I'm conflicted. I was in town for a biotech healthcare conference in South Beach and on the last night of the weeklong event my CEO and a colleague selected this place for dinner. We shared a lovely wagu steak, cooked very well with a Cesar salad and mashed potatoes. The steak was tender and had all the aspects one would want to see in such a steak, but the "spectacle" was along the lines of a cheesy Disney cruise event or a second tier Brazilian steak joint with guys walking around in gaucho pants and meat on sticks....you get the drift... They bring over an odd ceramic container pour dry ice into it and fill the table with cold billows of icy fumes as the young lady serving us cut up our shared steak. Then they just plop the cutting board on the table, sprinkle some obligatory salt on the steak, then drop a small bowl of decent mash potatoes on the table and walk away. That's it. We asked for Turkish tea, and also that we be fed - the first three bites - by the waitress - and it was kind of cringeworthy. We also ended the meal with a nice piece of baklava which they served with some sort of cheese that was like a cross between cream cheese and ice cream - folded inside the baklava. Pretty nice. Don't get me wrong - the food was good, the pyrotechnics cringy and the prices quite ridiculous IMHO for what this place is. Glad it was a business dinner and I realize this is supporting an affluent business dinner crowd and perhaps some locals - but it was cheesy and I think it detracted from what was a well prepared basic wagu steak and mash potato dinner that any number of places could also pull off - perhaps with more finesse? Looks like the lunch menu during the week is a good deal. If I wanted to spend under $40 for a three course lunch I'd come back. Perhaps worth checking out if in the hood ? Not sure I would have chosen this place in the first place and not sure I'd come back. In a word,....tacky. I came specifically for the lunch special on Valentine's Day. Due to traffic, I called ahead to let them know I was running late and asked if I could still order it. I was told over the phone that it would be okay. Based on that confirmation, I came to the restaurant. However, when I arrived, I was told that the time had ended and I could not order the lunch special. This was very disappointing, especially after receiving confirmation on the phone. This time, I went for the "GOLD" New York strip, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and also gave the beef tartare a shot (which I skipped last time). The Gold New York strip? Absolutely phenomenal--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. At $600, though, it's probably a one-time experience for me, but no regrets--it was worth the try! We also had the truffle croquettes, which were delicious, and while the beef tartare wasn't quite my thing, the beef carpaccio is something I'd order again and again.
