This is a very nice park and wildlife refuge. It is nestled in a residential area in the city of Sunrise and has 2 entrances: on 44th street and on 41st. Both entrances have bathroom facilities. The park has a paved walkway about 1 mile long, there are also wooded trails that you can take along the way, and there is a good size boardwalk built over the wetland section of the park. Lots of benches all around the park, in addition to some very comfortable pavilions equipped with benches and BBQ. All of the facilities are in top shape and the park is home to a very wide variety of wildlife. Great place to go for a walk or spend some time enjoying nature and having a picnic or use the playground with your kids.

Opened in 2015, the 11 acre Oak Hammock Park was made possible by the Broward County Land Stewardship Program which provides for the restoration of publicly owned lands and the creation of recreation parks. Park amenities include a nature themed playground area, an environmental boardwalk, nature trails, a walking/ jogging trail composed of recycled material, three picnic pavilions, 2 restrooms, and an outdoor classroom. A nice surprise was the wood carvings by chainsaw artist Scott McAllister along the boardwalk over the wetlands. He carved animals native to Florida. The park lies adjacent to a canal which adds a water feature that attracts wildlife like birds, turtles, and fish. The park contains 75% native species of plants and utilized recycled materials for construction of all buildings. I was surprised at how extensive and beautiful the nature trail and wetlands area was. When I visited many families were taking advantage of the walking area. I saw a lot of Monarch butterflies and cardinals and blue jays. I don't usually see the cardinals too often in South Florida so whenever I come across one it's a real treat. You wouldn't expect all of this nature off a major road in Sunrise. If you didn't know it was back here you could drive by and completely miss it. The walk is an easy stroll perfect for introducing children to nature. Everyone should take advantage of this wonderful park which offers a respite from the urban sprawl outside it's gates.

Great little park for walking. Also has a boardwalk over the wetland area, children's playground, picnic tables with gas grills you can reserve. Clean restrooms!

Even a little bit of wildlife to see

This is a great local park which is manned by the park services. Very clean and beautifully created. Bathrooms picnic tables of play park and some great trails to walk. I find it to be very Serene either walking by the water or near the plants and foliage. Also offers views of Wildlife.

This is a very cute and quaint neighborhood park. It has a trail you could walk on. However, no pets allowed. It has trash cans and recycling bins, which are lovely. Don't litter, kids! It's very clean and has a well maintained landscape. The canal is also very pretty to look at. There is also a playground for the children. There are benches and picnic tables on site. It's a great spot to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

Had a great time at this park. Nice walking trail, great scenery and extremely clean. The playground is very modern and fits in well with the natural environment. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained.

Great new park in Sunrise! The playground is a cute animal & woodsy theme with some unique equipment that you don't see at other parks. The playground flooring is a mix of wood chips & rubber mulch. There's a nice boardwalk that goes out over the wetland where you can look for various fish & birds that inhabit the area. The boardwalk then turns into a rubber mulch walking trail that takes you through a wooded area that has additional picnic tables & benches hidden under the shade of the trees. The main parking lot at the front entrance is small so if you don't mind a scenic walk on the trail to get to the playground, there is a back entrance off a side street just south of the Winn Dixie plaza on Pine Island.

I adore this hidden little park!! It has a woodsy aesthetic and it's perfect for hot afternoons because of all the shade.

So glad some friends told us about this place awhile back when we were talking about places to take the grandkids in the future. But even if you're just a kid at heart, You may want to visit here. Wear your bathing suit. It's easy to find. And there's ample free parking out front. Mid week when we stopped by it wasn't very busy. But if I had kids, I'd be here every weekend -- especially in our recent hot weather. First and foremost is the interactive water/splash pad. So many machines spraying water, buckets dumping, etc etc. The three kids there were squealing with joy and excitement. Such fun. There's also a story walk/trail for children with various stops plus a regular walking trail. A covered playground with equipment for kids. A Volleyball sand court; basketball court; grills; picnic areas... all with a large swath of green grass in the middle -- perfect for events/concerts. On the south end is the canal C-14 with a fishing pier. More "waters edge" as in the name. And also for adults, there's a covered area right near the water with all sorts of gym/exercise equipment. Don't know what more you could want except maybe a few more resting benches along the main trail for the older folks... Go check it out. Bring the kids.

Featured at the entrance are children's water fountains and refreshing jets of water! Fitness equipment, a short fishing pier, picnic grills and other amenities abound in this beautiful and well maintained park.
