SPICY CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH
Sue L.

It's got an ocean view; it's in Laguna Beach. Hence, I love it. It's not on the ocean side of PCH, but since it's on the second floor, you still get a nice view. The menu is varied, something for everyone. Service is friendly and easy. It's got both indoor and outdoor space. I enjoyed it!

FRENCH FRIES ($11)

Celebrated Mother's Day brunch at Oak Laguna Beach and overall had a nice experience. We made a 10 AM reservation through OpenTable and were seated right away, which was appreciated on such a busy holiday morning. The staff was very friendly and welcoming throughout our visit, and the patio seating offered beautiful views. We tried the Eggs Benedict, chilaquiles, breakfast skillet, Italian chopped salad, and the French fries appetizer. While everything was good, the food itself felt fairly basic considering flavor and serving size. Service was a bit slow when it came to receiving both our food and the bill, although it definitely started getting much busier around 10:30-11 AM because of the holiday crowd, so that likely played a role. One thoughtful touch was the complimentary heart-shaped chocolate dessert they gave moms for Mother's Day, such a sweet gesture. All in all, we're glad we gave it a try, but will probably explore some other nearby brunch spots next time we're in Laguna Beach.

Haven't been here in a while and as always trying something new. I've had their calamari before so you known had to get that again. I liked the Ajillo shrimp it was delicious! The flavors were savory and I loved how it came with slices of bread to dip into the soup I was where the shrimp was nicely placed and with the side of semi-spicy thinly sliced carrots. It was a perfect crunch there. I ordered their Berry Spritz. Watching my intake of Alcohol, but that was very refreshing; a bit tart but perfect blend altogether. Our server was attentive and fast with our food and drinks. My friend and I did reserve a spot ahead of time which I think is best to do. As always, the overlook of the ocean from where we sat is beautiful and the establishment is always neat, clean and organized. I love the vibe here. So cheerful.

Came back and was pretty disappointed. It seems as if the one waiter is also the bartender. He was so awesome but that's horrible management. I felt so bad for the guy. The food also took so long because I bet they are short staffed in the back. We got raw ceviche and raw ahi tacos so it shouldn't have taken long. Food was good, as always though.

BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST

I didn't see that mimosa special anymore. It was pretty dead when we went on a Saturday for brunch. We split the chilaquiles, French toast and chicken pesto sandwich. Everything was good but nothing was amazing . I wish the chilaquiles would have had more short rib on top. My favorite part was actually the truffle fries

Wow! This is my second time going to Oak and I have nothing but good things to say. The owner is so kind and truly cares about the customer experience. I went for my birthday dinner but didn't tell him until the end and he insisted I sit back down for dessert (which was delicious by the way) overall I recommend, if not just fit the food but to support this amazing owner.

KALE & BRUSSEL SPROUTS CAESAR SALAD

I'd recommend a reservation. Dinner was fantastic, had their kale & Brussels salad with blackened chicken and the flavor was great. I tried some of my husband's sea bass and it was very good. Great spot for a date.

Sunday morning people watching on the balcony with no wait to seat. A relaxing way to spend time with the significant other. Not to mention Holland's fantastic drink making skills. We only had the chance to try the fried chicken and waffles which were fried to perfection.

Hosted my graduation party here and it went great! Tony (the owner) was very helpful in organizing the details with me in advance, clearly communicating, and accommodating my party requests (decor, bringing custom cake, turning off music for special toast, reserving our table of 20 with great ocean view). He even created a custom menu upon my selections and the food was delicious as always!

Amazing food, fantastic service, and the perfect ambiance. Every part of my experience at Oak was exceptional. The Oak Burger was hands down the best burger I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and worth coming back for on its own. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and made us feel genuinely appreciated from the moment we arrived. Even the little details stood out, like validating our parking, which made it even more convenient and enjoyable. Honestly, 5 stars doesn't feel like enough for this restaurant. Oak absolutely exceeded expectations, and I can't wait to come back.

Fantastic and friendly service, breathtaking ocean views, and delicious food that you can tell was made with care. Ceviche was very good Artichoke appetizer, delicious--I had it without cheese and sauce on the side. Farmer's Market (vegetable and quinoa) stir fry was superb; had it topped with avocado, but you can also add shrimp, salmon, chicken, or beef to it.

Came here with friends for lunch and loved everything from the location, the vibes, the service, and the food! We got the tacos and although the size was smaller than we anticipated based on what our waitress described (according to our friends who had been here before, the dinner portion was larger for them than the lunch portion was for us) every component was fresh and tasty, from the meat to the salsa and the lime wedge on the side. My husband mentioned the dessert was the only area for improvement as it was overly sweet and not particularly compelling but the lunch itself was fantastic. Our friends both enjoyed their lunches as well. Overall would recommend for the taste of our lunch and the ambiance and friendly service

Tomato soup with grilled cheese was so good and we also got the artichoke Alfredo with shrimp.

We parked across the street and it looked like a nice place. The owner, Tony, greeted us at the door, brought us waters and checked on us throughout our meal. He was so kind and our food was so delicious.

Opened in 1947, the place has closed and re-opened intermittently under different owners, and most recently underwent a historic renovation process that more-or-less returns it to its origins. What you'll find here is a tiki bar that feels less like a time warp into another dimension, but rather, one that returns you to a time when tiki bars were full of things that evoke both Hawaii and the rest of Polynesia. This environment pretty much demands a rum-based cocktail and several patrons (including the band) appeared to have gotten well into the spirits. From a seat at the bar I enjoyed not just the music of the 3-person band, a good view of the surroundings, and a Nui Nui (cocktail, $19) but also a shared Spam Musubi ($7.95, excellent) and extravagantly lengthy Lumpia ($19.95). The Musubi, as indicated, was delicious and though I hadn't the appetite, I watched another bar patron sharing a fabulous looking order of poke nachos. So the drinks aren't the only reason to come here. Probably for good cause, the Royal Hawaiian isn't a late-night place. On Friday and Saturday they close at 10pm and on other days at 9pm. With a lively atmosphere, great cocktails, and some really interesting food options, the reborn Royal Hawaiian is a fun and worthy spot to at which to spend an evening.

When you enter this place you feel like you're transported to a beautiful tourist trap in Hawaii and its awesome. Very clean and very well decorated along with a good drink list. I had ordered a variety of items from the Pina No Colada and Pain Reliever which are both mocktail twists on tiki cocktails. Both drinks were presented well and tasted good. For starters I had the Spam Musubi and Ahi Nachos. The musubis were delicious! The nachos were just ok, nothing out of the ordinary but a decent portion for what you pay. I already had in mind that I was going to order the Rib Eye for dinner. But along with that I wanted to try their Mochiko Chicken Bowl. It's fried chicken thighs with Furikake, rice and pineapple slaw. The Mochiko was just ok, mostly felt like breading and almost no meat and it felt like it lacked salt as it barely had any flavor besides the sauce on it. The Rib eye Steak was cooked to a very nice Medium Rare as I had asked for it. In my opinion it was better without the teriyaki sauce so it was a good thing that the sauce was served on the side. Lastly for dessert, I had ordered the S'mores Lava Cake for a birthday dessert, and here they do not do complimentary dessert I believe. Service could have been much better, everything felt very slow and forced with the entire staff. Silver wares were marked after things were cleared, no napkins were given until asked for. And host didn't notify the server about the birthday on the reservation it seems. But over all a beautiful place in Laguna beach and absolutely worth checking out.
