Second only to their homes. I'm well aware of the exacting standards needed. The self discipline needed and the attention to detail and care for details needed to restore someone's prized luxury vehicle. Those same standards apply to working in or on someone's home. My previous reviews explain how I met Jake at Barker Tech. This is a new review with new perspective. It's been over two years since I paid Jake and shook his hand. In those two years Jake has reached out 3 times to check on my home and his work. It just seems to be how he is. In those two years I've reached out with some admittedly stupid questions and each time he's addressed my concerns without any snark or down talk that some techie guys use when speaking to plebes. I needed additional home tech stuff and naturally I reached out to Jake. His response was timely given his work load and he immediately offered elegant solutions to an inelegant problem. (Someone in my neighborhood is actively using my gravel yard as a dog pit stop and leaving me nasty surprises ). Jake offered some very clever options up to and including an outdoor speaker paired with my existing camera system (that he installed ) to politely ask the offending dog owner to remove their dog waste. Ultimately my wife vetoed the idea of me having the ability to leave audio messages for bad neighbors. But Jake's suggestion of an upgraded new camera with AI facial recognition and a wider field of view was perfect. Within a week Jake personally came back and upgraded the camera thus negating the one small blind spot the offender had been using. He kept his word. He sent me tutorials and worked with me not even being home to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with my upgraded surveillance view before leaving. Setting standards and holding yourself to them are key to excellence. Keeping your word and delivering what you promise are key to excellence. But. Excellence isn't derived from robot like adherence to guidelines. It's a combination of many intangible things. It's rare these days to encounter true excellence in almost any field. Jake at Barker Tech is an excellent example of excellence in action. Trustworthy. Reliable. Professional. Meticulous. Passionate. Informed and informative. Personable and Diligent. I'm a client for life.

Our home has an older AV system installed years ago by another contractor. Over time, the system became outdated, complicated, and the contractor became harder to reach and increasingly expensive. My wife and I separated several years ago, but she still lives in the home and has always struggled with the universal remote and the setup's complexity. Recently, she called me in distress because she couldn't turn on the television in the living room. Under normal circumstances, that would be a small inconvenience. But my wife is currently battling stage-four ovarian cancer and only has a few months left. All she wanted was the simple comfort of sitting on the couch and watching TV. I called Jake and explained the situation. Without hesitation, he said he would come take a look. The next day, he and one of his technicians, Wilson, showed up and spent over an hour patiently troubleshooting the system until they got everything working again. When the work was finished, I asked what I owed him. Jake said there would be no charge given my wife's condition. I was honestly taken back. In a world where it often feels like everything is transactional, Jake chose compassion instead. This wasn't just good service, it was humanity, and I'll never forget that kindness. The person said to make it easier he would need to drill some holes to help hide the wires. He asked if we had paint and said he could patch it. Next thing you know we have a 5"x5" hole in our fireplace along with holes in another wall. The patch was left unfinished. He said he had a paint brush initially and then later said he didn't. Pretty sure he was using a paper towel. Then told me I should paint it in an hour. Called their office and Nikki told me their team doesn't do paint or patching...ok. Why say you can? She couldn't tell me when someone would be back out and never called me back. So we have a mounted tv but now we need a professional painter to come fix the botched patch. Not to mention I spent 30 mins cleaning up after they left.

Aside from being very knowledgeable about his domain, Kurtis and his team are also able to think creatively about different solutions. The pathway they created for all the wiring took them a great deal of effort, but it's almost invisible, both inside and outside the house. Their team worked tirelessly to make sure everything was installed well while maintaining the esthetic of our house. Asking for small adjustments, like lowering the TV after the first installment or removing older cameras, was never an issue. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Kurtis, and I'd be more than happy to approach him again for future projects.

I left them a message and they quickly called me back and had someone out there the next day. They had this huge truck with some lift attached to it and they were able to determine that most of them were out because of the light bulbs. They did have to change a few light fixtures out, but these guys were great in trouble shooting it and giving us advice on other items. I was talking to the owner and he mentioned that they were licensed electricians and that they could do other electrical work too. Will keep them in my books.

