my storefront at 1487 Pacific Ave AGAIN was targeted by burglars. 3rd time since the Covid shutdown. :-( The first time I was able replace a broken door panel myself because they left the lock alone. the 2nd time, about 2 years ago, they used a crowbar and screwdriver, but could NOT get in. I still had to call a Locksmith. (Dan Flynn, thanks for the referral). Their technician, Andy showed up early and and replaced the barrel and and made my 40 year old lock area stronger. I was good for another 2 years, and then last month, someone tried again. This Time, Metro's Technician, James, also showed up right on time, and he was able to do all the necessary work. This time, the burglars damaged my door frame, and James strengthened it with an extra Steel plate and replaced the damaged and useless bolt with a new stronger one. I don't think anyone will be tempted to try again after this repair! Thanks James and Metro. I called Metro Locksmiths when our front door deadbolt broke. They came same day and installed a new lock. I paid them $325 to do this. I notice after they leave that the lock lever, on the inside, does not go as far to the left when locked as it goes to the right when unlocked (see photo). The mechanism was also slowing down like it was bumping into something when turning it to the left and there was no indication that the lever had moved all the way it was supposed to move. I thought perhaps the hole was not in line with the lock, so I contacted Metro by email. They said to call them and they could come and do a "warranty check". I did this and when the technician found that the hinges on the door was not tightly screwed in, and that one hold was missing a screw. He quickly tightened the screws and added one. I thanked him for his help and he left... but I called him back because the lock lever was still seemingly not engaged properly (see photo). He was on the phone with his manager by then and they decided that they had to charge me for the screw and labor. He told me twice that they would not do a "service charge" then proceeded to take THREE TIMES AS LONG as it took for him to put in the screw, to write up an invoice (in triplicate) as well as put the charge through on his app. The total charge for putting in one screw was $95.38 (see photo). A $90 labor charge, when the most labor intensive part of the process for the tech was doing my invoice. Rude. Never calling them again. read more

My house keys were stolen while in mail transit from an emergency contact person--a situation I wish on no one. What I really what I really want to talk about is the customer service at this business. I had called this business because I wanted to make sure that they did the basic key copies. I ended up speaking to Sara and she was super nice and she really went above & beyond is the fact that she was giving me the information about if there's certain codes on the keys, then they can't make the copy of the keys or there needs to be an authorization etc...but during this time I was trying to drive, park, talk, get out of the car, jump back on my car for the street cleaner load my dad & his wheel chair into the car & finally drive away! My timing initiate the call was horrible and during this time she stayed on the phone with me the entire time even when I was outside of my car trying to load my dad in. Now, she could've just said call me back but she waited on the phone during all this & too look at the codes on my Dads keys and to me that is just going above and beyond. I went to Metro Locksmith to find hardware to replace an old lockset on our front door. Initially, the service received was very good. They were very helpful when it came to explaining what we needed and how to measure. We chose an an Emtek lockset. We could have ordered it from Amazon and had it in a few days for a few dollars less, but we ordered from them because they had been helpful and friendly, and because we wanted to support a local business. We told them that and they said they appreciated it. They said they would have it in 5-10 business days. Everything went downhill from there . . . . 13 business days later I called and asked about the status. No response. The next day I sent an email. No response. Several times over the next few weeks I called and emailed, increasingly annoyed. A few times I spoke with people other than the one (Ana) who took the order and who was receiving my emails, and each time I spoke to one of these other people, I was assured I would get a response from Ana. I never did. It was not until Ana happened to answer the phone one day that I got an update (but no apologies for the unanswered emails and phone calls and no explanation for why the lockset was late, and no indication of when it could be expected). At about the 30th business day (I lost count - it had been so many!!), I spoke with Ana who said it would be delivered to the store the next day and she would send me the UPS tracking number so I could know when to come get it. Ana never sent that UPS tracking number (though she did finally apologize). I went to the store two days later and she printed the tracking information and I was finally able to determine that the lockset would be delivered the next day - many more than the 5-10 business days after it was ordered. In the end I got what I ordered. However the appalling customer service was completely inexcusable. I will NEVER use this business again and I would not recommend that you buy anything from them unless it is in the store and they will hand it to you. read more

This business is a joke. I have been trying to buy knob for the last three months because EMTEK has them as an authorized place in SF and they have been playing with me. Since three months ago and they have been lying regarding my order saying: we ordered, my manager is not here and she can give you more details, when I called they are, I am not at the office but I will pass over this information to my manager, etc, etc, etc. they have tons of excuses and I haven't gotten my knob. Why this business and not other one? Well this is one of the retails authorized in San Francisco to buy this special order knob. Company charges $250 for a simple estimate for an intercom system. After a call & several emails later we learned this when they asked for credit card (the person btw I was communicating with went by two initials, not a name). While I don't believe they are a scam organization, our buildings have a policy of red flagging & not doing business with companies who charge for estimates. Horrible! Dishonest! Unprofessional! Rude! Do not do business with this horrible company. Back in September, I walked in their location on Divisadero street to ask about their services for a building that I manage. I spoke to an employee behind the counter named Matt who quoted me a price for a particular job. I then set up an appointment with him to send a locksmith to the building to do the job. As I was leaving Matt asked for a credit card number. I told him that I did not have the subject property's account number at the time so he said that I could give my personal account number and assured me that it would not be used for billing so I went ahead and provided him with my personal Visa account but emphasized that it's not the one to be used for billing. Matt, once again, assured me that it would not be used for billing. About a week later, I met and let in a Metro Locksmith employee at the subject property to do the job. When he finished I was shocked to see on the invoice that the actual price for the job was a lot higher than what Matt had originally quoted so he said to call the main location to have it corrected. I called and asked to speak to the owner but the person who answered the phone named Andrea insisted she could help me so I explained to her that my bill was a lot higher than Matt's original quote. Andrea instructed me to email her the invoice and assured me that my personal Visa account would not be billed. To my surprise, Andrea in fact billed my personal account contrary to what she and Matt had promised. After many weeks of trying to rectify the situation Andrea rudely replied that they had blacklisted me from their business. This was after overcharging on an original price quote by Matt and breaking their promise to not use my personal Visa account to pay for a job done in a building that I manage. So now I am stuck with a much overpriced bill of $374 on my personal account that they promised not to use for billing. Andrea and Matt have proven to be rude, unprofessional and dishonest.
