I'd give this restaurant 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because you get a large amount of food for your money. They're going for healthy fast casual style counter service with an "ethic fusion" flair. Decent number of options including vegetarian, vegan, etc. It's not cheap but the servings are large: big enough for 2 meals for a lot of people. The food tends to be pretty heavy/oily, which contributes to how filling it is but also leaves you feeling weird after your meal. Flavor is otherwise pretty good. They also seem to run out of ingredients pretty often. Overall it's ok for a quick lunch but not my favorite. The shape of the restaurant is clearly intended for take out, but they do have some seating along the windows. read more

I have another veg/vegan place I go to in the area, but often times the flavors and textures blend together. Bloom uses a compostable box with separate sections for each dish. Food - I love the bento format and they have a TON of options. They had a bunch of vegetarian and vegan options as well as other dietary restrictions. All the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The portions were quite good too. I was very impressed by the flavor despite the gluten free element - cliche but not everywhere that does gluten free does it well. This place does! They also had a unique canned drink selection too. Service - they were very patient and explained everything. They also were speedy and made some solid recommendations. Ambiance - there's a few areas to sit down, but not too many. I think it's more a grab and go spot based on the fast food style set up and packaging (which is all compostable!). It's also only open for lunch on weekdays so that makes sense for the working crowd. I haven't heard of this place before until I saw it on one of the food apps and so I decided to give it a try. It's pretty close to where I work which is a bonus. I like that it's a bento box style where items are kept separately in the container so it doesn't get mixed. The items are fresh and clean and pretty good. I got the salmon with some grains and bok choy as well as an apple salad. Everything was pretty good. Prices are standard I think. The salmon did cost a little more than other protein but that makes sense. I did get a chance to talk to the lady for a bit to learn more about them and currently, their hours are limited to lunch time Monday through Friday but they are hoping to extend it in the future. read more

Yay for another healthy and quick option around the downtown hotel district! Got the sea box and land box, a few thoughts: Sea box: 4.5/5 - healthy, tasty, at the right price point. I think they're ramping up so the food is warm but not super fresh tasting, maybe just a touch dry. Sides (beets, zucchini noodles) are good. Land box: 3.5/5 - chicken way too dry, sides healthy but not great. Kale side was great, the potatoes surprisingly "too healthy tasting" :) I think a bit of added salt, oil, or just even moisture would help. I felt the price-quality ratio is a touch off right now, but hopefully they iterate in what's working and get even better! :) read more

First, the crispy chicken is dry and hard enough to Crack a tooth. This seems strange for a place that's only open for 4 hours a day. The turkey protein I added to my bento was also dry and obviously not fresh. To top of the food, half way through the bok choi, I find a worm in it. I was thoroughly grossed out. I asked for my money back and the person is to incompetent to do that. Now I have to contest the charge with the credit card company. I was so excited to eat here cause it's gluten free and my son has celiac disease. It was a great location and was so clean and comfortable. They had the bento box that you can build and pick what to put into it I really really liked how easy it was to figure out but they also were so friendly and helpful mostly the young lady working! I got the box with Tempeh veg and a great spruce sauce . My favorite was the beat salad so GOOD !!!!! The lentil cold side was also really good! Wow, I haven't felt this healthy after eating out in a long time! Despite my preference toward heavy culinary expeditions and the late night snacks, I don't mind this healthy feeling, and it's actual rather refreshing. However, Bloom can always use some, well, tips on improving its food. First off, the bento box is actually pretty big and filling, which was a welcomed surprise. The pictures don't do it justice at all, as I initially thought this would be a measly meal. When I got to the proteins, I decided to splurge a bit and order the miso salmon for an extra $3. And unfortunately, it was a incredibly small piece of salmon that was over cooked and pretty dry. Quite a regretful decision of mine after eating it and definitely not worth the upcharge. The sides were actually really great! I'm not a fan of kale, but the dressing on it made the side salad actually pretty tasty and enjoyable. On top of that, they had pickled blueberries. Yea, blueberries. Say what?? And my goodness, the pickled blueberries were really good, and I could honestly order a jar of them. Qualm #2 though: I ordered a side of potatoes and they were not seasoned very well. On top of that, there were still long stalks of rosemary (I think?), or some sort of stalk that was inedible, and I spent more time picking them out of my mouth that actually enjoying the side. Which is a shame, because I love them potatoes. Overall, great concept and honestly a nice breath of fresh air and healthy eating in Seattle. Definitely catered toward the gym bro, vegan, or health nut, which I applaud. If I'm looking to go on a diet (which I honestly need) or just looking for a place for healthy dining, then I know where to go. I love Bloom! I enjoy getting to choose your own meal. You pick a hot, cold, base and protein side. There are lots of choices like broccoli, sweet potato, cabbage, eggplant, lentils, rice, salmon, chicken, turkey and tofu. Stopped by Bloom a few mins before closing and opted for making my own box based on the ingredients that were available. I got the brown rice (was a little undercooked) wish I could try their dirty rice, followed by vegan curry meatballs (delicious), miso cauliflower (amazing), bloom potatoes, sour cherry beetroot and fresno pickles. Every item we had in our box was delicious (except for the undercooked brown rice). Wish I could try some meat dishes but my bad they ran out of it all. It is a tad bit on the expensive side $15 for a box and $18 for the seafood box. But this box is a perfect nutritional lunch box with good portions for one person. After reading Yelp reviews and staring at the online menu for an hour, my perfect bowl consisted of bloom grains, pakora fritters, Japanese sweet potatoes, potato salad, charred corn slaw, and pickled blueberries. I also got the Szechuan taro chips! I loved the charred corn slaw so much and I'm sad it's a seasonal option. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. They either picked the freshest kale or just slightly cook them, cause the texture is a little big softer. If I read it right, they put the tare saucer in it. A little bit sweet, a little bit salt yet complements very well with kale. You still taste the freshness from the kale. But you don't get any of that bitterness from kale. I was kinda blown away. As for the bok choy, they roast them slightly, and dip it in some sort of coriander sauce with sesames. Man oh man. Again, its definitely a nice experience. The big letdown of the box is the salmon. Its a bit dry but miso sauce taste was spot on. One last thing, the box is $16. Do i think it is worth it with the portion? Maybe. I would very much hope they improve their protein. What a hidden gem in Seattle! I got to find out about this place and try their bento via Yelp Elite event and it was delightful. There aren't any table seatings but benches inside and outside the restaurant where you can eat at. I loved the atmosphere and variety of choices for the sides & mains! The host was very friendly and explained how building bento boxes work and even let me sample the new seasonal pickles (blueberry pickles is a thing! And its absolutely delicious). Absolutely amazing. I noticed them building across the street, and got extremely excited that there was a new restaurant in the area. I went to their Instagram, and saw that they were a healthier option compared to what was already here, and was impressed by the photos and layout of their website/Instagram. Went to the pop-up they had the weekend before opening, and I was blown away! Every dish tasted so flavorful, and almost made me feel like this was too good to be what was opening the following weekend around the corner from my house. On opening day, I was nothing less than pleased when I noticed how accurate the meals looked to the photos online, and how what I tasted at the pop-up wasn't just for the event, but ACTUALLY what they served.
