Very cool sport complex park a half a quarter mile away from my home. I really like coming here to do my daily jog/ run. This park has a soccer field, some baseball diamonds and a coup basketball courts, so everyone can come and play. There's even a small playground for the little ones too. Almost every time I come here I see that there are people playing basketball and baseball.

There aren't any flamingos here. What this park does have is a lot of sports fields. The park got a lot of new and improved features in September of 2018. There are two baseball fields, one soccer field, one tennis court and three basketball courts. There is also restrooms, a playground, a splash park, and a meeting room. My favorite part of the park is the .77 mile walking path that winds around the perimeter of the park. Spaced in intervals along the path are outdoor exercise stations. I loved how you can get a full workout while moving through the stations. The landscaping was well maintained and if you should experience an emergency there was a call station by the the bathrooms. This is basically a neighborhood park. There isn't anything to attract people from outside the initial area. The people that were here were enjoying themselves exercising and playing baseball and basketball. There were a few kids playing on the playground too. For the people who live nearby this is a great place to gather. The park is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM.

This is a very nice park in Sunrise. They have a splash pad and a shaded area for the grownups to wait. The regular playground is also shaded. Beware of Saturdays because they do play I9 sports so the parking gets very crowded. There is also covered basketball courts. I highly recommend!

This is a medium size athletic park in the city of Sunrise with baseball diamonds, soccer fields and basketball courts. The basketball courts are in a facility with roof, but no walls (air-nasium). The park also has a pretty good size playground for kids. All of the grounds are kept very clean and really good shape. Several local leagues for kids sports use this park as a home base. The park is nicely tacked in the middle of a residential area and right next to an elementary school.

Beautiful park it paid off there waiting

It looked like just some basic playground equipment , a picnic tables, bench, and an open field. They call this kind of park passive but you never know what you will find unless you look so I decided to walk the field and was in for a surprise. In the very back of the park is a lake. Water attracts birds so I sat down and waited. It was only a few moments before a mama duck and her duckling swam by. The babies were so adorable,. Not long after a little heron flew down to say hello. The lake was very beautiful with interesting cypress knees at the waters edge. There is a ten acre field next to the park that is undeveloped. As I was leaving a family rode up on their bicycles to use the play area. A short distance away from this park is Volunteer Park with many more amenities including a wetlands walk. While I love that park I wouldn't discount this park at all. Parks are the one thing we can never have enough of. If you are into quiet beauty and serene nature that come out and enjoy this little known gem.

Went on a hike with my kids and discovered this hidden gem…read more Battle of Pine Island Ridge was a battle during the Second Seminole War fought on March 22, 1838, at the site of Pine Island Ridge in South Florida. U.S. troops under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Bankhead and Major William Lauderdale attacked a large Seminole village on top of Pine Island Ridge, an island in the Everglades at the time. The village was headed by Abiaka, who had recently become the principal chief of the Seminole Indians. As the U.S. troops approached the village, they were fired upon by Seminole warriors perched in the trees on Pine Island Ridge, who held off the U.S. troops long enough for Abiaka and the other villagers to escape. The attack ended in failure for the U.S. troops as they failed to kill or capture any of the Seminoles, who successfully evacuated their village without casualties. The battle was the closest the United States came to catching Abiaka during the Seminole After repulsing Zachary Taylor's army at the Battle of Lake Okeechobee, the Seminoles under the leadership of Chief Abiaka relocated south to Broward County. Abiaka and his people then built a large village on top of Pine Island Ridge, which is 29 feet above sea-level and the highest point in Broward County. A Seminole traitor named Billy Benefactor told the U.S. Military about the location of the village, and that it contained up to 100 warriors. General Thomas Jesup then ordered an operation to attack Pine Island Ridge. Jesup assigned the operation to Federal soldiers of the 3rd Artillery Regiment under James Bankhead, and volunteers of the Tennessee Militia under William Lauderdale.
