There are no shaded areas so plan to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. However, if you end up here right in the middle of the day, don't worry! Your kids will be excited to cool down at the adjacent water park- also free! In between the city and water park there is a nice mostly shaded playground. This was such a fun place to visit! There is a big mall within a 10 min drive so you can make this a day trip!

The trail is nicely shaded and has a paved walkway which makes it easy for parents pushing their child in a stroller or the casual jogger out on a nice morning. The trail has plenty of benches as well as beautiful views of the natural landscape and the water that separates the path from the golfers on the course. Along the way there are information boards to learn about the Preserve environment. There are emergency posts located along the 1.1 mile trail incase there is a problem if 911 needs to be called. I also noticed a cute painted rock collection that stretches over 30 yards in the shape of a snake. Next time I will will be bringing a rock to contribute. Overall, I thought this place was great on a nice day but it would be too hot during the summer to visit.

But if I had kids, I'd be here every weekend -- especially in our recent hot weather. First and foremost is the interactive water/splash pad. So many machines spraying water, buckets dumping, etc etc. The three kids there were squealing with joy and excitement. Such fun. There's also a story walk/trail for children with various stops plus a regular walking trail. A covered playground with equipment for kids. A Volleyball sand court; basketball court; grills; picnic areas... all with a large swath of green grass in the middle -- perfect for events/concerts. On the south end is the canal C-14 with a fishing pier. More "waters edge" as in the name. And also for adults, there's a covered area right near the water with all sorts of gym/exercise equipment. Don't know what more you could want except maybe a few more resting benches along the main trail for the older folks... Go check it out. Bring the kids.

After I arrived, I walked towards the equestrian area as I could hear something was happening there. I was delighted as there was a show/competition happening. I spent an hour or so meeting plenty of owners, riders and horses. I love horses and enjoyed my up and close experience with them. I never actually ended up walking the trails, but I will be back.
