A little over a year ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Alex from Nova Locksmith. I have needed locksmith services a number of times since then, and I have never gone to anyone else since. Alex is not only incredibly personable, he is EXTREMELY timely and incredibly competent. Apparently the apple does not fall far from the tree, as his father was also in the same trade and taught him a lot of what he knows. He came by this morning with really short notice, and was able to replace multiple locks throughout the unit after a stolen key situation. He wore a mask throughout and was very prepared, not to mention very empathetic and friendly. Alex saved us last night! Our just arriving airbnb guests called to say that the keypad was not working and they couldn't get in. We called Nova locksmith at 7:30 pm on a Friday night and he was here in 15minutes. He figured out that the keypad lock had broken, and he came up with a temporary fix. We checked online and found an identical model of our highly rated keypad lock was available only online, Alex said that he thought he might have an identical model in his storeroom. Otherwise we were going to have to wait until Monday for him to try and get one from the supplier. He called later that night to say he had one and would be by the next morning to install it. Consistent with numerous other five star reviews: Alex is extremely responsive, personable, professional, and easy to work with. He changed our locks including tightening a loose deadbolt in an 105 year old mechanism, free of charge. A few things for future customers: - Alex was very accommodating during his work here. Coincidentally, another contractor showed up during that short window, as well as a refinance officer. He even waited for me to finish with the refinance. - like another recent review, I recommend others clarify a detailed quote with Alex before starting the work. The Yelp app claims his services are $45-65, which is for one line item. I think his prices were worth the service provided, but good for others to know to make sure they don't get sticker shock. With our matching deadbolts including one new set, and 7 keys, and fixing the loose bolt gratis, it was a bit over $250. Many of the extra keys he gave us for free too. - for new knobs and bolts, you may want to ask to see the actual product. We chose an antique finish, were a bit surprised that it had a glossy finish. Alex explained to me afterwards that this is a high quality product, and why. After doing some research I'm entirely convinced. Hope this helps. Alex was super easy to work with. I had to reschedule twice and he accommodated my numerous requests. He showed up right on time, gave us a 30 minute heads up. I had attempted to perform a DIY replacement which didn't work. I noticed that Alex's lockset where adjustable and they worked flawlessly. He even ground down the striker plate so the lock worked "like butter". I have another door that I am correcting the fit and as soon as I complete this, I am going to call Alex. After I explained to him that we needed our unit Re-keyed he asked a few qualifying questions, I asked for an estimate, his response seemed reasonable, and he said he could be over in 35 minutes.
