Norman is the kind of handyman you need to bookmark/add to speed dial/put in your rolodex/or whatever it is kids do nowadays. He cuts through the BS to tell you how it really is, in a professional and informative way. You won't feel like you're being sold to. Instead, you'll feel like he's that handyman uncle that knows everything about taking care of a house, and can talk you through exactly what you need. In our case, he talked himself out of a job. He assessed what we thought was potential interior damage from a 2nd floor water leak onto a 1st floor ceiling, explained what we were dealing with, gave me enough information so I could further research our situation on my own, and assured me that we didn't need the repairs we thought we needed. What kind of person talks themselves out of a job? Someone that you can trust. That's the kind of quality handyman Norman is. We'll definitely call him for any future home issues. read more

Norman was the first one to respond to my inquiries with a fair quote after looking at the pictures of the old and the new faucets. He arrived on time and explained clearly to me what needs to be done. Not only he installed the new faucet, he also tightened up the wriggling filtration tap that has been wriggling. read more

Norman is a true gentleman and a business I would not hesitate to use again. I had an instant hot water insinkerator tap that was leaking water on the cold water side. I ask Norman if he could help out and a couple hours later he called me up and told me that he had called Insinkerator and talked to a technician that walked him through several tips. Some I could try without him coming out and would I mind trying them? Sure enough we were able to resolve it without him coming out! Thank you so much Norman! read more

San Mateo Handyman - Leaking Insinkerator Faucet that needed a fix. - Handyman Near Me - San Mateo, California

Norman is great. Quick availability and very respectable demeanor in your home. Norman quoted me $450 to replace my kitchen faucet, fix a leak in my bathroom sink, and re-caulking my bathtub/shower walls. 1/3 of the jobs were fully completed (the kitchen faucet). Norman looked at the bathroom faucet and advised me to get a plumber out to fix it. He went through the work of taking out the cabinet drawer, phoned a plumber friend, but no work could be done by him. Not an issue, I understand a plumber was needed, but the project wasn't completed by him. For the shower re-caulking project, he said the existing grout was an issue so he only caulked the perimeter of the tub and didn't re-caulk the walls. Also not an issue, but the job wasn't completed as intended. Norman still charged me $450. I asked him, "still? Even with the bathroom sink not fixed and the shower not fully re-caulked?" He just looked at me and nodded his head. I paid him the $450 but I don't feel great about it. I feel like there should have been a price adjustment because I agreed to $450 under the impression all 3 projects would have been completed. Kitchen faucet looks great and no leaks. I know Norman is a professional and does solid work. read more

Norman helped me with several move-out repairs before I returned my apartment, including fixing scratches on a wooden door, wall touch-ups, repairing and repainting curtain rod holes, and repairing/painting damaged baseboard edges and corners. I'm very satisfied with the overall experience. His pricing was reasonable, the repair results turned out great, and communication was always prompt and professional. I especially appreciated that he came by beforehand to inspect the damage in person and clearly explained what results to expect before starting the work. Everything looked much better after the repairs, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. I would definitely recommend him for apartment move-out repairs and paint touch-up work. read more

These days, it's really hard to find reliable, high-quality craftsmanship. I feel lucky to have found Norm. I had a door frame that needed to be repaired; when I talked to the manufacturer, they basically suggested that I replace the entire door, including the frame. Not only is that a complete waste of materials, but it's also just incredibly costly. Luckily, I found Norm on yelp and decided to see if he could repair my door frame. After exchanging photos, he was able to assess the work and provide a very reasonable quote. We then coordinated a time for him to come perform the repair. He showed up on schedule with his tools. And within about an hour, he was able to resolve the issue, checking with me in the middle of it to make sure that the work he was doing was acceptable. I'm almost reluctant to post this review as I hope that Norm will continue to be available in the future. However, he's a great resource and deserves to be acknowledged for his work. read more

I feel really lucky we found Norman. He's polite, professional, and trustworthy, communicates in a timely fashion, prides himself on doing jobs properly and cleans up after himself. We hired him to reseal a leaking shower tray, reseal round a bath, reseal a kitchen countertop, attach some furniture to the walls, replace a light switch and reattach a bathroom door that had come of the hinges. He took his time with each of the jobs, telling me about any potential problems in advance and completing them all well. The areas that were resealed were very neatly finished. He thought carefully about the safest and least obtrusive way to attach the bookshelves to the walls - consulting us in the process - and answered any questions we had knowledgably. The price he quoted was reasonable for the amount of work done and below other quotes we received. I would definitely use him again. read more

Look no further, hire Norman for whatever you need done in your home! Best work I hired Norman for several small jobs around the house and would absolutely hire him again. I reached out to several highly rated handymen on Yelp. Norman was the only one who asked a bunch of questions by text, asked for measurements and pictures and videos, told me to buy particular materials and measure/test them and send him pictures, etc in advance to make sure everything would work. His estimate for the work was similar to what others quoted and I appreciated his attention to detail before even arriving so I hired him for the work. With some of the parts of the job, there would have been no way for it to have been done when he was here if Norman hadn't done all this detail-oriented planning in advance. When at my home he told me what was cosmetic and what needed to be fixed to avoid damage. He told me what he wasn't comfortable doing or he didn't think needed to be done. He had creative solutions to making things work (altering a standard closet bracket from Ace hardware to fit in a closet with weird dimensions). He explained what he was doing and why and showed me how to do a few things on my own. He was open to feedback when I was a perfectionist and asked him to go back over an area he had patched/painted. An example of Norman going above and beyond: There was a small crack in the wall I had asked him to patch/paint. While other handymen would have done it and left it at that, Norman investigated to find out the cause (cracked caulk on the outside window pane) and offered to fix it. Very knowledgable, detail-oriented, skilled, and kind. Stop scrolling and bookmarking and hire Norman! read more

Fantastic experience with Norman. He arrived on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, explained options, and completed the work with care. Quality craftsmanship, fair pricing, and a clean workspace read more

I found Normal to have unclear and deceptive pricing. He does not provide an estimate without seeing a link to the product, which I assume is to gauge how much he can charge customers. I've never had an experience like this. After a few messages and asking him to be clear about the estimate, he says "he is out of town for undetermined period of time." read more

I called to inquire about the services listed that he performed on Yelp. It took him 8 hours to respond back to me. When I finally was able to talk with him, he spoke in a slurred voice and seemed as if he was drunk? After asking if he could help me with the thousand's of dollars in repairs that I needed done - He abruptly told me to stop talking 5 minutes into the phone call and that I was wasting his valuable time?? I called him because of his 5-star rating on Yelp? Big mistake. Maybe I called the wrong number? But he did say his name was Norman of San Mateo Handyman? read more

Look how different the previous and new looks like! My house hasn't been taken care for quite a long time, the paint starts to get peel off. Also the outer wall has some cracks on it. We are worried about the next year raining season, as a wood house the waterproof is always very important. Norman is really responsible to the work, and he is very clear on each work item. He will visit the house and see the condition, and then he will send the quote that lists every details you discussed with clear amount. And he will not charge extra at the end, everything is been discussed and agreed by together, and no extra back and forth later. It's quite a very good work experience with him. Also his work is very high quality. His assistant Vic is also a very nice guy with solid handy work ability. The price is fair and very match the quality I receive. Definitely I will find him for next work again. Thanks Norman! read more
