Very quick and helpful reply. Bob walked me through a quick troubleshooting and solved my problem. Thank you Bob for your help!

Bob was detailed and found a solution to the problem. He was knowledgeable and efficient.

Bob responded to an urgent request to come look at a fuse box to figure out what was going on with the dryer tripping the fuse repeatedly. He was so awesome! He was transparent about what he charges. He fit us in on a busy day. He explained the issue and provided a temporary fix so we could do laundry. Then he followed up as soon as he could and came and fixed it. I highly recommend Bob! He is very clear about potential issues and also about costs. read more

One of my kitchen recessed can fixtures was flickering. The original fixture was no longer available. Bob ordered a replacement on Amazon. He scheduled an appointment for the following day. His cost was very reasonable and the installation was quick. I'll definitely use his services again and recommend him to others. read more

They responded immediately to my inquiry and were able to help me troubleshoot over the phone and help me realize the issue was an easy fix. Thank you for a great experience! read more

Bob responded to our evening Yelp request within minutes and, over the phone, he triaged the possible sources of the strange buzzing noise in our kitchen. With Bob's guidance, we found the source of the buzzing and fixed the problem. Bob's help was invaluable, and he didn't charge us. We appreciate your help, Bob, and look forward to hiring you for real another time! read more

Bob is an awesome person to work with! He was efficient and friendly. He came over to fix a few minors things around our home and we couldn't be happier to work with Bob. He changed a few damaged outlets, repaired our exterior outlets with new covers, and fixed our lights. It's been a few months since Bob has fixed our outlets and they all work fine til this day. We highly recommend BOB and his services for your home needs. read more

Bob from Hillsborough Electric responded like within 2 minutes of me asking for availability on a Tuesday night at 9:30pm. Talk about quality of service! I will be calling them in the future for sure! read more

Bob answered promptly, provided accurate and upfront costs, and completed the repairs expertly and on time. Highly recommended.

I can't thank Bob enough. I recently had an issue with wall sockets in my kitchen. Bob immediately helped me and it took him just minutes to guide me and solve the problem. He saved me so much money! I'll never forget his kindness and integrity. I've already told friends about him. We need to spread the word..... he's great!! read more

Bob was a pleasure to work with! We had a weird issue where our lights would randomly flicker in certain rooms, and he was very patient in trying to diagnose it over text/phone with me over the course of like 2 weeks. This was him generously wanting to be sure if he came out he could fix it, so as to not charge us anything if it wasn't absolutely necessary. I super appreciated that and it really shows he cares more about getting the issue fixed for you than just trying to nickel and dime his customers! read more

Bob helped me replace an LED light strip transformer. He is very responsive, provided a lot of information over the phone and then was at my place one hour later. He troubleshooted the problem, found the broken component and helped order a replacement. I'm happy with the services provided and will by happy to work with Bob in the future. read more

Had some plugs go out which included the one for the fridge. Bob was super helpful and solved the problem over the phone but was also willing to come out the same day if needed. He is honest and kind. I would always ask him for help again. read more

Bob fixed a frustrating lighting issue in my parent's new condo. He was patient walking us through possible solutions over the phone. On the day of the appointment, Bob was on time and got right down to work. I would not hesitate to reach out to him in the future. Thanks! read more

Can I just say that Bob is the nicest guy! I messaged him to request a quote and he let me know that it was too big for him to do (with just one guy) but he offered me some tips, gave me a website to explore, and was genuinely concerned about my family's well being. What an incredible person. If I ever have a smaller job to do, I will definitely be calling him. read more

Bob really came through for me after I had damage to my electrical box and vertical pipe (mast) following recent wind storms. PG&E shut off my power and left me in the dark. I called him on a Saturday, and he walked me through a number of fixes over the phone but I eventually got to a point where I needed his professional assistance. He was very straightforward about his pricing and did a great job with the fix. I learned a lot just by working with him. read more

We called Bob with a strange electrical issue we were having, and he gave us some things to try over the phone, free of charge. When that didn't work, we asked Bob to come out and take a closer look at the problem. He did a thorough inspection and found that it was a PG&E issue, which PG&E later solved for us. Throughout the entire experience, Bob was upfront and honest about his pricing and diagnosis of the problem. Thanks Bob! read more

Had a phone consult and was very happy with the advice given by this company. Honest.

