Peter responded to our Home Depot pro referral project and we are so glad we went with him! He was prompt, professional, and quoted us for a much lower and totally reasonable rate than the other company, which was more than the cost of the stove we got! We needed a new 240V plug added in the kitchen for the induction stove and he was able to stop by the next day we contacted him, and complete the job the following day in one visit. I highly suggest Peter for any and all of your electrical needs! We had him come out on 2 different occasions several months apart. First visit was to install an outlet in my laundry closet and another outlet in the junction box (for WiFi routers). Second visit was to install an outlet by the toilet for a bidet. I've used his services on two occasions now - connecting a hot tub, creating dedicated circuit breakers and wiring/conduits, installing lights, and fixing a doorbell. I had a Nema 14-30 outlet installed and I was very happy with the service and everything went smoothly. He was very fun to talk to and did a very clean job in a timely manner. The most important thing was he was not one of those folks who charge you 2-3x when they know you're getting the outlet for a Tesla. The price was the best by far among all the electricians I got quotes from. And considering the quality of work, I got great bang for the buck. The negative reviews seem more like misunderstandings and they're not about the quality of the work so I highly recommend him if you're looking for installing an outlet or an EV charger. read more

I usually don't write negative reviews, but I'm compelled to write one after the experience I had with this electrician. We had scheduled some time for Peter to come out and check out the job. Two hours before the appointment I messaged him confirming if he's still coming. He said that someone else took the timeslot because "I asked where you lived and you refused to give me your address." I looked back at my message history thinking I made an honest mistake but there was no indication of that. He originally asked me which city I lived in and I mentioned San Francisco. I then gave him my address and asked him to come by and he mentioned that he is booked for the next two months. In all, I had a very poor experience with Paul. He seemed like a promising electrican given the reviews, but I planned my day around this appointment and he didn't even have the courtesy to cancel with sufficient notice and then said that he's not interested in the job anymore (which was fairly substantial, by the way) read more

Hired PDO electrician to repair service panel and run 6 gauge wire to kitchen for 50 amp breaker for radiant heat range. I seriously hate having to write this review, but this was possibly the worst contractor experience I've had in memory. I had 2 sets of track-lighting in my kitchen that suddenly "died" in a very complex pre-1970's wiring system. I made the mistake of calling PDO who said it would be $149 for the diagnosis, then came over for less than 10 minutes and literally just tapped the system and the light switch to see if the current was flowing and told me he was "positive it was the ballast", assuring me it was just a simple job of switching that out, and telling me if he did any more it would "get expensive". Well...no...total misdiagnosis, but took my money easily enough. I had taken apart the entire system to expose the wiring, then texted him photos to show him it couldn't be the ballast as the system literally had 2 hots in and out (again, very old system). I ended up having to get ANOTHER electrician out (Sepanta Electrical...they are here on Yelp and THIS is who you want to call) who knew exactly what to do. Turned out to be a shorted wire in the transformer box; after that was replaced, he rewired the system to accommodate the newer fixtures; all for just a little more than PDO's price for the misdiagnosis. I texted PDO after, telling Pete what it was; his response was, "yeah...I said it was the transformer..." Nope. if he had taken just a few minutes longer to check the transformer box or even unscrew the lighting system (which is what you expect in a diagnostic) he MAY have found the problem...then again maybe not. I tried to give him an opportunity to make this right, but air-silence, so take this review as a word of warning/caution. read more

Disclaimer: PDO Electrical Services did not work on my project. With that said, Peter came out to look at my project of installing an EV car charger. While at my house, he inadvertently put too much pressure on my irrigation box which caused the pipes to misalign and created a leak. Thank goodness the cutoff switch was nearby, but I am not looking forward to fixing the pipe. To make matters worse, he said he would provide an estimate for my project AND then responded that he would "have to pass" on my project. Overall, I would not reach out to this company again due to lack of situational awareness and follow through. read more

The power in my house went out on a Sunday evening. The houses to either side of me were on, and I had tripped a breaker. I'm very pleased with the service provided by Peter of PDO. The outlets in my two bathrooms recently stopped working on a rainy night. On the phone, Peter was very clear in describing the price for him to do an analysis and resolution. He also clearly communicated availability, and was able to come by two days after the call, despite being very busy. There were many possible causes for the nonfunctioning outlets, and during his visit, he tested for many different possible causes, eliminating each possible cause until he found the actual cause. Can't say enough great things about Peter/PDO Electrical Services (but I'll try!) --- talk about someone going above and beyond the call of duty! My 'RING Pro' doorbell connection issue was as bizarre and as convoluted as they come (kind of comes with the territory with an older home and older wiring) - but Peter, with his can-do, 'Wiring/transformer..... you've met your match!' attitude got to the bottom of the problem and resolved it....... which involved a lot of crawling around underneath the house and having to make a trip to Millbrae for a more powerful transformer, since it was not available around Menlo Park. Peter IS the professional you want on board to tackle your electrical problems - because he's going to make SURE the problem is resolved, no matter what. ... and if you're thinking about getting a RING doorbell or any of their products that require hard wiring, DO hire Peter for the job (and avoid RING's recommended installer, HelloTech). HelloTech does not have the electrical background to deal with any problems that might potentially arise with RING's hard-wired products. I found that out the hard way. Thank you again, Peter!!! My internet went out one day and the cable company found a melted coax cable under the electric box. After they took the melted cable away, the house started having a brown out. We called peter at night. He not only picked up the phone but also patiently diagnosed the issue over the phone. Based on his understanding, he thought there was an issue with our neutral and we should call pg&e. Next morning, we called pg&e. They confirmed his theory and were able to resolve the problem. We contacted Peter to install a Ring Pro on our house because we had determined our existing transformer was inadequate (12V instead of minimum 16V) and we have a place with an older electrical wiring system. He was able to install the upgraded transformer and the actual doorbell while explaining how previous work was done, logic wise. He also fixed an improperly shimmed and mounted electrical outlet before he left after figuring out why the last person set it up crookedly.
