This is a super cute cafe in Montlake with bagels and other baked goods. Their lemon poppy scone was great and they also have gluten free options which looked good. The coffee, however, just tasted like milk, and the hot chocolate was not sweet. However, some people like the more bittersweet chocolate flavor, so this might be for you if that's the case!

I went to this coffee shop with my husband and family and the shop itself is super cute and cozy with a lot of indoor seating. Allegedly this place is known for their pastry items which I did not try but they looked beautiful (see photos). What my husband and I did try however was a mocha and hot chocolate. Not good unfortunately. No whipcream either. The mocha just tasted like whole milk with no chocolate flavor at all and the hot chocolate was dark and had no flavor. I think you should order pastries and not chocolate drinks at this place. But for coffee I'd rather go to Starbucks than this because it was 7 dollars for each of our drinks which is crazy for the quality.

Generally I don't even like sandwiches. Oxbow's veggie sandwich was AMAZING- so flavorful and fresh. And sizable. At $14, it is a good deal for Seattle.

Salmon bagel, dry and hard to eat

My experience at Oxbow was a bit rough. I had their salmon bagel sandwich, which is my go-to benchmark order. Their core product--the bagel--was dramatically overbaked and thin. This made it into more of a cracker than a bagel. Additionally, they opt to use an awkwardly shaped lump of smoked salmon in the middle of the bagel vs. lox, contributing to an overall dryness and awkward eating experience. For a place that highlights their house-made bagels (you can watch the process through the window) , and even teaches classes on the topic, this product was surprisingly poor. It's not all bad, service was good and they appear to be locally popular and used as a gathering space. That said, I won't be back.

Cool and spacious spot to hang out and to get a coffee. The high ceilings give it a cool, expansive feeling. However, the food and service were just okay. I was disappointed in the food. We got a bagel, cheese knot, and pizza. All mediocre; all were kind of hard and dry. The pizza was a bit too crunchy and salty. Service wasn't the friendliest or the most welcoming, either. So I would just say, "meh", if I were asked about this place.

Pretty solid bagel spot. It was lively on a Sunday morning but the space inside is fairly large, so there's a good amount of seating. They offer sandwiches and other baked goods, but I went with a sesame bagel and plain cream cheese. It was pretty standard overall, but if you prefer bagels that are dense and chewy, you'll really enjoy this. I had mine toasted and loved the extra crispiness on the outside. Service was efficient and the overall experience was great.

We came here on MLK day around noon and it was packed! Don't be intimidated if there's a long line, it moves quickly! You order at the counter, find a table, and they call out your name with your food if they haven't already handed it to you when you order. We liked that this cafe has pastries, pizza by the slice (freshly baked after 12pm) and bagels, and they were all good! We especially loved how the pizza was crispy on the bottom even with it being a super thin crust. We were all happy with our food and agreed we would come back and try more things next time. Also, prices were very reasonable and gotta love easy free neighborhood street parking too. I'd recommend Oxbow for a casual breakfast, lunch or snack spot!

Hubby and I stopped at Oxbow around 2:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon. I've heard about this place and wanted to stop by to see what it was all about. It looked like the display case was picked over. We did manage to enjoy our sampling of pepperoni pizza with crisp crust, cheese knot, almond & date biscotti and an 8 oz. mocha. I liked that they had a variety of pizza slices available. Both the pizza and cheese knot were warmed up for us. Oxbow had a welcoming vibe, service was friendly and prompt, and we found parking out front. Hubby and I are enjoying trying new spots in new/different (than our) neighborhoods. We plan to stop by again, hopefully earlier in the day, so we can see the rest of what Oxbow offers.

I love this place! The environment is great. Very open and welcoming. I like how they have the bakery on one end and the beverages on the other. Eventually, I'd love to try their wine selection, but on a Sunday at 11 I decided to opt for the latte :P my bagel and my partners bagel were so delicious. Do I wish it was bigger? Yes, but I also walked away being full and satisfied! Can't beat that.

