Adary Electric - One of our Adary Electric vans out on the road -- proudly serving homes and businesses across the Peninsula since 1988

Adary Electric

TL;DR Adary has a lifelong customer in me. They check all the boxes you look for in a tradesperson…read more- they're responsive, knowledgeable, prompt, fairly priced, and take care in their work. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Backstory: My first experience with Adary was actually in 2021 - I had just purchased a new washer/dryer and needed an additional outlet installed. They were the only ones at the time who were willing to do a virtual walkthrough on FaceTime for the estimate, and I was so impressed by that interaction that I hired them to do the job. Come 2026, I was now looking to replace all the recessed lights + under cabinet lights + outlets and switches in the apartment. My recent experience was just as positive as the first time around. Shai was so helpful, not only talking me through timing and pricing but also giving me their supplier's contact info so I could source the parts myself and avoid their 15% markup on materials. (You're openly telling me how I can save myself money?! That alone sealed the deal.) The team who came on site was also extremely thoughtful. Turns out the previous electrician who installed the old recessed lights (who will not be named but sadly also has high reviews on Yelp) actually installed them the wrong way - instead of replacing/modifying the existing cans so the lights would clip in, he caulked/glued the whole thing to the drywall to get them to stay in, which meant the Adary guys (Kevin & Marco) had to cut the old ones out of the ceiling and replace the existing housings before they could install the new ones. Even with all this additional work, they still managed to complete the job a full day faster than expected (I was quoted ~3 days and they finished in 2), which was a pleasant surprise as we had agreed to bill by the hour. In summary, every interaction I've had with Adary has been nothing but exemplary. If only they did work outside of electrical - I'd never go to anyone else!

I've used Adary Electric multiple times now at my home in Redwood City and both times Victor has…read morebeen outstanding. First visit, he troubleshot a closet light that had lost its neutral behind a ceiling fan, tracked it down and reconnected it. He also diagnosed a dead 3-way switch in the hallway -- turned out the prior electrician had wired it wrong on a single pole -- and converted it properly to a 3-way. Knocked out a kitchen can light switch while he was at it. All done in about an hour. No other electrician was able to figure it out the closet light kerfuffle, but Victor did! Turns out he has nearly 30 years of experience! Second visit, Victor and Francisco came out to remove a 6" recessed can light and splice onto the switch leg to power a new ceiling fan I'd had installed. Clean work, everything labeled, no loose ends. Done in about 2.5 hours. Rates are fair ($125/hr), they show up when they say they will, and Victor clearly knows residential electrical inside and out -- he doesn't guess, he diagnoses. The kind of electrician you want working inside your walls. Highly recommend for anyone in the Peninsula area!

Formosa Electric - Big wire pull in main electrical room

Five Stars! Exceptional work from a highly professional team…read more I cannot recommend Formosa Electric highly enough! They stepped in to fix a highly problematic panel installation originally done by Tesla, and they handled the entire situation flawlessly. From start to finish, the team was incredibly knowledgeable, punctual, and professional. They took care of the entire city permit inspection process and coordinated seamlessly and efficiently with PG&E, completely taking the stress off my shoulders. Their workmanship is high-quality, precise, and clean. If you want an electrician that gets the job done right the first time, look no further than Formosa Electric!

I had a devastating experience with Formosa Electric and lost thousands of dollars due to their…read morefailure to disclose a critical project scope change before taking my money. We hired Formosa for an underground service upgrade from 100A to 200A. Before I made my payment, PG&E had already explicitly notified Formosa via email and provided an official design sketch detailing that a new utility pole would need to be installed in my backyard. Unbelievably, Formosa NEVER communicated this major change or showed me the PG&E design plan. I only found out when PG&E's construction trucks literally pulled up to my house ready to plant a utility pole in my backyard! I had no choice but to immediately cancel the entire project, resulting in thousands of dollars in non-refundable losses. Had Formosa simply passed on PG&E's notification when they received it, I would have stopped the project right then and avoided this massive financial loss. When I confronted them, Formosa claimed PG&E never informed them. However, I spoke directly with the PG&E Project Manager, who confirmed on the phone that Formosa was explicitly notified prior to my payment. When I asked Formosa to share their email correspondence with PG&E to prove their claim, they repeatedly refused. Their refusal to provide transparency speaks volumes. Furthermore, I only learned after switching to a new contractor that legitimate PG&E projects should be linked directly to the homeowner's PG&E account. Formosa never added this project to my PG&E account, intentionally or negligently keeping me completely in the dark regarding the project's true details and progress. Formosa has refused to offer any fair refund or accountability for their negligence. They hid a deal-breaking scope change, took my money, wasted thousands of my hard-earned dollars, and refused to stand by their work. Protect your home, your backyard, and your wallet--DO NOT hire Formosa Electric.

I highly recommend O'Connor & Sons Electric. Tom O'Connor is deeply knowledgeable, efficient, and…read moreextremely good at troubleshooting. During my whole-house remodel, he identified dangerous electrical issues that my contractor had introduced, including problems affecting the smoke and CO alarms. He quickly diagnosed the source of the problems, corrected the wiring and receptacles, and helped make the house safe again. His work was thorough, precise, and clearly grounded in real expertise. Tom is now also helping me with a beautiful new interior and exterior lighting plan, as well as whole-house surge protection for major systems and appliances, including my Powerwall and EV charger. Tom helped me select the exterior fixtures, and Jesse quickly and efficiently installed new motion-sensitive exterior lights. Jesse was friendly, helpful, and did a great job explaining the work. Tom is insightful, professional, and worth every penny. I'm very grateful for their work and for the peace of mind that comes with knowing the job is being done right.
