(*if NotebookShop.com can help you) I went to the shop because I had an HP Spectre with a bloated battery that I wanted to take out, so I can use it plugged in (it'd been sitting on my desk unused for a year), but had ONE stubborn, stripped screw in the corner that I wasn't able to remove (tried multiple methods), and didn't want to do anything that might cause damage to the device. So - I was sent here by Lenovo for my under-warranty Thinkpad. My 'Yoga' needed a new system board. I met Steve Ahn, Sales Manager there. He advised it would take him several days to get the part in so I called Lenovo back to change this to an on-site call (this notebook as on-site service - but I was hoping Notebookshop would have the part in-stock). After speaking with Lenovo, and changing the service ticket, I was about to walk out - but before I walked out - Steve offered to have a look and see what he could do (it was diagnosed by Lenovo as needing a new system board). Steve re-seeded the battery - took perhaps a total of 5 minutes - and the notebook was good to go! So - what's absolutely awesome about this is that Steve did NOT have to do this - did NOT have to have a look - as it was on his own time. What's better than that? When my new laptop died after being 2 months out of warranty, Dell Support quoted $39 to diagnose (plus more to repair). As a last resort before shipping it over, I called the Notebook Shop. The gentleman who picked up the phone was pleasant & asked to bring it over whenever I can.., So I went and one of the service reps ("DK", I think is his name) took it to the back, to check. Less than 10 minutes later, he had it working!!! He declined to charge me anything, and upon insisting, he noted "you can write us a review if you like". Needless to say, they earned my trust and loyalty. They will be my go-to place, when I need to buy a laptop for my son when the schools reopen this year. i've never used a laptop repair shop for my Lenovo flex book. I ended up spending about $100 with installation for a battery. If you want to do a diagnostic it will take at least 24 hours, but it's for free! this is an interesting shopping center with the Dollar tree and bakery next to it. The only issue was that I paid for the battery over the phone And they didn't let me know when they received the battery. I had to coordinate on my own. read more

My Lenovo ThinkPad's hard drive was indicating that it was failing. I brought it to the Notebook Shop and the initial diagnostics indicated that the drive was dead and that they would have to replace it. A few hours later they called and said that they opened the laptop and it was just a loose component. They tested the ThinkPad and everything was working well. They could have sold me a new drive but didn't. They are a very reliable and honest service company. read more

This review is WAY overdue! I came here over 6 mons ago to have them xfer data from my hard drive to my new Dell. Steve, who helped me, literally xferred everything over! After taking it home, I realized all my iPhone (HEIC) pix/videos were unviewable on my new Dell (even though it was viewable on my old Dell). So had to take it back. Steve, figured it out and downloaded a conversion app and did not charge extra for the extra time he had to spend researching and setting it up. I appreciate Steve's (and the others that work there) attitudes, service, and knowledge AND their prices are great! I highly recommend Steve and this store. I have come to the Cerritos store to both buy and have notebooks repaired. Prices are reasonable and work is great. Their customer service is right at the top. The same can be said of the LA store. If it wasn't for the traffic down in LA I would consider going down there, although the Cerritos store is about 30 minutes down the road with traffic. On this recent episode, my hard drive crashed. I had to have it replaced and my data recovered. I replaced my old hard drive with a solid state drive and the total cost of everything including recovery is $300. I put in the 480 SS Drive. They were able to do it all in about 40 minutes, saving me another trip down there through traffic. Might have to upgrade my other laptop's hard drive to SS, before it crashes. Might even look into WiDi to bypass the HDMI cord to my TV. read more

I came in to see how much it would cost for them to fix the internal microphone on my Asus laptop. Even though they knew right off the bat that they couldn't order my parts because it's an Asus, they still took the time to troubleshoot my computer and make sure the issue was mechanical. They then told me that it was best to just get an external mic, essentially saving me $120 according to the quotes other places gave me without the helpful hint. I really appreciate the professionalism and advice they gave me and recommend them for anyone who wants a solution to your computer problem. read more

