Markham is a park that stands out from the rest. There are many great parks in south Florida that are good at so many things: canoeing, beauty, biking, picnics and more. Markham has these and so much more. When I first got to South Florida I came out this way for bike rides. Although it's very famous for its off road courses, biking the paved roads of the park is great as well. I've also used the range here, solid. But over the past couple years, we have come out here for the disc golf. It's a great course. Tough holes that feel very makable but still can humble most that play it. There are many other things to include a RC boats and RC planes areas, but whatever you mind come out West by, you are bound to enjoy Markham. read more

Such a beautiful, calm, peaceful, and family-friendly park. Lots of picnic tables and seating. Lots of trash cans everywhere, but bring your own trash bags!! As well as grills. Has multiple huge areas to play ball, have a party, run around, all that you can imagine. The women's bathroom did not have any toilet paper, I had to go to the men's to grab some. read more

What a great surprise to notice a Butterfly Garden in Markham Park next to the main entrance and is completely FREE. It was a must, to take our puppy on a walk through the garden where we observed plenty of colorful butterflies congregating amongst the trees and flowers. Lots of creative artsy type seating around the shaded dirt paths. There are placards positioned within the garden explaining the several variations of butterflies that can be seen. Great garden for curious adults, kids and of course puppies. read more

The list of activities in the park is incredible! If you are local, this would be a great hangout on the weekends. And if you are visiting the area, it's a nice place to picnic or get involved in one of the following activities. Activities we saw during our short visit included: biking, maintain biking, walking, running, archery, shooting at the range, grilling, picnicking, camping, frisbee golf, kite flying, dog walking, dog training, remote control planes, tennis playing, and more! A big attraction at the park is the dog park. A annual or daily pass is required for entry. The park is separated by fence into two areas for large and small dogs. There were things for the dogs to play in and lots of open room. A cement walking path and lots of shade made this park seem so welcoming. I sure wish our dog park back home had more to offer like this one. The camping area is large and the lots are good sized. The bathrooms appeared to be closed due to covid. If so, a trailer with a bathroom is a must! If you are looking for a place to relax or take part in an outside activity, this park is a great choice!! I remember coming to Markham park to go target shooting years ago and it was a lot of fun. Today I came to go walking and to check out what else they had to offer. Plenty of people having picnics today and many were bicycling. I feel sorry I gave away my two bikes because I didn't like them. This is the perfect park to go biking in my opinion. Markam Park is another park I spent so much time visiting during my daughters youth that I didn't want to hear the name after awhile. Later in life I returned to explore with my boyfriend who also loved hanging out in nature. (When I could get him away from the beach!) The trails are great and there's lots of fun activities like archery and a shooting range. I'm not going to list them all. Bottom line is Broward County is a great place for parks! This park is highly recommended. The park is noted for the campground. Since my daughter was in the Girl Scouts growing up they used the facilities. It's was close to my house at the time. I just drove out towards Alligator Alley! I personally enjoyed using the park for picnics and attending parties. I also attended corporate picnics at this park as it's able to accommodate large groups. I didn't use the campground. If you are a fan of the Everglades Atmosphere when you camp you may enjoy Markam Park. There's a lot going on in Markam Park so you definitely won't get bored. read more

A nice park in Weston that has a lot of activities to do. They have a shooting range, archeries, trails for walking, trails for mountain bikes that are extreme, trails for bikes that are easy and for just chilling, a dog park, an area to fly your drones, disc golf, a camp ground, or you can simply chill and do picnic. 9-23-22 11:30AM The greatest asset in Broward County is it's Parks. Note no entrance fee when you come weekdays. My department where I work planned an outing here at their Corporate pavilion. It is located after the entrance just go straight ahead it's on your left. Or you could be like me and you continue driving taking in this beautiful scenery and pass it. Plenty of parking and once inside had plenty of picnic tables to fit our group. We did pay to rent this space so we made sure when we left it was immaculate. It also has restrooms which was great so you had a place to wash your hands. There is fire pits to barbecue but we had food catered. Beautiful views here of the greenery and water. Our team brought fans because let's not kid ourselves it is hot out. I am very familiar with this park although it's been a long time since my last visit when my son was in scouting and we camped here. Great facilities and I always enjoyed coming here as it is close to home. Also they have a shooting range here. read more