I feel like you gotta fight tooth and nail to get a good bagel in Seattle, and this spot is worth it. Very often a line out the door, but you'll never miss with a breakfast bagel here. Lox cream cheese + pickled onions is just how you win. There's a decent amount of seating even with the line out the door. Great bagel haunt

This place rocks! Pizza, pastries, coffee, a great dining area and space to hang out. Everything I want in a spot like this. They bake pizzas all day long so they're always in stock and fresh :D When ordering there is always some pizza prep to watch which is really fun. They usually have 1-2 pizza specials. On this day it was succotash and eggplant parm and both were fantastic :)

I have heard so many good things about this bakery so I was quite excited to eat here for the first time. I was disappointed in the service and the food and will likely not return any time soon. Since it was my first time there I wanted to look at all of the options. I stepped aside to let other customers go ahead. When I was ready to order she scoffed at me and said, 'oh you finally made a decision and this is all you're getting?' This left a bad taste in my mouth. I found this quite rude. It seemed quite judgmental, as if I hadn't ordered enough to her liking. The pizza was less than mid - it looked better than it tasted. Quite a thin crust. Very crunchy - burnt? - not a ton of flavor. I probably wouldn't order it again. The cheese knot was also mediocre. The 'everything bagel' had almost no seeds on it - it might as well have been plain. It was quite dry, barely toasted and I couldn't taste or see any of the smoked salmon that was supposedly mixed into the cream cheese. I'd rather get bagels from Hey Bagel, Dingfelder's or gosh, even Eltana would be preferred. I did appreciate the affordable prices and open seating with lots of light. Perhaps a nice place to sit for coffee with a couple of friends.

I only got an everything bagel with plain cream cheese and a matcha latte. The bagel was a bit tough and not my favorite. The matcha latte was standard. I appreciate the plenty tables and the nice vibes. I saw some pretty interesting things on the menu and I will be back to try their pizza and other breads since my first visit was a basic/safe order

I went on a Saturday morning around 1030 and there was only a small line, which moved very quickly. This is not a cafe - you are here to buy bagels and the fixings. Okay, they also sell coffee and tea, muffins, and a yummy chocolate chip cookie. (Had to try one if I'm coming all the way from downtown!) Bagels were baked perfectly. Your business was so hot when it opened and it actually went downhill about 6 years ago and I am not sad to see you go. Josh - to respond to your comment. My note should have inspired some reflection with the business model but it didn't. Your level of greed was insane and that is not forgiven here. You started hot and decided to squeeze more than your share from this business and this is what happens. You messed around and found out. It's sad because I actually supported the business when it opened but quickly had to end my dealings due to the high level of greed. You did this to your own business by wanting more, more and more, so please don't play the victim here. I'm sorry that you're saddened by this but what you did to the community is far worse than what I said. Actually ripping people off with your product is not having humanity. The bagel itself was smaller than a typical bagel and had some kippers and cooked (not smoked) salmon in the center. The bagel was chewy but lacked any crispiness on the outside. Adequate amount of cream cheese. The salmon had barely detectable flavor, while most of the flavor came from the capers. Overall, I felt a bit like I had been scammed. The chocolate chip cookie was actually pretty good. Not great, but good enough. Note about the service: I walked up to the counter to order and asked if they would bring it out--the person i ordered from said yes--so I tipped accordingly. I took a seat in the main seating area on the patio and poured myself a glass of water from the self service station. After around 20 minutes of waiting and looking inside to see if anyone was coming out i walked in and asked one of the people preparing bagels if someone was going to bring my order out and he looked confused, pointing to a row of bags on the counter, one of which was my order. Now, I tip generously for service, but more often than not i don't tip when I order and pick up my own food at a counter. Again, I felt a bit scammed. There are much better bagel options in Seattle, and certainly ones that don't ask $16 for such an unremarkable one that I had.

However, they do work very well for the sandwiches. The everything bagel is absolutely loaded with seasoning, and has an incredible saltiness (I'm a salty man, so this is a good thing). I feel as though this elevates the eggs to a new level. I was immediately drawn to a pastrami breakfast sandwich, because it's a top tier meat. This will feel more like you're eating thin roast beef because of the color, but it's still pretty good. I do think that this sandwich needs some acidity to balance out all of the fat, so grab some hot sauce at the counter. Overall this was a great sandwich, and I would get it again. That being said, I feel like the bagels are lacking due to a fault in a core ingredient. They all come with potatoes, and I think that they're either boiled or not quite roasted enough. Having to deal with undercooked potatoes dispersed throughout a mondo burrito is a battle that I'm unwilling to wage - but people seem to love 'em.
