    The lake's view

You know you're a south Florida native when the sight of a hill excites you. I enjoyed my pit stop here, had a little picnic under the trees and enjoyed the lake view! There are benches facing the lake view but no picnic benches that I could find. If you want to avoid lots of people, come before or well after school gets out at 3PM--lots of carpoolers flood the lot.

What an interesting park, who knew there would be so much history here. Peace Mound Park is an eight-acre site once used for hunting and fishing by the Tequesta and Seminole Indians. When development of Weston began in 1985, an Indian mound was unearthed, dating to 3100 B.C. Archaeologists discovered 5,000-year-old tools, pottery shards that dated to 500 B.C. and other artifacts. While strolling within the park you will see; ancient trees, beautiful flowers, birds, ducks, and maybe the occasional alligator. It also has numerous benches for relaxing, sidewalks along the lake for walking, a play ground for children, and a gazebo for music playing, picnicking, or even wedding ceremonies. There are historical markers throughout the park depicting the history of the area. You will be able to view the ancient Native American burial mound that is said to be over 5,000 years old. This mound is a raised mound of earth that is located within the park.

I had been at a doctor appointment today in Weston. And because the weather was so beautiful, I decided to go for a walk in the park. When I searched for a park in Weston thru Yelp, I saw this one and noticed it was highly rated. So I decided to check it out. Not only is this park well-maintained and beautiful with foliage, grass, a bridge, a play park for kids, a lake and one of the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in a park!!! :) But little did I know that this park is also a historical landmark. In school I always hated history because I couldn't relate through a book. Historical landmarks gives you a bit of a visual reality which now makes history more interesting to me. This park holds the history of the Tequesta Indians. Along the walking path you'll see tiles that explain some of the history of the Tequesta Indians. A great park I highly recommend!

I came to this park because it is one of the few Tequesta sites left in South Florida. Most were bulldozed for development. The Tequesta were a Native American tribe who lived in South Florida from 3rd century BCE for roughly 2,000 years. They were wiped out shortly after the Spanish explorers came to Florida. Since they no longer exist not very much is known about them. You can see an important Tequesta archaeological site at the Miami Circle where you can also see a bronze statue of a warrior on the Brickell Bridge. Artifacts found at the Miami Circle can be viewed at the History Miami Museum. Another burial mound can be visited in Pompano Beach. This park is is the site of a Tequesta burial mound. The city of Weston has honored this history with a series of informational plaques in the path that wraps around the south end of the park. The plagues are very interesting and I actually learned some things that I didn't know. After the Tequesta left this site it was used by the Seminole's. Today there is a beautiful park here with a nice view from the top of the hill to the lake below. The park has a fishing dock, a playground for children, and plenty of benches and lawn space to enjoy a picnic. A paved running/ walking path winds around the park. The park is beautifully landscaped and filled with many flowering trees and plants. Ducks inhabit the pond and they are clearly used to being fed because they have no problem coming out of the lake to run right up to you to give you the sad eye. This beautiful park is another reason to love Weston.

Awesome clean park . Thanks for the restrooms! No sand in playground greatly appreciated !

I've jogged here several times, I am new to the area and the locals here tell me the park went under a big renovation. It is so beautiful and scenic as it sits on a small hill overlooking a lake. If you want a peaceful place to sit and relax, take the kids to play, or even do a brisk walk or jog this is the place. Some stats from the site: 8.16 acre neighborhood park Shaded Playground Exercise/ bike path Fishing dock 2 - small picnic shelters with tables Waterfront setting Site of Tequesta Trace burial mound. Archeological features have been built into the park design Lights and parking Dog Friendly park - dogs allowed on a max. 6' leash

This is a very peaceful park in the heart of Weston. The grounds are well kept with plenty of seating around and trash cans, which explains why it's so clean. You will see kids roller blading, families and couples strolling, people walking their dogs, and fitness buffs getting their cardio in. There is also a playground with a slide and swings for kids. The chairs in the park overlook neighboring houses and a lake, and there is also a boardwalk where you can look out into the water and relax on. If you are in the area and looking for a relaxing park for the entire family or just for yourself, I highly recommend.

There is history at this park :)

Beautiful park with quiet the views. They have two play areas for the little ones that are very clean and somewhat covered. Plenty of benches are spread out through the park along the sidewalks. The pond is full of birds and ducks. Only thing missing was restrooms.