It's so tough to write a review of Markham Park because I love the park but hate some of the people that frequent it and ruin the experience. The good: They have an airfield which is awesome for anyone flying RC planes. There's always an RC Plane expert in the crowd, helping all the newbies earn their wings and fix their crashed planes. The great: the dog park is awesome and well maintained! The bad: the signage for the dog park isn't great. It's not clear that you have to be a member to get in or what the daily fees are. Now onto the bikers. This park has some great trails, and some horrible bikers who do not respect any stop signs or traffic laws and swerve in front of cars. Today, I watched two bikers ride their bikes through the middle of a dog training session behind the main office (in a grass field, off the road completely. They would've had to go around the building to be on the road). These disrespectful people didn't even have an apology to say when the trainer asked them what they thought they were doing. I'm all for biking - but there is no enforcement of any park rules here much less rules of the road and they are a huge hazard at this park. read more

I have been coming to this park since the mid-70s, when I was in high school and it seemed like it was out in the middle of nowhere! I actually helped build a trail here when I was in school, and they even had a little zoo with two lions, named Mark and Ham; but the zoo is long gone. Now it is one of the biggest parks in Broward, and it is just a 5-10 minute drive from anywhere in West Broward County. There are so many things to do at Markham Park! There are miles of roads, bike trails, and sidewalks that wind all through the park and around the various waterways. There are many big open areas for playing ball and running around, and smaller shaded areas with picnic tables and pavilions that can be rented when it's not a pandemic. Most of the playgrounds are closed right now because of the pandemic, but I noticed that the tennis courts, racquetball courts, and pickle ball areas were all open and there were people playing on the day I went. They also have a huge area for disc golf with a complete course that is pretty well maintained. In addition to just riding around they have a specific area for trail bike riders. You need a pass to ride there; but there were dozens and dozens of bikers entering when I went by on a Friday afternoon. It seems pretty popular! One of the coolest and unique things they have in the park is the air field. On any given day there are quite a few people with radio controlled airplanes and even helicopters flying them around this area. There is a spectator viewing area there and they even have bathrooms and snack machines. It is a really cool place to go and watch the planes, some jets and helicopters zooming around. It gets especially busy on the weekends. On the west side of the park there is a large camping area. There are shady spaces with water and electrical hook up as well as an area for tent camping. They have bathroom and shower stations scattered through the campsites and they're always seem to be quite a few tents, campers and RVs enjoying the South Florida weather. Markham Park does back up to the Everglades so there are lots of waterways and marshy areas. It is South Florida so you never know what you are going to see and there are lots of warning signs posted to beware of alligators. Markham Park is also a great place to bring your furry friends. Dogs on leashes are welcome throughout the park, and I saw many on the day I was there. They also have a dog park set up just for our four-legged companions. It is appropriately named Barkham Park and here dogs can run around unleashed in the fenced in areas. (There are areas for big dogs and a separate area for small dogs.) Markham Park is free to enter on the weekdays, however there is a small charge on the weekends. Some of the buildings and areas are in need of a little painting, or landscaping, but the surroundings are beautiful and there is always something to do at Markham park. There is plenty of parking, so it's a great place to go by yourself and enjoy nature or bring the family and dog for a day of fun outdoors! read more

