$550 for installing light bulb in the garage I called Oak Electric to help with a light that doesn't work in the garage and flickering lights in the bedrooms. Jason was very helpful to setup an appointment the following week. The issue is that he didn't tell me his hourly rate is $250. Unfortunately I wasn't home when he arrived and my wife and other family members watched them work. They took down the recessed lights but the flickering didn't stop, they still charged me for the labor (which is fine IF we had agreed on a price!) In the end, he charged me $550 for installing the lights in the garage. When I texted him to ask about this, he gave me a 40 mins call explaining why this is my problem. I think any mechanic or technician would charge a diagnostic fee and call the owner before proceeding with an expensive repair (I would have told him no), but according to Jason, that's my problem. So this is my experience, just sharing so that other people are aware of the hourly rate, they require you the customer to ask for the rate first. Then won't tell you. read more

I hired Jason to install a line of recessed lights along a hallway. It didn't turn out well. The lights were crooked and the final bill was more than I expecting. We can debate whether the bill was fair, but there is no debate about the lights. A laser alignment tool showed that some of the lights were up to an inch out of line with the others. In the end, I had to pay another electrician to redo the light placement and a drywall contractor to repair the unnecessary holes in the ceiling. Great service! If you are looking for electrician to install your Tesla Wall Connector here is your man Ja owner of Oak Electric. Jason on very short notice (2 days) squeezed our job in his busy schedule. He was very easy to reach, no needs for leaving message just immediate direct contact. He with his helper come today 1/7/20 at 7AM and within 1 1/2 hr installed Tesla Wall Connector. I was prepared for this installation thinking that this will be difficult job and getting nice clean and not intrusive installation. I sent him pictures with explanation via text messages what I would like to have done. I bought stud finder just in case and have other tools. He did not need all this stuff. He has everything in his van, all tools and all parts. Jason with his helper knows exactly how this could be done. This required to run wire from an electrical box that was unfortunately installed not in proper place when we originally built the house. Jason easily find out how to run behind the wall wire from electrical box to the place where Tesla Wall Connector was eventually situated. No condescending talks like you often hear from so called "experts" with years of experience. He run the #6 wire behind the wall and also replaced 50 amps circuits breaker to 60 amps so we could charge our Tesla with 48 amps. He did very clean job and after 1 1/2 hr Tesla had a new feed. We started out spec-ing a 240W electrical outlet in the garage for a new car. Then the solar guys told us we'd need our main electrical panel moved around a corner and upgraded before they could install. So we plopped a big job on top of a small one. Amazing service! Originally hired Oak Electric to sort out the power situation at our warehouse to handle a second 40 foot refrigerated shipping container. The prep work was done a few days prior to the container's arrival before Oak returned the day of delivery to power the reefer unit up. After other electricians had been no-shows or no-callbacks, Jason was a breath of fresh air. Our home's old Zinsco fuse box had to be replaced. No matter what, that is his minimum charge. Unfortunately, He doesn't tell you that in advance so it is quite shocking when he is in your house for 10 minutes and then charges $150. I bought a new washer. After used it for only a few days, I cannot turn it on. My husband checked breaker panel and turn it on and off couple of times but the outlet still does not have electric. I think it is beyond our safety zone to fix it by ourselves, so I searched my nextdoor and found couple of recommendations for Jason. I am so glad we called him. He found the neutral line for washer outlet was lose, seems previous electrician did not tight it up and it can be pull off at the site. That neutral line has burned and it could cause fire if not been fixed!