Our tenant in San Mateo called and said that the electricity was out in half the house, late on a Saturday, a few weeks ago. Bob let us know that he could come out the next morning (Sunday), but that we should consider calling PG&E as it may be a problem with their equipment getting to our house. We asked Bob to come out anyway. He was right, there were PG&E problems with 3 houses on the block. However, these had created problems with our Electrical Box. Box was able to fix the problem in only 1 1/2 hours. He also counseled us that we may need to replace our box since it was so old and the amps were low. He no longer does this work, but told us what to look for in getting quotes for the work. I couldn't believe Bob was willing to come out so quickly and on a Sunday and that he knew what to do. I would absolutely call Bob if we had a problem again! He is invaluable and so honest. read more

I had an issue with one of my circuit breakers which I deduced most likely needed to be changed out as the 2 outlets it connected to to both stopped working. I contacted a handful of electricians regarding changing out the circuit breaker and Bob immediately responded by asking to speak over the phone. He asked for information regarding the problem and instead of trying to try and get the service work, he walked me through what potentially needed to be done and was very transparent about the simplicity of changing a breaker myself to save on having an electrician charge a few hundred dollars. He was genuinely trying to help me fix my problem even if he was not going to get paid for a service call. I truly appreciated his transparency and honesty! While he does charge by hourly rate, if I had any other electrical needs I would trust Bob to do the job. read more

I called Bob to ask about some lights flickering at our house and he spent several mins with me over the phone asking questions. He then suggested I try having PG&E come out to the house first, which is ended up being the right course of action and saved me $$$ since I didn't spend a dime. I really appreciated his honest take and feel grateful to have found him! read more

I had a great experience working with Bob. The issue with our flickering lights ended up being a PG&E issue after Bob tried his best to figure out what was going on. He reassured us that he would only charge us if there was something he needed to fix. And he followed up with us until PG&E finally resolved the issue. Would highly recommended Bob's services! read more

Bob was very helpful in an introductory call to brainstorm some diagnostic strategies that could be deployed to determine the source of the problem. I'm sure he must have had better things to do than discuss my electrical problem Friday evening, but you wouldn't have known it- he was very cordial and patient. read more

Bob is the best electrician I've ever dealt with. He is a real professional and his works are extremely precise. If I need more electric changes in my house, I will definitely ask him again. I asked Bob to modify 8 cups of recessed lights in the kitchen. There were recessed halogen lights previously and I wanted to install LED ones. He did an excellent job! He removed all existing cups for halogen lights and installed new cups designed for LED. In the process, he cleaned up all existing mess in the ceiling. I love his work ethic to do it rigorously. Also I like how closely he communicates with customers. During the project, he communicated clearly to me about everything including estimate, schedule, what he is doing, and next steps in text messages and in-person conversations. I always felt I knew what would happen in the next step and what I could expect as a result. I did never need to worry about the project in the process. This excellence is rare in the US. read more

Had the best experience with Bob. My dryer stopped turning on and it became apparent that the outlet was not working so I quickly contacted local electricians to get someone to look at it. Bob responded promptly and we set up a time for a call. He talked me through some diagnostics and figured out and resolved the problem quickly and since he did so on the call, he most likely saved me $100s on a visit which most electricians immediately recommend. It's very rare nowadays to find someone who is really invested in delivering a great service and I really appreciate it. read more

Called to get an estimate for a commercial repair for a kitchen exhaust switch. Was very professional and kind on the phone and even though it was not quite the right fit for what I needed in my budget he took the time to give me great advice and I really appreciated that. Will definitely go with them when I ever need higher end work done. Thank you! read more

I had lights that were flickering on/off (NOT dimming) throughout a large portion of the home and would occasionally just stop working for hours at a time. Another electrician took 5 hours at $910 crawling around the ceiling space, reconnecting and "tightening" things and claimed it was all better. It was not -- the power issues continued 2 days later. Got in contact with Bob at 11am, he came out that same day by 2pm, had the problem fixed 30 minutes and $300 later; money well spent. Turns out the previous folks had missed that an entire breaker bar contact in the main panel had been sparking and completely corroded the bar contact. Bob put in a new breaker on undamaged bar contacts and put everything back together. read more