Markham Park is one of those places I take for granted because of how close to home it is, but it has so many activities that it is an amazing place for people of all ages. Needing an outdoor walk I choose to check out Markham and wandered along their nature walk, with an entrance right across from the dog park (Barkham at Markham). The nature walk consists of very easy terrain and a wide path, taking you past the butterfly garden. I saw plenty of nature (butterflies, bees, birds, lizards) along my path and continued along to the hidden wonder of the nature trail. The entrance to the Everglades Conservation-Levee Greenway. This was a wonderful delight with gorgeous views of the Everglades as well as a view of Markham from a different angle. I definitely recommend checking this out. Make sure to bring water and wear sunscreen because while the nature trail in the park has shaded areas, the main stretch and the levee get full sunlight. In addition to the dog park and nature trail, Markham boasts plenty of mountain bike paths (and provides mountain bike rentals), RV campsites, pavilions, restrooms, and a water sports area. This massive 665 acre park was opened in 1973 and named after Broward property appraiser C Robert Markham. There is a $1.50 weekend and holiday charge to enter but other than that it is free. This park may have the most things to do out of any of the county parks. There are 8 picnic pavilions of various sizes. On any weekend you will see them being utilized for corporate events, parties, or just by families enjoying a meal. Groups of over 250 people must get prior approval from the park to gather. Prices for rentals can be found on the parks reservation page. The campground has 88 electricity and water hook ups for campers. It is best to make reservations because they get very busy in season. The airfield has 50 acres and a newly renovated 75 foot runway. Different groups meet here and it's always fun to watch the flying planes that people put so much love and time into. Memorial Fitness Zone is one of those outdoor exercise machine spots I love so much. you can scan the QR code to read how to use each machine. The Fox observatory hosts an event every Saturday night which allows the public to take a look through their telescope. The boat launch allows you to put your personal watercraft into the 26 acre lake. The shooting range is in the back of the park. It allows for skeet and trap shooting. The rifle and pistol range has 66 shooting stations. There are 14 miles of mountain biking trails. Bring your own helmet. The Barkham Park dog park allows your pooch to get out and enjoy the fun too as long as you register your furry friend. This facility has an additional fee. If all that wasn't enough there are playgrounds, racquetball and tennis courts, and an 18 hole disc golf course too! Many species of wildlife make their home here including birds, raccoons, opossums, snakes, and possibly alligators. This scenic county park offers so many things to do. Markham Park is amazing! The park is an awesome place to unwind and relax. It has a great variety of spaces and activities available so that you can come back again and again and have a different experience every time. The entrance fee on the weekend is $1.50 per person, although when we went, it was a free entrance weekend (that's pretty awesome!) Once you enter the park if you head west after the ticket booth, you'll find the Barkham dog park where you have plenty of room to run around with your furry friend. The beginning of the nature trail is also on the west side of the park. The nature trail is basically a long winding gravel road that winds around the everglades. It's a beautiful view and you'll find lots of people who are riding bikes or walking the trail. It's very wide though and there's plenty of space for everyone. The the east you'll find sprawling fields and plenty of open space to throw the frisbee, bbq with the family or just hang out in the open air. There's a disc golf course with marked holes and good professional goals. Around the far east side of the park, basically in the back is the shooting range and archery range. They're both far enough away that the noise won't bother you if you're looking for a nice relaxing picnic but they're right there if you'd like to go shooting and enjoy a nice picnic afterwards. The vibe is very family friendly and relaxed, the park is clean and spacious and there's plenty of open space for activities and fun. Towards the end of the daylight you'll find that there is a mass exodus to leave and if you drive a manual vehicle this can be rough. There's a few hills that you have to climb to leave and it's not fun in the stop and go traffic. I would definitely go if you live in the area and haven't been! read more

We came for the disc golf and left in awe at the sheer amount of activities Markham has to offer Broward residents and visitors. However, this review is only for the 18 basket course at the westernmost section of the park. Helpful hint: if you're at the RC airfield, you missed the curve - go back towards the gun range and you'll start seeing basket 5 (bright green Prodigy basket) right next to the guard rails. Keep in that direction - don't turn left into the mountain biking trail parking area. You'll soon be passing baskets 6-12 on your right hand side, and you'll see a small parking lot for about 12 cars on your left. No facilities of any kind in this section, so go the bathroom and fill your water bottles before you arrive. Entry to the park itself was $1.50 a person - worth it, for how well maintained this park is. We passed dozens of parties in the shelters on our way towards the course, and it just looks incredibly family friendly. The disc golf course has absolutely zero signage here. We asked an attendant at the ticket window, and she said to turn right at the stop sign...and keep going. We made several wrong turns (as you can see in our helpful hints atop) but eventually found our way to the right starting point. The course had a map right next to our parking spot, in addition to a practice tee. The course is well thought out, circling all the way back to the parking area if you completed the full course. We opted to do baskets 1-12, as it was sprinkling lightly and started to rain harder as we played on, and 12 also ends near the parking area. The course doesn't offer too much in terms of variety - the whole course plays on the curve of the road and lake, so most baskets had similar difficulty levels. Added struggles on holes 2-5, as they tee off between the water and a large shrubby barrier from the road - I threw a favorite disc into the the beyond and it curved straight into the swamp. All signs say to not wade through the swamp, so instead, I fished for it with plentiful branches laying around. It worked, but I definitely played more cautiously after that. Also to note: there are benches and accurate signs at each tee pad! I'll give the designer props in taking advantage of the few natural obstacles that South Florida had to offer this part of the park - hole 5 was elevated (again, you can see this basket from the road), and hole 6 was an interesting challenge of trying to curve through a line of well planted palm trees. I truly appreciated the 2-3 tee pad options for recreational players, amateurs, and professionals, as well as the 2 basket options on most holes - par 3's all around, from what I noticed, though I read there were two baskets with a par 5. We didn't make it there. I consider myself an amateur and managed to toss a bogey (or triple bogey, if I'm being honest) on most baskets after nearly losing my disc. The shrubs really make for some interesting obstacles, because digging through them is not fun in shorts and a t-shirt. Gorgeous views around baskets 7/8 with that cool walkway, but all-in-all, the course was pretty simple and open. Wind made a huge difference on holes 1/7-12, as it was open enough to start carrying or cursing your driver. I'll be back again, but there are more interesting courses out here. The SO prefers Easterlin, and I'm inclined to agree though I really appreciate how well taken care of this course is. read more

