I locked myself out of my apartment at 9:15pm on a Saturday night ‍. I browsed yelp and Nova Locksmith had the highest review count, so figured they'd be pretty experienced with my basic door knob lock. When I called, I was told it would be $185 for one simple lock. It was higher than usual because it's late/weekend and someone could be over in 20 min. They came 30 min later and it took 10-15 min to convince him the apartment was mine to access and 1 hr to bump/pick the lock (he says it took a long time because the lock is old/used a lot). He ended up charging an extra $25 because it took him longer than he expected (even though it was the same basic lock he expected when it was quoted), which I did not dispute, but think it should have been mentioned in the upfront quote.