In our garage, we used a heater at the same time while the Tesla was charging and the garage outlet circuit tripped. GFCI reset on the garage outlet didn't click. But the circuit breaker for the garage GFCI is not on our inside electrical panel. Bob the electrician from Hillsborough Electric was going to come out today, but he called me a couple times first to make sure I tried everything. Bob asked if there was a electrical panel outside the house. Sure enough there was one, with Garage GFCI labeled. Flipped that switch, then reset the GFCI button on the outlet, electricity came back on in garage. Saved me some money! I think Bob knows his stuff and he is also an honest & very helpful man. This is the second time I've contacted him, cannot recommend highly enough! read more

Was experiencing surging power in my home. Other electricians were going to charge for a consult, but they called me up, identified the problem was with PGE and gave me the right number to call without a charge. Super friendly, super responsive, and most of all honest. read more

Bob was extremely reliable and his work was great. Best electrician we've had, hands down. We had a difficult problem with our door buzzer and he was able to come up with a custom switch solution. Other electricians were unable to figure out how to fix it. read more

The outlets in my kitchen were suddenly out of work during the cooking time, including the one connected to the freezer. I was so panic. I contacted Hillsborough electric on Yelp out of their business hours. Surprisingly, I got reply right away from Bob. He was super nice and very experienced. He spotted the problem right away after collecting the information from my end, and did the troubleshooting and directed to the issue that caused the problem. I really appreciated his help, which ended up saving me a lot of money! I will recommend him to anyone who has outlets issues! 5 stars!!! read more

What a kind and honest man. I would highly recommend hiring Bob for any electrical needs that you might have. Thank you Bob.

We needed an electrician quickly over Memorial Day weekend to check on some issues that came up during an HVAC installation with a contractor who we very suddenly found ourselves not being sure of at all and Bob made himself totally available, he was upfront about cost and what his expertise qualified him for relative to our needs, showed up right on time, was efficient and prudent in assessing and fixing what needed fixing, and definitely didn't seem overly punitive in his assessment of the electrical work that had been done by other contractor. He also checked in the next day to make sure all was well! Highly recommend. read more

I had an issue with lights flicking in the house. Spoke with Bob and he suggested that it may be a PG&E issue. PG&E came and was able to solve. Bob is knowledgeable, honest, and on point. I will reach back to him should I have other electrical issues. read more

I called on a Saturday because power was out in part of my house, including the refrigerator. Hillsborough Electric said there was a good chance this was a problem PG&E would fix for free. And this turned out to be true. I really appreciated the honesty and certainly will use them whenever I need an electrician. read more

All the outlets on 1 circuit were out in my kitchen and wouldn't work even after resetting the breaker. Bob quickly got in touch with me after I reached out, and suggested several issues that could be the cause. It turned out his suggestion that the GFCI outlet was correct and the problem was resolved after replacing the outlet. I didn't get to hire Bob this time since I was able to replace the outlet myself, but he'll be the first electrician I call in the future for other issues. read more

Bob is very responsive, I requested a quote and got the project done shortly after. He was very honest about the rates and did the project in only 30 minutes! Would recommend to other locals. read more

I had a problem where the kitchen electricity was off, but the breaker appeared to be on. Bob talked me through it over the phone and didn't charge a thing. Great guy! read more

I had a DIY project gone wrong and needed a pro. I found Hillsborough Electric in Yelp because they were close to me and because of the five star status and the many positive comments. I called and got voice mail. I was in a hurry so I decided to try another company; I did not leave a voice mail with Hillsborough Electric . I got voice mail at the second company and decided to leave them a voice mail. In the meantime, based only on the caller ID Bob called back before the other company responded. Great! I needed help so I proceeded to describe my problem. As Bob listened he suggested that I could save money if I did the fix myself. He started to describe how to do that but I interrupted - I was already in hot water because my DIY skills weren't up to the task. I told him I wanted it done by a pro. And that's what I got - a pro. It wasn't the biggest job in the world, but he came at the appointed time, got the job done, and was a pleasure to work with. If I need electrical work in the future, I won't need Yelp to guide me. I know who I will call. read more

Our job was too big for Bob to do and he was honest about it. Even gave me some tips and knowledge on electrical related work. Very nice!