There's so much to do; with bike trails, a dog park, fox observatory, camp ground, target shooting range, lakes for jet skiing, shelters and much more! The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every day. On weekends and holidays, there is an entrance fee of $1.50 per person, for everyone 6 yrs. and older. Weekend peak hours seem to be: Saturdays between 3 & 7 p.m. Since first being introduced to the park in 2002, I have come by myself, with family, and also attended birthday parties, church, and company events. The shelters can be reserved to accommodate groups and a couple are adjacent to a volleyball play area. Others are close to playground equipment. I was a very unfair with the review I previously wrote for Markham park. What happened really was not there fault, it was the city of Sunrise and the people handling the event. I have been going to Markham park since the 1970's. I've seen lots of changes since I was a young kid. This park has lots to offer. There is the fox observatory, play grounds for the kids, a dog park, the gun range, the mountain bike trails, rc air field and rc boat races, a jet ski lake, a pool, basket ball and tennis courts, and a Frisbee golf course. Now add on the camp grounds, a couple of boat ramps right on the edge of the everglades. You never know what you're going to see their. I've seen plenty of wild life there too. Other alligators and snakes, I have seem opossum. Raccoons, armadillos, goufer tortoise, exotic birds and a pair of Bobcats. This really is a great park for all your family activities read more

Awesome Park! They even have a dog park called Barkham at Markham! There's many fields to throw around a frisbee or football. There's paved trails and even a nature walk that if you take the right way will lead up to the Everglades where you can walk on an elevated rock trail. There's designated areas for RV set ups and even designated areas for "primitive camping." Apparently the area we walked by has wild alligators in the water so be careful of those! We didn't get to see any though. There were a lot of bikers out there too, but I didn't really see any like bike trails. But the park is also super big so I might've missed that. There's a lot of pavilions out there good for parties. What was cool was we saw a broward sheriff's deputy house on site. Really nice quiet park. read more

Markham offers a little bit of everything (gun range, dog park, shelters, bike trails, open spaces ,rc craft areas, and more) . I go there frequently for the mountain biking trails that range from novice to expert. I personally think the trails at Markham are arguably the best in south florida.. with only the ones at Oleta state park as a rival. What Markham has over Oleta is that it is much more technical .. so if you want to work on climbs, downhills, tackling rock gardens, or highly rooted areas.. its the place to go! I'n my recent visits I've also found that they have made adjustment to the trails to help them flow into one another much more smoothly. they have also begun to replace the ramps , signs, etc. its Def a must visit for the south Florida MTBr. read more

6/11/16 - Met with a running group 6:00 a.m. - Met up with the Broward Runners at this beautiful park. At this time, there is no one in the park but the park security who told us to park by the grass. There were at least 50 "real" runners meeting for a long run. Long runs of 4, 8, 10 or more miles. We did a group stretch and started the group run. This park has beautiful views, everything is immaculate, not a leaf on the floor. We ran through the target range, the bike paths entrance and Barkham (huge doggie park). This is definitely a place I would love to come back to and actually spend the day. We come here for the mountain bike trails! Lots of trails available from easy to difficult. We are a family with a 10 year old and everyone is very nice and when on the trails we pull to the side and they just go around if we're not as fast as them. You have to pay an annual membership price to go in, but it's not much, worth it completely! The other riders at the park cheered my son on to take this drop and helped encouraged him to get him multiple times when he's fallen. He's gained a lot of confidence here and love to come here together as an outdoor activity. They even have kid races (and adult races) lots of fun! You can come volunteer once a month to help upkeep the trails too! read more

