredients. Oak is a must try the next time you find yourself in Laguna Beach. read more

The last time I felt this way, I paid $30 bucks for a burger in Iceland. Anything close to $20 a burger makes me feel kinda broke. The burger is darn good. Small plates: - Crispy Duck Drums: I love the sauce, but the duck seemed overcooked - Stuffed Portobello Mushroom: Very fresh and super tasty. My favorite item. - Charcuterie Board: Good spread; always a good share option. Oysters Rockefeller: super yummy, but I didn't taste the prosciutto. Short Rib Tacos: Ordered extra crema on the side. Well filled! Great for us to each have a taco. Flourless Chocolate Cake - wouldn't recommend it, it was very dry and stiff. Didn't seem fresh. They have a great selection of crafty cocktails. First time coming here and was very pleasantly surprised by how great the food, service and ambiance were! Food: great quality ingredients with something on the menu for everyone. I had the Branzino fish, it was apparently a new menu item. I really enjoyed it; very fresh and well seasoned. It was a whole fish which I liked, however, I think for some people it may be a bit daunting. Other people in our party got the hot chicken, ahi stack, shrimp tacos and the kids chicken fingers. Everyone gobbled up all their food and loved it! The chocolate brownie/salted Carmel ice cream was a clear winner as well Service: Our server was Carrie and she was awesome. This restaurant had a GREAT vibe. We had a reservation for 9pm Saturday night and we were seated right away. I was wearing a dress and the hostess offered me a blanket to place on my legs since it was a little chilly outside. So sweet! Everything from the customer service (shoutout to our server Bryan!!) to the food was amazing. We shared the oysters, Chilean sea bass, and the short rib tacos. SO GOOD. Best sea bass I've ever had. Came here for a late lunch around 3pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was full but we were able to get seated at the bar. The drinks are good and strong, but the alcohol taste was not overpowering. The kumai oysters on the half shell were fresh and sweet and the oak oysters were refreshing and the bits of cucumber added a nice crunch. The shrimp tacos were okay, I didn't like the tortilla because it was too thick but the flavor was good. The short rib tacos were yummy but full of oil. Our last night at Laguna beach and we tried this place on a whim. I'm glad that we did. I had the best Chilean sea bass in my life. It was perfect. Perfect crust on the outside and the fish just melts in your mouth. The calamari, albacore stack and stuffed portobello mushroom was excellent. Their signature cocktails were also good. Our server Austin was awesome. The chef was also making his rounds at the table and he was super cool. I am now a fan. I am sure to visit this place whenever I am in Laguna beach. read more

Our food came out quickly and our waitress served us with a smile. We ordered the calamari, duck, pork belly tacos, and wagyu burger. Nice presentation and food was good. The calamari needs more seasoning though. I enjoyed the duck and the arugula salad served with it. I liked pork belly tacos and my husband liked the burger and fries. The way the served the fries made it stay warm for a long time. Ambience is nice and service was quick. It's right above Gina's Pizza and we just parked on the street which was metered. DEEEE-LISH. Came here for a work dinner tonight, and we all mixed and matched entrees since we were torn. Two Chilean seabass plates and two pork plates. I was team bass, but everything was amazing. The staff is beyond attentive. Our waiter gave us no trouble for sharing and offered to bring us extra plates. We were checked on countless times by our waiter, the bussers, and even chef Chris. We enjoyed the dessert sampler, and two of my coworkers ordered coffee. It was freshly made and smelled fantastic. I guess they had made too much, so our waiter actually brought out to-go cups of coffee as well. I thought that was so nice. We stayed about an hour past closing (too much work talk), but we never felt rushed out. I wish they stayed open later! The service was a little slow but the hostess jumped right in to help, so I'm still giving them 5 stars. Food was excellent and the location is great. We had the salmon, filet mignon and mashed potatoes (which brought us here, after trying them out at Taste of Laguna - but I thought it was short rib ) and pork chop. As for the front of the house, the staff is beautiful, they are always very engaging and fun.