He provided me estimates in the same day, broke down each pricing , and gave me his personal opinion as well. I did not end up fixing my laptop because the costs were too high and it was better for me to purchase a new computer instead. The man helping me (should've asked his name), was super nice and helpful even though my usb infected his computer while he helped me. In less than an hour my files were saved and all was well again! Today we stopped in at the Note Book Shop in Cerritos California to diagnosis the problem with our Dell Laptop. That's when we met one of the owners named Daniel. We were in the store less than a minute when he began to put his professional customer service skills on full display. When the appropriate pause arrived during his interaction with the previous customer, he advised he be with us shortly. True to his word he began to serve my other half and I just a few minutes later. As I began to explain our reasons for the visit he gave us several options to determine the best route long term. Daniel was clear and confident in disseminating the data gathered from his 20 years of computer/IT expertise. I know his information to be correct because I have also dabbled in the field of laptops and IT during my professional career. In addition, he was able to diagnose our problem quickly at no charge. He was very amicable and even threw in additional laptop accessories at no cost! We were probably there for maybe 15-20 minutes before Daniel had solved all of our concerns with a smile and efficiency. My wife and I are also business owners, and it feels good to know we finally found a local (Cerritos, CA) business that provides great products & services at an affordable price, and not raking people over the coals. After a horrible experience with another Lenovo repair shop in LA, I am so happy to have found this place. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and truly take ownership of their work! I brought my Lenovo all-in-one computer in and they were able to recognize the issue right away within a matter of minutes and order the part for me. Yesterday I went into the shop asking for help to install an anti-virus for my PC which I purchased there a few years ago. To my surprise, Jim said I dIdn't need to have one installed because Windows includes one already. He said the less I put on my computer, the better it is in the long run. He removed the McAfee pop-up program that kept showing up as a reminder and allowed me to take my computer home right then and there. I didn't need to leave the computer there at all! I went there to give my 8 yrs old laptop a deep clean since it's been overheated and sometimes my laptop just randomly freezes. I know the issue is 90% because of overheating so I didn't ask for any diagnostics. I am not sure if this is a fair price, I spent 75 dollars for the deep cleaning. After 3 hrs I got a clean laptop with silicon pads reapplied, and all the manufactured drivers up-to-date. At least I got my issues fixed and I can continue working. read more

This is a review for the service department.... I bought a Sony Vaio laptop right before I entered grad school in 2009. So of course by technology standards my computer is already considered ancient. Usually my go-to geek-IT-brainy-computer guy is my brother. However since he is in NorCal and I'm in SoCal I usually am on the phone asking for him to walk me through stuff. Earlier this week I opened my laptop and there was a green vertical line down the screen and the graphics were distorted pink. First call was to my brother and he listed all kinds of things that could be the problem (ribbon, drivers, video card something about it being on board or something...yada yada..other geekspeak I'm clueless about it).. Basically he said I was SOL but to try and get it to a professional... I am weirdly vigilant about backing my stuff up so I wasn't too worried about data. I looked through Yelp and made some calls. Some guys seemed to be operating out of their mom's house or something. Just by sheer luck I stumbled on Notebook Shop and decided to give it a go. I brought my computer in and they were nice enough to waive the diagnostic fee. Without looking the gentleman in the Service Dept thought it was the screen. He couldn't say anything for sure but would have to get back to me that day or the next day. I took only one star off because Initially I was the one to place the followup call late in the afternoon the following day. Not the world's biggest deal but I felt like my computer was kind of forgotten about due to miscommunication when someone went home sick. However, no harm, no foul. Michael called me back and explained when he tried to recreate the problem,...somehow it resolved itself. He easily could've scammed me and said some mumbo jumbo and charged me but was honest so...the star i took off I put back on. Michael explained (in layman terms without making me feel like a moron) some other issues with my computer that I should probably look into fairly soon but never pressured me to use their services. He said to try and get my brother to help me but if all else fails then to give them a call. I will definitely be referring the service department at Notebook Shop to my friends. As a teacher on spring break I'm happy to have computer back to write this review and so I get on with my lesson planning. :) read more

This place was amazing. I had a terrible accident with my beloved Toshiba Satellite (the hook on the bathroom stall broke at an airport and my backpack fell to the hard tile ground and the CD/DVD drive got damaged and the corner got a fender bender ::sniff::) but when I called Toshiba they informed me that I had purchased every single type of insurance except the kind I needed to get it repaired. Figures, huh? So they advised me to find a local Toshiba authorized repair place to get it fixed. I decided I would try to open it up (I used to work on Dell laptops all the time) and take a look for myself but after reading a few web sites on how to open it up I decided it would be best to pay someone because a few people had problems putting it back together and I didn't want to have to deal with that. Being the computer girl that I am, I called a number of places and didn't feel comfortable based on my conversations with their technical support. When I called NotebookShop.com, I immediately felt that the tech support person knew what he was talking about. I took it down there that day and they looked at my laptop and told me they would look at it and get back to me the next day. True to their word, they called me the next day and let me know they were able to re-seat the drive and that everything else looked good. I was really happy to hear that but also wanted the fender bendered portion repaired so they said it would take a few days for that part to get in. Anyways, the part came in and I went to pick it up and they said they managed to get it all covered by the Toshiba warranty so I only had to pay for the replacement piece which cost $99.