I visited Markham Park a couple of weeks ago for precautionary COVID testing. I have to say that the whole process was organized extremely well, and was not stressful at all. This was my first time being tested and it was comforting being able to wait in my own car. The area they have chosen provides a great deal of shade so you are not overheating during the wait, and neither is your vehicle. The whole process took about 2 hours from start to finish, because I was only available during the busiest time of the day. They do have port-a-potties on both sides of the line in case you need to use them. From the outside they appeared to be well maintained, however, I did not use them and cannot comment on the cleanliness of the inside. It was comforting that they were available though, since the line did take some time, and many families waiting to be tested had children in the car. The people taking your information were extremely professional and kind, as were the staff performing the test. I received my results within 1.5 days and was very surprised by the quick turn around. They sent a text that contained a link, and provided you with the test results after you logged in. Grateful this service was available and free of cost. So if you are in need of a test, don't hesitate to come here and utilize their services! It is a free testing center and can provide results quickly. read more

By far the best trails in South Florida. These are " my home trails". I live close by and have been riding here since before the trails official opened. The trails have changed a lot since then and with dedication of an exceptional group of volunteers, They have maintained and created new trails so that now, in my opinion,these are the premier MTB trails in South Fl. I have and do ride the other trails and am not taking away anything from them. I do favor some others for different styles of riding but when I want to truly and thoroughly test and abuse myself I come home. Just to hit some of the high points of this park. The MTB trails in my opinion are the best in South Florida. Some may consider them a little too technical but there are bypasses for most of those sections that may be more than one wants to attempt. The trails are well maintained and marked. I believe there is 7 to 8 miles of trails ranging from green (novice) blue (intermediate) and black diamond (advanced/expert). Enough to challenge all, from beginner to the seasoned veterans. So you think your good enough? You up to the task. Well grab your bike and helmet (not only a good idea but required). Load a cooler for a post ride toast and come test yourself. Cheers. read more

I've been coming here for years and just trying to fill out a few yelp reviews that are note worthy. I've been here a minimum of 300 times over the years, and can't remember having a bad time here. They offer the occasional events such as astronomy night, or R/C airplane fests such as the massive garage-sale type to the night-fly in, and Jamaican fests. They offer anything from watersports, to shooting ranges, to a dog park. They all sound like conflicting interests but they've been pulling it off flawlessly for years. Weekends are their busiest ($1.50 fee/pp just like all county parks). Bring some food for a picnic, dog for a park, plane to fly, gun to shoot, kite to fly, shoes to hike, bike to ride a trail with, pole to fish with. You can't have a bad time here unless you just show up barefoot and stand in an ant pile. read more

The better part of the population of Broward county had to have been here last Sunday but it was still awesome and I can see why my friend chose to have her dirty 30 birthday party here! There were so many people doing different things here from parties, sports, photography, to car shows - it was the happening place to be. It was such a beautiful day. My only complaint was the signage on the pavilions. It too way to long in my opinion to figure out which/where pavilion 6 was. After we finally found the pavilion everything else was great. This is a really nice park. It's very large and there are so many things to do here that I don't think I even know of them all. I've been coming here since a kid when my dad used to go to be gun range. They have mountain bike trails which I've heard are pretty fun and technical. They have a nice dog park. They have a lot of open space for picnics, sports of all kinds, or whatever you want to do. There's access to the levee in case you want to walk or ride out there or even fish. There are plenty of pavilions and bathrooms. They also have a section for campers in case you want to stay at the park. I would definitely recommend checking out their site or calling them to find out everything that is available but this is one of the best parks in Broward county in my opinion. They even recently had a 5k and half marathon that starts and ends in the park and they plan on having every March. read more

Markham Park is one of the best County Parks in Broward County, a county with so many great parks! Markham has almost everything you could want in a park. It has several playgrounds, a pool, mountain bike trails, nature trails, huge open fields, an immense sidewalk system, a remote control car track, an aviation field for remote control planes, a dog park (Barkham) complete with large and small dog areas, many many campground spots for rent, as well as access to the levees for a view of the Everglades.
