Last night my computer froze, and I had to do a hard shut down. Then it wouldn't turn on. The screen stayed black, and I could hear some noise coming from the innards of the laptop, but nothing happened. My laptop is a Lenovo purchased in 2007. It's old, but I love that workhorse. I thought it was dead. After spending hours yelping computer repair and data recovery places, and also googling how to retrieve data from a dead computer, I decided to go to Jose. I picked him over 3 other top-rated contenders for one reason and one reason only: he opened at 8:00 am on a Saturday. LOL. About 6 months ago I was recording some music for a band and the day before our last recording session the fan on my macbook gave out, causing some overheating issues... Luckily I found rescue tech and he fixed my laptop within 15 mins. The second time I called rescue tech I had some designs I needed to submit by the end of the night (procrastination :) ) but my macbook suddenly stopped responding after plugging in an after market USB cable ( don't plug cheap cables into your nice MacBooks). Wow! What a great experience with Jose and RescueTech! I had a laptop that stopped working and needed someone to take a look at it and to possibly repair it if needed. I needed the laptop to be looked at quickly, and to have files removed if needed. Searching for a company that could accommodate my needs, I checked online and came across many companies. One of the companies, I came across was RescueTech. I called the company and Jose answered the phone. From the first time I talked to him on the phone, he was very friendly and asked questions to see if he could help troubleshoot the issues I was having with my computer. When it was determined that he could not pinpoint the exact cause of the issue (since there could be many different reasons and he would have to physically look at the computer to find out why), he asked if I could bring my computer to his place and he would take a look at my computer, free of charge. When I met Jose in person, he was very friendly and personable. Right away, he went to work on checking out my computer. The review on my computer took several minutes, and after he was done looking at my computer, he informed me that the motherboard was the reason why my computer was not working. He mentioned what the issue was, and gave his honest suggestions and recommendations. Jose was very open, very honest, and very helpful. I did not feel pressured from him to have any work done by him at all, and not once did I feel like he was trying to sell me something. One thing Jose mentioned on the phone when I first called, was that working with him would be like bringing your computer to a friend to look at, and in all honesty, talking to him and having him look at my computer, was really like he had mentioned. It really was like talking and bringing a computer to a friend to look at. Jose was really a great pleasure to work with and appreciate all the work and help he provided while checking out my computer. He even called and texted the very next day to make sure everything was working well and that I got all the files that I needed from my computer! Talk about great service! Jose fixed our computer. The backlight on our Acer laptop had finally died after going out intermittently for the previous few months (yes, we should have taken it sooner). We took a trip down to Staples, where they told us the problem was our motherboard and would cost us $300 to fix. $300... Moreover, they did no diagnosis on the laptop; we had left it there for at least two days and they waited til we came in to begin and give us an (un)educated guess. They also charged us $64 for this impeccable service. No damn way that they would have us replace or repair our laptop for that price and not even give us certainty of the problem! We decided Staples was full of bull and went down to RescueTech; Jose did a REAL diagnosis on our computer. A few hours (not days) after we left his house, he called me and told me the problem was our LCD. Well, he was right and he charged us $120 for the LCD order and the repair. I'm typing on it right now and the issue has not come back (after more than 4 weeks). He got our laptop back to us within 7 business days and in great condition. I should have written this a few months ago, but better late than never. My pc had a virus. I went to Geek Squad for repair. They wanted me to sign up for some annual membership of $200 . They said it would take up to 5 days to complete job Ridiculous! In the parking lot I got Jose's number from Yelp. I called , told him the problem. He new exactly what was wrong, unlike Ms. Clueless at Best Buy. He told me how to fix it. I told him I was in a parking lot, could I call him when I got home, yes. So I'm updating a review because i came back to Jose to repair my laptop again and this was my experience with him. So the same problem happened the last time i left my laptop with Jose(Broken AC Adapter on my laptop). I decided not to take it to him because he had already repaired it and the repair only lasted about 2-3 months, he told me he soldered it so i know what happened. I wanted the part replaced now, so i went with my local laptop store(Notebookshop.com). They repaired it in 1 week 1/2 and i went on my way until finally one night the ac adapter BROKE, I got so mad at myself and I didn't have 150 dollars(quoted by notebookshop last repair) to go and get it fixed so I called Jose and told him to repair it, he decided to replace the part and he charged me 90 dollars less than that shop. Jose took awhile to repair my laptop due to an Ebay Seller sending him the wrong part(Ironic, just keep reading why) so instead of taking 1 week it took 3 weeks and he finally replaced the part, i got fishy and all but the guy lives with his wife and kids you think he's going to be stupid to steal a laptop and or f$ck you over. Anyways finally I pick up my laptop and we do the transaction 65$ for the repair (included the part, GREAT DEAL NO?). Jose informs me that the last person who repaired my laptop never changed the part, instead he tells me they fixed it with glue. I was so infuriated by my discovery but Jose told me what to do, to try to get a refund and I went on my way, got home and he had installed goodies to my laptop and had told me to do a defrag(this guy goes the extra mile). Finally i visit the Notebookshop.com factory by my house and seriously tell them everything Jose told me about his findings, the shop tried to rub it off making lame excuses but finally they refunded me 100 dollars out of the 150 and i walked away a happy man. The ironic thing about the part is that the shops excuse was that they got the wrong part (Like Jose) so instead they soldered it and glued the part...... WTF??!??!?!? Jose works from his house and he did 3 times the better job those guys did that work for a big company.... The lady with the last review was really impatient or something, she has made false accusations. Jose works from his house he has a wife and is about to have a kid(chit chat after he repaired my laptop the 2nd time) you seriously thing a guy will rip you off when you know where he lives? He's honest with his work and honestly he made me wait long but it's excusable and he got the job done right. This review is long overdue. 