This requires a lot of work, and this is ot a non-profit shop. I brought in several old Mcintosh vintage pieces. They needed a lot of work. One ended up costing a lot more to repair than what was estimated. They stuck to the estimate and asked if I would not mind at least paying for the additional parts needed. They basically lost money restoring an MP1-4 (look it up it is rare). they did it as a labor of love. They told me few were made and only a couple had ever come through the shop. They restored a pre-amp, tuner and power amp as well as the MP1. John explained what could and should not be done to bring these back to pristine condition. This is an honest good shop with techs who love working on vintage gear. I have to check if they are back up and running after the fire. I hope so!

The scope also specified the exact equipment to be used: two manufacturer-included mounts and one standard off-the-shelf mount already owned and being used in another room. No custom mounting or fabrication was requested. To be clear, all major electrical work had already been completed by a licensed electrician prior to this visit, including an in-wall media box and power where applicable. The written scope did not include infrastructure planning, signal design, or custom fabrication. The work requested was limited to: Mounting three TVs In-wall cable concealment on two TVs using existing wall paths/media boxes One new in-wall outlet (clearly called out and requested to be included in the quote) No drywall repair, no structural work, no permitting Despite this clearly defined written scope, the estimate was later characterized as covering "custom mounting," "infrastructure planning," and other items that were not part of the work requested and were never discussed. The quote came in at roughly 10× higher than multiple other licensed and insured installers for the same scope. The public response provided appeared to be boilerplate and did not address the specific written scope. It even referenced "[X] years of experience" without a number filled in, which suggested the response was copied without reviewing the details of this project. Before deciding, I verified licensing through the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) using the business name listed on their website. The CSLB records show the associated contractor licenses as expired, with a status stating the license is "expired and not able to contract at this time." Screenshots are included. For additional context, California limits unlicensed or handyman work to projects of $1,000 or less. Being quoted $5,000 for this scope made the pricing and justification even more difficult to reconcile. Experience and tools matter, but pricing and representations should align with the actual written scope of work and current licensing status. Attention to details matter as well, not clearly understanding the SOW, rushing quotes, and replies. Replying without understanding the issues. I will not being doing business with Basil as trust is important. I recommend getting multiple quotes, keeping scope in writing, and independently verifying license status before proceeding.

The reviews below turned me away from this company at first, but after one too many hitches with neighboring companies that were reviewed highly on Yelp, I figured reviews are not always the final word. It was definitely a great call. They by far surpassed expectations I had after dealing with other companies. Very willing to accommodate and work with you to meet what you are interested in. Not sure if I was lucky or the reviews below are simply the very few negative ones who decided to post here while the many positive cases dont use yelp. It has been a pleasure working with Gator and I will definitely work with them on my next project. The reason for the 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp is simply because they ran a little late, though they did inform me that this was occurring, and so I had to postpone the installation a day as I had other plans. But this happens with any business and I am glad they provided the notification rather than having ti simply wait on them as with most companies. The Savant home automation system works amazing. Do NOT waste your time and money with this company…read more We spent tens of thousands of dollars to have Bravas build out our entire home AV setup during renovation, only to have them: install outdated technology that now needs to be updated (not even three years later); install access points that were poorly thought out, resulting in dead zones within our home; and, worst of all (and as others have noted), provide ZERO customer service. We've been waiting over six weeks to respond to our recent outreach to have them address these issues and update our technology to increase bandwith, but can't get anyone on the phone or to respond to an email. Thankfully, we found a local company that is extremely responsive and actually knows what they are doing. I can't overstate how disappointed we are with Bravas and wished we had worked with a different company before spending so much money. Told me the steps to get a new one ordered from LG, which is covered under warranty. They repair to install would not be covered. He gave me and price to replace and would waive the diagnostic fee if they were to install the new compressor. The compressor took almost 2 weeks to get from LG as their process is not acceptable but nothing to do with Fair Repair. Once Alex received the compressor we scheduled the date to install, he came on a Friday night and finished putting in the new compressor. Fridge is back up and even though LG is responsible for such a bad product, Fair Repair did an great job getting our Fridge back up and running. Give Alex a ring next time something (appliance) gives out on you within couple years of owning it.
