I ordered a GF cake for my girlfriend's birthday party. It was AMAZING. Just AMAZING. We did the vanilla white cake with burnt sugar icing/ filling. Phebe is very talented at making gluten-free delicious! I've had her cakes, cookies, brownies, and crackers and she knows what she is doing. My biggest complaint about gluten-free products is that their gritty, grainy, or not made with high quality ingredients. That's not the case with Dolce Lou's products. A friend had tried their vanilla cake at a wedding and recommended it for my birthday. I was stoked to have a cake that my friends would enjoy, too. The frosting was fantastic. Unfortunately, I thought the cake tasted like cornbread with a hint of paste. My friends joked for a week about it tasting like dry wall. I continue to love Nuflours I many avenues- at the farmers market, at their bakery on Capitol Hill, and through products sold at coffee shops around town. Their GF items can lure even my gluten-loving friends and family! I love the muffins especially the pumpkin pecan and banana coconut but wish they were about half as sweet (more like cupcakes now than muffins). The vegan pumpkin pie I special ordered for thanksgiving last year was spectacular and so easy - they were even open the morning of the holiday! I really love this business. read more

My coworker handed me a business card for Nuflours she had picked up while picking up said pizza and told me to check it out. I am forever in her debt. Right off the bat, I had excellent customer service. The woman behind the counter was very nice and had a lot of information about what they offer. The food? Seriously. SO good! Tasty gf food that the gluten eating folk would be hard pressed to complain about. We had the quiches and the millionaire bar. The crust of the quiche was excellent. I initially thought the thick shortbread layer of the millionaire bar ambitious but first bite it proved a tasty and perfect companion the caramel and chocolate. A coffee station would be helpful because I felt bad having to bother the one staff person for cream, but I think we can in just as they opened so we could them off guard a little. read more

I wanted to like this place, but it's very expensive and the quality is inconsistent. I've tried their baked goods on three separate occasions and every time it's been a mixed experience. I bought some mini quiches and pumpkin bread to take to the office. The crust on the quiches was very dry and tasteless. The pumpkin bread was tasty but very oily and it cost $16! I went back another time and had a brownie, which had a gross fishy flavor. Third time, I tried their focaccia which was lovely and a muffin which was pretty dry. GF baking has come a long way and there are plenty of alternative flours out there. I hate baking, but I've managed to make great GF muffins several times. The ingredients didn't cost a fortune, so I know it's possible to make reasonably priced AND delicious GF baked goods. Skip this place and go pick up some Bob's redmill GF brownie mix! read more

I don't usually like frosting because I find most too sweet but I didn't leave a trace; cake texture was a little heavy/dense but moist. Couldn't tell they were gluten-free. i would walk 10 miles up hill just to get to this place. i am so used to having only one or two options because of my celiacs but i could eat ANYTHING i wanted at this bakery. I got the pumpkin maple donut and lemon vanilla cake donut which were both fantastic. pumpkin was best because it was super moist. I also got apple strudel which was pretty good, although not as good as the donuts. the girl working was really nice and even told me about their thanksgiving food they make in the fall. this place does custom cakes, pies and more. Wasn't able to hit the farmer's market to try their stuff beforehand and so was a little nervous. Ordered a gluten-free vegan chocolate-almond cake with chocolate frosting - AND IT WAS AWESOME. Crazy moist and with a good crumb - the frosting was divine (looked beautiful too). I've eaten a lot of GF V cakes and they've been nothing like this.