4 years ago I was working for a project management firm and one of our office personnel plugged a high current power supply into the external drive back up system. The drive started smoking and shut off. I found Jose via Craigslist before he became RescueTech. At that time, he was unable to recover the fried hard drive, so I gave up on the drive and it's important data it held. One year later, Jose surprises me with an email stating that the drive data was recovered and ready. Prior to Jose, I was quoted on average $1000-$3000 to recover the data in a special lab. I was billed only two hundred! I'm not sure of Jose's rates now but he was very honest and I feel anyone that is honest and only bills for something he can fix, is someone that deserves a 5 star review so people know where to go. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS "Repair man" My laptop was experiencing symptoms of a virus so I called this person to fix my laptop he had originally told me the problem and that it would take $40 to fix and it would be fixed soon. I trusted this person with my laptop weeks before I stared my fall semester in college and each time I would ask about any progress he gave me some sort of excuse such as "family drama" or "it fell thru the cracks". Clearly my laptop and his business isn't his priority he claimed it would be ready "tomorrow" and so on.. but that was not the case I'm already halfway into my school semester and I just had to pick it up 4 months of him having custody of my computer and he didn't fix anything instead he gave it back to me in a worse condition than I gave it to him with more problems and all of the labels stripped off which was unnecessary. I also had to remind him I brought it in with a case since he just gave me back the laptop and charger he was obviously trying to steal my laptop's case. This whole experience was ridiculous, unproductive, and highly unprofessional. This person had my laptop for more than 4 months and NOTHING WAS FIXED during that whole time! PLEASE AVOID what I went through and go to a professional place or person this gimmick will harm your computer to try and milk more money out of you he is not to be trusted and will steal your accessories!! read more

To give you an idea of ineptness some computer repair people can suffer from, I'll first include a horror story: The first guy I went to (not Jose from RescueTech) was the one closest to me. He informed me he would give me the details of the diagnostic later that day and see what we can do. Three days later, this punk finally gets back to me. He tells me that it might be the hard drive. I promptly explain to him why it can't be the hdd and I seem to convince him. Yipee. Glad I can teach you something you sob... He then suddenly confirms that it's not the hdd, but it might be "viruses" on the hdd. And that these "viruses" are responsible. He tells me that for a mere $100 he can get rid of them, though he's not completely sure that will fix it. I can't stop laughing at this point. No thanks bro, I doubt it's that. In an attempt to save face after his half-assed salesmanship, he stumbles over to his diagnostic sheet and noted that the "motherboard" was hot. No way really? Tell me more my dear sage! And here I thought magical faeries had invaded my laptop and paralyzed it with their dreaded pixie dust. I'm so glad its merely the motherboard. What do I owe you, chief? He let out the most insecure diagnosis I had ever seen. With a timid gaze he tells me that he can replace the motherboard for a brisk $300. Really? I stare at him and this mofo shrugs!!! I had had enough. I put away my laptop and contacted the next person on my list, Jose from RescueTech. We make an appointment later that day. When I arrive, Mr. Jose, like a true gentleman, sees how parched I am and offers me a cool drink! He then starts the diagnostic right in front of me! He goes over step by step what he's doing while listening to my concerns. Immediately he rules out that it's hardware. Just to make sure, he checks his references to confirm. A true champion, I must say. Then with the confidence of James Bond on the prowl for hot babes, he assures me he can fix the problem. With a huge sigh of relief, I vacate the premises. I feel I must do this before I impulsively ask this fine young gent to marry me and bear my children. During that week, Jose texted me daily upates and soon enough he had salvaged all my data and got my system working again! :D I reach into my wallet to give him what I presume to be hundreds of dollars. Instead I meet a smile that would make any man question his sexuality. To my surprise, he takes only a small fraction of the cash i grabbed and says that this is fine. At this point I'm trying to arrange a marriage between him and my sister, but he insists he's spoken for. Aww fiddlesticks =[ To summarize: Jose is a very talented computer technician. I'd like to start off by saying none of the reviews I read about Jose were exaggerated in any way. I was able to schedule an appointment with him and even receive my laptop the very same day. Quite fast considering the work he had to do. On top of that, it was affordable. Jose is a great person to do business with. Had problem with my tower communicating with my monitor, so I couldn't get online. Went on Yelp and found Rescue Tech. Jose had his hands full, but said he'd call back, which he did and gave me the info to try and fix it myself. When that didn't work, he worked on my computer at his shop and fixed the problem. Turns out it was my monitor that wasn't working so Jose gave me another monitor (a digital one which is bigger and clearer than my old analog one) and he cleaned out all the junk on my computer which helped speed it up. My incident happened about a month ago. I brought my laptop to Jose because numerous pixels on my screen had died. It was still under warranty and he told me the cheapest thing to do was to send it to the manufacturer to fix it. I insisted he fix it because I didn't want to ship out my laptop a long distance. He accepted. But instead of fixing it himself, he gave a call to the manufacturer stating the problem. He then called me back and said he would ship it out for me and they would fix the problem for free. I would just have to pay for his time of shipping it out. I agreed...
