Quick response, fair price, friendly and informative service. Alex rekeyed 7 locks for me and fixed a loose cylinder. He also taught me a bit about the ages of the various older locks in my old house. I'll definitely call him first the next time I need a locksmith. read more

5 - Fast, responsive, reliable, and up-front about costs. Alex at Nova Locksmith responded to my project request on Yelp in under 30 seconds. Got on a call where he asked some questions about my lock and needs. He used that info to diagnose how to rekey my lock and was very upfront about costs -- no surprises here. I was also assured that he'd arrive within the timeframe agreed -- worst thing is waiting forever and then getting a cancellation 2 hours after the appointment time. That didn't happen, Alex was super communicative, responsive, and timely. Finally, he knows his stuff. When he arrived, my building said the postman needed to be here to rekey my condo mailbox. I thought I was going to have to coordinate another appointment with the postman, but Alex assured my building that he could do it, and 15 min later, I gained access to my overflowing mail box with 3 new keys and 2 weeks to fill out and mail back my 2024 ballot Hopefully I'll be more responsible with my keys moving forward, but if I need locksmith services again, I'll go directly to Alex at Nova Locksmith. read more

professional and quick service! lost my bike key and Alex was able to help. highly recommend.

I hired Nova after being very clear on what my issues were, which was that the door latch spring did not engage so I couldn't open my front door. He said he was an expert in mortise locks so I went ahead and setup a time. He charged me $160 to come out and after 15 minutes of taking some pictures and measurements, he left. Let me state again that he charged me $160 to come out and didn't even take out the lock to see what the problem was. Instead, he tried to guess. He never got back to me, and only would respond after several calls/texts over many weeks. Eventually, I had to give up and find another option. Since I had no resolution, I was forced to hire another company. I recommend Transbay Lock if you are in Marin. For a total of $175 they came out and within 20 minutes repaired one broken spring and reinstalled the lock. It was just that easy. Problem solved. I am a reasonable person by nature and I'm sure it's possible to have an off day, but the fact that Nova never even took the lock out to inspect it says a ton. His lack of professionalism cost me twice as much as it should have not to mention the wasted time. I want my money back. read more

Alex is very professional and efficient. He helped me taking out the lock without leaving any damage to my storage unit. The whole service was less than 10 mins. Highly recommend! read more

Alex replaced the gate lock for our building recently and did a fantastic job. Super professional when talking to him on the phone, and he also explained a bit about various lock options and which ones would make sense based on the pictures of the gate I sent him. I appreciated that information. He arrived on time and worked quickly, and charged a pretty reasonable price. Would highly recommend! read more

Hired Alex the Locksmith based on reasonable quotes(not the cheapest) and reviews. Before our appointment, he emphasized punctuality due to his 'tight schedule'--felt like I was being prepped for a date with a VIP. But, surprise! He played hard to get on the day. I had to reach out to get his ETA. First, he's late, then just late-late. When I got a hold of him at the end of our time slot, he was an hour away. Offered me a whopping $10 discount for my troubles but wanted to reschedule since he wasn't in the mood for an hour's drive. If you're looking for a locksmith who plays hard to get, Alex is your guy. Otherwise, maybe look elsewhere. read more

My Anderson inswing patio door lock got stuck, causing the door not cloaing and had to be left ajar overnight on a Friday. Eddie came over Saturday, fixed the jammed locks, and adjusted them so now the door locks work like a charm. Definitely, it's like night and day! I highly recommend Nova Locksmith for their skills, professionalism and reasonable cost! read more

I contacted Alex to change the keys on my apartment as well as address an issue of my lock getting stuck when used. He was able to change the keys without any problem, but said that the lock getting stuck was a door alignment issue which is very expensive to fix but as a "favor" he would trim the metal plate to temporarily address the issue. Two days later, I was experiencing the same issue with the lock getting stuck so I called him back. His solution? Completely cut out the metal plate, fill it with some sort of wood putty leaving the door totally shaky and loose. It did not feel safe at all. Isn't that the number one priority of a locksmith? When I called him back the third time, he reiterated that cutting out the metal plate was a "favor" that he did for me, and that there is no other solution other than calling a door company to fix the "alignment issue". He also said that the metal plate I had was so rare and unique that there is no way he could replace it. Luckily I called another locksmith, who came out the same day and was able to replace the metal plate and fix the issue within 30 minutes. Essentially I had to hire someone else to fix the job that Alex did. Moral of the story-- save your time and money and find another locksmith, unless you want the same project to be done twice. Or if you don't know how to fix something, then just say that. read more

I called Nova Locksmith today desperate to get a new lock for my son's house. I panicked after searching everywhere for the key and immediately went online and found Nova Locksmith. I requested a quote from several Yelp-reviewed vendors, and Alex was among the first to respond. It didn't take much for him to quote me a fee for what I needed for my work changing out the lock. Alex was efficient when he arrived and very professional in terms of letting me know when he would be on the site. While working, he showed genuine interest in the matters at hand. Anybody can do the work and sell, but it takes a very special person to show that they care and really mean it at the same time. Reading his profile, him being the second generation of locksmith that his father started, left me thinking that Alex was trained, and groomed very well. I know his father must be very proud of him. :) Job well done, Alex. Thank you! read more

Arrived in 10 minutes after being called at 10pm on July 4. We were charged $354 to get us back in our apartment after we locked ourselves out. Entire job took under 10 minutes. If you need a locksmith, look no further! Alex @ Nova Locksmith is the person you're looking for! What a lot of people don't know, is that if you call any of the first 10 numbers on Google for locksmiths, you're calling a 3rd party call center that will dispatch a locksmith by your number along to a bunch of companies and then for an hour straight a bunch of different locksmiths will call you non stop! They'll also lie about their ETA and keep you waiting. I didn't know this was an issue in SF, but after some research I realized I wasn't alone. So once I found Nova on yelp, I requested a quote online and Alex called me back quickly and not only showed up when he said he would, but also gave a direct number so I don't have to call a dispatcher to get through to him. My neighbor was locked out, and asked me to help her get back in. Happy to report, Alex showed up, helped her get in, and charged a very reasonable amount. read more

I purchased a new home and needed several locks rekeyed ASAP. I contacted Alex at 2:00 PM, and he responded to my inquiry in less than 30 minutes! I needed him to complete the job the same day and within a few hours. Alex was able to accommodate me. He even arrived at the house a bit earlier than he estimated, which was great! The most important door was the front, but I had no idea that the door and the lock were over 100 years old and would need specialized repair, including $700-900 of carpentry work. That is until Alex explained it all to me! He was able to rekey the lock and save me hundreds of dollars. He also skillfully rekeyed two other doors and installed a new door knob/lock on another. All of this work, expertise, and advice cost less than $400. And Alex is friendly, kind, and a great conversationalist. After leaving the house, I realized that there was another door I needed rekeyed. Guess who I'll be calling to come back and complete the job? You guessed it. Alex! I highly recommend Alex for all of your locksmithing needs. read more
