When I built my house 8 years ago I had a local company install my home theater system and music throughout the house. I have forever had problems with the system, Control4, which needs constant stroking and servicing. Right before the pandemic the company who sold me the product and serviced it went out of business. I was in dire need of finding a company who could get me back on track, think messed up TV during the pandemic! Nobody was willing to come in and help since my system was a mess and it wasn't their mess. We had them install a home security system on our new house a few years back. At the beginning it was going off several times a day and took several months to get all the kinks out. We barely used the system, unless we all left the house for a long period of time. This last July 4th we left for a long weekend. The alarm went off around 8am and we didn't get a phone until 1pm. Literally. The police didn't check the property and neither did the security company. Absolutely pathetic. What the heck is this alarm for if they won't do anything? Call us 5 hours later to let us know it went off and there might be someone in the house. 5 hours is plenty for someone to do a full house robbery no? Thank god the window sensor was just messed up and everything was OK. Definitely finding a new alarm system company asap. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

I was given a time frame of 8-12 for a house call. Pretty typical but annoying - I was told I was the 2nd appointment of the day. The tech called me at 8:55 - let my house phone ring 2 times and hung up. I called him right back (4 times) and he did not answer. I left a message as well. He finally calls me at 11:27 and tells me he has another service call and then he will come to my house. I told him no thank you cause I had been waiting for him for 4 hours and I had to get to work. Why let the phone ring 2 times? Why not answer your phone when I called back so many times? He then acted totally clueless when I asked him these questions....... What a waste of my time. Pros: (1) The company offers a comprehensive product lines covering home security system, security monitoring, sound system integration. (2) Sales are responsive. Cons: (1) Things pretty much go down hill after sales deal is closed. It took more than half a year to have a malfunctioned video equipment replaced (out of stock). It took several times of malfunctions before they are willing to replace an ill-function image recorder. (2) The equipments are over charged. They are order of magnitude of lesser quality (image resolution, recording ability and data limit)) compared to more tech advanced competitors like DropCam (acquired by Google/Nest), yet order of magnitude more expensive. (3) Less than two years after installation, I got periodic problems with the video camera - mostly related to failure to record when motion was detected. The image sensor has perpetual issue with battery that the technicians could not fix. After multiple attempts to address all the issues in vain, I had stopped caring to fix them. I bought additional Nest cameras to back up the malfunctioning Gator Tech products, and Nest products have been working great. read more

My husband and I have been thinking about getting an alarm system for awhile. We finally decided to take the plunge. While we met with a couple competitors, I didn't like that we would basically be renting the equipment. I met with their sales rep who was very knowledgeable and explained all of our options. There wasn't any pressure which meant a lot to us. One year on, the problems continue - and since the warranty coverage is over now, the system is now sitting idle/ dysfunctional - I now run my thermostats separately, have installed FrontPoint home security and will be seeking help elsewhere. The home systems integration is extremely fragile/ brittle as it runs on wireless, there is no way of managing Apple iPad updates and the black box-Apple TV-Wifi settings can only be changed/ modified through a Control 4 dashboard that works only on a Windows machine (they never tell you that!). Gator Tech field technicians try to do their best, but the company and the management seems completely oblivious and unaware of customer issues. My suggestion (after $15,000 upgrade has resulted in a non-working system) - just don't use this company for anything. read more

In our first home we had an entire home theater system installed and then later added a flat screen TV to our Master Bedroom. In both cases, the Gator Tech Integration team were meticulous in their work and clean-up. To be transparent, when you are putting together complex electronics that involve structural challenges, hard wiring, wireless connectivity, and desperate brands, there is always a chance that things will not work right off the bat. I have interfaced with a variety of people: the owner, Vice President of the company, VP of sales, wiring technicians, as well as the office staff and each of these people have been absolute professionals, true to their word and detailed in their advice. I honestly feel like they have my best interests in mind when doing the alarm, audio, video, and home networking at my home and my friends homes. Their advice is tailored to my needs and not once have they tried to up sell me. Another thing that surprised me is that they do several on site walk throughout to make sure all the wiring is correct and perfectly symmetrical. I do not recommend working with this company. I was a customer for almost 5 years and when my system had a problem they were not able to figure it out. They have charged me for parts and refuse to refund me. The problem was something complete different, which I was able to figure it out myself later on. For about a month, I was very worried that someone was trying to break into my residence. My system was trigged many times, including in the middle of the night. Very very disturbing , but Gator Tech act as they didn't care at all. Two technician came to my residence, but none of them were able to find the problem or provide me a solution. They insist the problem was the sensors, which has nothing to do with the problem. I have tried to talk with the manager, send e-mail, left messages and he never replied to me. Horrible service and customer service. Better options are available, do not waste your time and money. This company doesn't is not reliable.
