From the moment you walk in, Slim in Bal Harbour gives off an elegant, old-school Miami steakhouse ambiance. The old framed photos on the walls add so much character and nostalgic charm to the space. The bread was incredible -- warm, fresh, and definitely the kind you keep reaching for. The pigs in a blanket were delicious, and the filet mignon paired with the steak sauce was absolutely outstanding. The tableside banana foster was not only entertaining to watch, but tasted amazing too. And the pineapple cake? I could have eaten the whole thing myself. The service was excellent as well -- the staff was friendly, attentive, and made the entire dining experience memorable. Great for date night or after shopping dinner.

We were staying at a nearby Airbnb and decided last minute to try this restaurant. We came with our…read morebaby, who was understandably very hungry, so I began giving her some crackers I had with me. Shortly after, the manager or owner approached us and said I could not feed her those crackers because they were not kosher. I asked if there was something suitable we could order for her, but options were limited, so we ordered fries, which thankfully came out quickly. We initially wanted to order a smaller steak along with several appetizers, as we enjoy trying a variety of dishes. However, after a lot of back and forth, the server strongly pushed us toward their recommendation instead. We eventually went with it, but the food was mediocre and the sides were very basic. We felt pressured into ordering something we didn't really want. Later, the steak arrived medium rare instead of the medium well we requested, which meant we couldn't give much of it to our baby. Wanting to be respectful, I asked the manager if I could feed her a Serenity-branded baby food pouch. After examining it for a while, he said no -- again because it was not kosher -- with no explanation or alternative offered. Overall, the experience felt rigid and unwelcoming, especially for a family with a baby. The food did not justify the price, and we left feeling that we overpaid for a disappointing and uncomfortable experience.

Tip: pastas are small. Almost half portions. We ordered a few and split them family style (ordered 3 for 6 people and had to order more). Beef Wellington - - while I thought it was weird to order, SO glad we did. It was so tender and cooked perfect. They also cut it for you so you don't need to worry about it! Ambiance is amazing but you NEED reservations. Also need to make sure you are either on time or if you are at the bar next door, you check in if you are running behind.

The menu consists of well known dishes but there are no surprises - everything is cooked well and tasty but not memorable. The best dish is the Ceasar's salad which is prepared table side, using raw eggs (!) and is a must-order simply for the show. Everything seemed to order it. The crab cakes were very good - crispy crust and big chunks of crab with a spicy mayo on the side - worth it. Lumache Alla Vodka was also good, with the pasta cooked just right and a nice spicy kick to the sauce. The almonds on the European Sea Bass made the fish - toasted and slightly caramelized paired with a very good sea bass. Get it if you are in the mood. The oysters Rockefeller are simply ok but not worth reordering. The chocolate layer cake was also very good but not extraordinary and typically of any good pastry shop's version. Finally the service is what you would expect of a Michelin Star, which was precise and well executed although our waiter has a pretty bland personality compared to the guy serving the table next to us.

It was pretty good. The star of the show was the warm bread that you get before the meal with the orange Butter that goes on it. It was extremely good. They brought some bread to the table and oh my goodness! It was so fluffy and buttery! We ordered and shared the Cesar salad, lobster bisque, and the Wagyu ribeye with all of their sauces. My husband loves sauces and eating a different flavor each bite. The lobster bisque did not disappoint. It was so good my husband "licked the bowl clean" with the bread. It really was clean! The steak, my husband only had Wagyu as a small appetizer a few times and this was his first steak experience. He lit up like a Christmas tree when he took his first bite. Our server Geo was amazing. He had great recommendations for the wine pairing and was able to keep up with my husband's jokes. Lastly, the chocolate cake was so good, but rich. I was so full so I could only have a few bites. Hubby had to finish the rest. We have plans to come back in the future.

There was warm pita bread and bread rolls. The waiters worked hard to make sure that we had everything we requested. After the huge salad course we had two types of fish: Gefilte, and salmon over tasty orzo. Then we had matzoh ball soup served piping hot (just the way I like it). For the entrée I had requested prime rib. It was a huge portion cooked to perfection exactly the way I requested with a very delicious savory sauce, creamy mashed potatoes and tasty green beans. I also tasted the chicken, which was really moist and delicious. My sister-in-law's vegetarian and had requested a vegetarian dish. They brought her a huge platter with beautifully grilled cauliflower steak and other tasty bites. We then had dessert which was a warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh tropical fruit salad. We also got to meet the Chef, Jake. We talked about the theme of the restaurant (Kosher Steakhouse) and his various concepts and projects. There is a variety of different steaks. He puts a lot of care into all the sauces and flavors. He works very hard and you can tell. Last night was a wonderful experience and I look forward to coming back and trying more of their delicious dishes
