I have just sold my home and have moved to one where another company's proprietary system is in place so I am discontinuing my service. Once in 2008 I called NW Security's office at night from the airport, because an error message on the alarm control wouldn't set my alarm before I left home. The taxi was waiting and this was my first chance to call Northwest, from SFO. It was 10 pm & I only expected to leave voicemail. To my shock Steve answered the office phone, then went to my house to check out the situation and set the alarm for me so my house would be protected during my weekend trip. THAT"S SERVICE!!! I called Steve Friday around noon. He was in the neighborhood and was here by 2pm. I knew what I wanted becuase I had called 3 other places and wasn't getting the type of service or equipment I wanted. Within 45 minutes we had the entire security plan laid out including details on how the keypads and wireless contact devices were going to be installed and where. I had a very competitive quote on Monday morning. Steve actually did the install himself and did a perfect job. Didn't make a mark anywhere and I didn't need to bring in a drywall guy to repair anything from the installation. Really well done and if I get some time, I'll upload a photo of his handy work with all of the wires nice and tight and organized. really really well done. Tony installed systems in two houses for me about 8 years ago. Flawless work, and stunning-in-depth knowledge of how to customize the system for my unusual needs. Called him back years later and he moved sensors for a remodel I was doing. A year later I called to ask for some changes to the delay and sensor behavior, which were done remotely within seconds. They also come around every year or so to replace batteries, and test everything. And in those 8 years, no rate increases from NW Security! I just called today to ask some dumb questions and Steve went over my entire system with me on the phone. No rush, just plain simple explanation. Perfect! Northwest Security continues to give us excellent service! I haven't thought of updating this review, because my level of happiness hasn't changed. But, just in case anyone is wondering, Northwest is still great, in my opinion. Steve and the administrative person seem to know me when I call (only a couple times a year for things like updating the contact list). Needed some extra cameras added to a security system in my office. I asked the guys who did the original job to submit a bid to do it and their estimate was a bit breath-taking. I asked Northwest to bid for the same gig and they came in almost 50% cheaper, thus saving my office over a thousand dollars. Guess who got the gig? I felt like I had to ride on them a bit to make sure we were still on their calendar (had to wait for parts to come in, etc) but that might just be me being a control-freak. The install went very smoothly on the agreed-upon date and the cameras were integrated into the existing system just fine. Very pleased and will certainly go back to them again. read more

Just got off the phone with Northwest security adding a pet sitter to the account. Thought I'd take the opportunity to write a review. I inherited an old Northwest Security system on my home when I purchased it 14 years ago. Unfortunately I never used it until I had a break-in 11 years ago. So I called Northwest and had them update the system and I have been with them ever since. The service has been excellent, reliable and surprisingly personal! Communication with the company has always been excellent both in terms of dealing with false alarms and updating my account. I cannot even believe the professional service this company provides. Phone is answered quickly and courteously and not by a call center elsewhere in the world. Steve is TRULY AMAZING. He has come to my house numerous times during remodeling (previous ADT system) to make sure all of the the wires and hookups are performing properly and updated. All of this, during the course of 5 months and I have not even signed a contract for service or paid for anything. He is smart, definitely knows the security market, think he used to work for ADT. While I await beginning service, I still have to shout out to Steve, a stellar guy. This company is the BEST company out there! I had my first house alarm and I hired Northwest to do it after all these positive reviews here. Now I know why they are so highly rated! Everything went perfectly. The job was done flawlessly. Steve made sure everything work before he left. No false alarms as the job was done right. Oh, and he respects your house and treat it as if it is his own. He takes off his shoes and walks in with his socks. He carries a hand held rechargeable vacuum cleaner to make sure all wood chippings are picked up. It is these little details that will impress the heck out of you. Let me just say Steve's (the owner) #1 goal is not to make a profit. His #1 goal is to make customers happy and make sure your home is secured. He is an honest family man. I had a few occasions to call him with questions. I have yet to hear his voice mail. He always answer the phone and very responsive. He is very patient and answers all your questions completely. Even though I know nothing about alarms, he made everything very clear. The first visit was by Peter who came to do a walk through for estimate and explained what is needed to secure the house. He is very knowledgeable and explains what you need and why you need it. I can tell he wasn't trying to up sell anything. After two other estimates, I decided on Northwest. They setup an appointment for installation next week. Steve came and went over the plans with me again. He noticed 2 doors that was not on the list to have contacts installed. I told him that I decided it was not absolutely necessary since it was covered by a motion sensor on the other side of the room. And I wanted to save money. To my surprise, Steve said he'll add the contacts at NO extra charge just to be extra safe. What kind of business man is that? Keep in mind I am only securing 3 doors to begin with, and he is throwing in 2 extra doors! Just to be extra safe? He didn't need to do that. He did that because my family's safety is his #1 concern, not his pocket book. I can keep going on with all the nice things he did during that 6 hours installation, but I'll stop here. He has 25 years of experience and he is honest. When I asked him whether I should install a carbon monoxide monitor, he explained why it's not worth the money. He said he has one with him that he can install and sell me, but it's not worth my money. Every time you ask him a question, he'll give you an answer you'll understand! The best part is his $24 monitor a month monitoring service. No other companies even come close! I definitely know it works as my wife accidentally press the panic button (major user error) and the police quickly came. read more

We were victims of a "hot prowl burglary"; waking up at 5am on a Sunday to two men in hoodies unplugging an iPhone and MacBook from my husband's bedside table (while our menacing-looking black German Shepherd and 100 pound Russian Wolfhound slept next to us). Needless to say, it was terrifying and we quickly took action to secure our home, replacing all of the old and (some) broken locks with new double locks, and then calling Northwest security to come give us a quote. Peter came to give us a quote the following Wednesday and was very nice and professional, giving us all of the options available for our home. We were headed out of town the next week, so with a reasonable quote, I asked if there was any way they could install the system in the next two days. Sure enough, Steve re-arranged his plans, spending all day on Friday securing our home and enabling us to leave with the peace of mind that our home would be secure in our absence. These guys were wonderful. There rates are great and I liked the fact that they were local and understood the bay area and not just some sales rep from a nationwide company. He also installed everything three days after the initial visit. (Super Quick) As I am getting used to the alarm, that is accidentally setting it off, he was available to talk to me about how to tweak the alarm to my needs. We have been with Northwest Security for over 15 years. They seem to have the latest knowledge of security systems, as you would expect. And their service is phenomenal. Tony did the install with Steve's help many years ago. Steve is so responsive when there is any issue, which is usually just an old battery. It seems like someone always answers the phone in the office and is always very helpful. Peter has also helped out in updating the system after remodeling.