When I brought it back, I was charged an additional $60 to fix what should have already been resolved. What's most frustrating is that I couldn't get a clear explanation as to why I was being charged again for the same issue. If a repair doesn't hold up after a week, that should fall under some kind of workmanship guarantee--not an additional charge. I want to continue supporting this business because I've had good experiences in the past, but this situation felt unfair and left me questioning the quality and accountability of the repairs.

I basically had nuisance fuse that kept tripping. I contacted seven electricians in my area. Most had hourly prices that were nearly twice as much as Electrical Control SF and would require a week before they could even come to diagnose the issue. Tony responded immediately through Yelp and text. He came out the next day. What I really appreciate is the fact that he saw that my household takes their shoes off before entering and he did this without question or complaint. He was thorough in explaining my electrical problem to me and my landlord. He even handled the billing with the landlord directly! I found out Ernesto to be a safe, highly skilled, and efficient professional as I watched him work (only after asking if that would be OK to look over his shoulder) in the diagnosis of the problem and watched him correct the problem with my electrical system in my home. I have a high interest in learning new things as I'm a medical professional and from what I experienced and learned today as I watched and spoke to Ernesto about the problem that I would consider him to be a true professional that is very good in what he does. The fees assessed were a very good value for the expediency and the level of work provided. I hired Boaz Electric to do two things: 1.) rewire some cables in my master bedroom. 2.) replace out the old outlets with new ones. The owner name is Rudy and he is the one who completed the job. He also mentioned that he doesn't patch walls - this point is very important as you're reading my review. Without my consent, Rudy cut open my master bedroom closet drywall and didn't even bother patching them up. I understand he doesn't patch walls but why cut open my master bedroom closet? In addition, he left my house with a mess, used outlets throughout my house, dust everywhere, and debris from the drywall all over my closet. This part is purely my mistake. I didn't make a big fuss about the mess Rudy left behind in my house because I figured that he'll come back to do one more round of clean up. So I gave him the final check. Bad mistake. Rudy collected the final payment and refused to 1.) patch the walls and 2.) do a final clean up. Instead, he said, "this is not my job, you go find someone else". It's very clear that Boaz Electric took advantage of my kindness here. I've asked 1 electrician and 1 contractor to come out to review the work completed by Rudy. They both agreed that this is poor quality work and it's an unacceptable job. Matter of fact, they also confirmed there's an easier way to rewire the cables, cut some holes and fish the wires to the other side of the wall. Simple! But Rudy failed to do so. Please see attached photos of the damages in my closet caused by Boaz Electric. I texted Rudy and expressed my frustration on his work and requested he take 1/2 of the financial responsibility for the repairs. No reply. Please see attached text exchange. I tried calling Rudy again and again. He finally answered and I purposed that we find a solution that we both can agreed to and he refused. In addition, he yelled at me over the phone, "I told you I don't care! This is your problem and not mine. Don't call me again!". Rudy nonstop yelling at me over the phone as if I'm the one who destroyed his house. Very unprofessional. Please take your business elsewhere.

Because Juan didn't really give me any additional information in his initial response (like pricing, availability, etc), beyond it would need in-person troubleshooting, I totally forgot about him. As I was sitting my living room with extension cords running all over the place from other rooms with working power, I figured I should contact him again, not really expecting a response (on Thanksgiving morning-sorry). Well he replied within a couple minutes and was at my house in 2 hours with his son-- I forgot his name but he was very sweet and patient as he is learning the trade from his dad. Juan identified and fixed the problem in maybe 15 minutes! He answered all of my questions and explained the problem/process to me in the frigid cold. He gave me a great "last-minute-on a holiday morning-super cold outside" rate. This was an "easy" fix so I don't know about larger jobs but I will definitely be in contact for future work, of which I have much. I feel lucky to have found Novus/Juan, I'd recommend him!

Emmett responded to our call last night when our vacuum triggered a partial power outage. We were super grateful that he came by on time at 8am, and he helped us find a temporary fix for a larger issue. He gave us a reasonable quote for the larger issue and we'll be reaching out for him to come by again in the next couple of weeks. Emmett was thorough in diagnosing the problem and explained to us exactly what was going on and what he was doing. He's also very friendly, punctual and was available on a Sunday. For all of that, I'd definitely recommend him!
