This is a cute little playground with a big open field to play and run on and one available shelter to rent. I like that it doesn't have a bunch of shelters so if you get the chance to book it for an event, it'll only be your event taking place. My kids really enjoyed the different slides and rock climbing wall. They especially loved the huge tree that they could climb. The reason for the four star is I mean, come on, it's Florida. At this point every playground should be covered. Thankfully it's been nice and cool this week but on a hot Florida summer day kids could easily burn themselves just trying to enjoy the playground. Time to cover it up!

Fig Tree Park is a neighborhood park in Plantation. There's a parking lot, bathroom, large field, water views, playground, and basketball court. There's a pavilion but in order for you to use it, you have to rent it by calling the City. The original playground was damaged by Hurricane Wilma in 2005 but they have since restored it. There's a huge tree by the water that provided ample shading. We decided to lay out our straw mats and just had a picnic lounging and just hanging out. The breeze was perfect under the tree. We were also playing football on the field. The land was smooth enough for a mini football game. When we were there, there were a group of people hanging out under the pavilion, but the park ranger kicked them out maybe because they didn't rent it. The park was clean and it was well maintained; although the grass was kind of long the day we went due to heavy rains. Overall, a great low key park to embrace nature.

Plantation Heritage Park is a blessing in my neighborhood. Whenever I have a lot on my mind, I can…read morejust come here and walk, jog, or work out to clear my head. Monday through Friday, unless it's a holiday the entrance is free and on the weekends the park charges $2-3 per vehicle for entrance. You can find plenty of parking spaces in different areas of park each marked by a different pavilions. There is a lake in the middle of the park with fountain and it's always worth few minutes of your time to stand and admire it. Breathe in all the problems in your life and let it out with positivity. Like myself today, just take a minute to tell yourself that everything will be okay and this too, will pass and sooner rather than later, it will all be for the better. There are baby owls, ducks, iguanas, and other wild life to be found at this park. Please keep them safe and keep your dogs safe away from them too! If you ever visit this park, please let me know what you thought of it!

I got there as they opened, 8am on the weekends. The course starts on the far end of the park so you get to take in the park on the way there. Ducks and geese love this place. They are all over the place. The lake that takes up the middle of the park is postcard perfect. You can't really blame the birds for liking it. When we play the course it gives you a chance to see alot of the park. The course covers almost everything east to west. One of the really neat things is the burrowing owl really likes this park. They are located at at least 4 spots I have been by. They are unique not just for nesting underground, but that they have alot of attitude. There is one couple of birds that are the 16th tee box who hiss at you while you play. Including the bird encounters, Its a great park, whether disc golfing, or bird spotting.

Plenty of parking and heavy foliage hiking trails with blacktop walking areas too. The security alerts are posted everywhere, "Park Under Video Surveillance", "Lock Your Vehicles", "Park At Own Risk", which actually brings a heighten safety concern for me as I sip my coffee in a secluded area. No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.
