Nostos has raised the standard for Greek food! This is truly a gem in the McLean area, with a lovely interior and a family feel. The food was outstanding -- fresh flavors, unpretentious. I really liked the octopus - it was juicy and a great portion size. The dips were also amazing, particularly the taramosalata (fish roe).

Big fan of this place-- believe I saw a picture of Obama on the wall so the expectation was alr high. The octopus and the three dips are a must! The seafood orzo and Greek salad were also very refreshing-- I like this spot and it's a nice little date spot. Cheers!

Nostos -- A Contemporary Greek Table With Confident Comforts From the first bite to the final sweet finish, the meal at Nostos felt like a gentle journey through modern-style Greek comfort food -- with enough variety to satisfy a broad appetite, and enough character to make me want to come back for more. Haloumi Skaras -- the grilled cheese arrived simply plated, yet the haloumi's salty-milky richness and gentle char lent it real presence. Each bite offered a pleasant chew and a savory depth that served as a confident opening note, satisfying in its humble elegance. Dolmadakia Yialantzi -- grape leaves wrapped around seasoned rice and herbs, paired with that cooling yogurt sauce. The tang of the yogurt set off the subtle herbaceousness of the dolmades beautifully; the roll felt light yet comforting, with the yogurt adding a welcomed creamy contrast. Kolokithakia -- crisp-thin zucchini slices, likewise dressed with yogurt sauce, delivered a delicate crunch and fresh vegetal brightness. The zucchini's crispness was a nice foil for the creamy yogurt, and the interplay left a clean, lightly herbal aftertaste I found very agreeable. Arni Youvetsi -- a dramatic presentation: lamb shank atop orzo, bathed in tomato-wine sauce. Visually, it made an impression -- rustic yet refined. Flavor-wise, it was on the gentler side: the lamb's natural heft was there, but the seasoning seemed restrained. Still, the dish carried a comforting warmth and a homey gravitas, making it a wholesome, if slightly understated, main course. The preparation reflects the traditional concept of Youvetsi -- meat and orzo simmered and baked in tomato sauce. Mousaka -- layers of eggplant, seasoned meat, and béchamel stacked together into a classic. It delivered nicely: the eggplant softened without becoming mushy, the meat filling brought savory weight, and the béchamel added creamy cohesion. The textures layered well, and the overall effect was warm, satisfying, and familiar -- a dependable rendition of a Greek stalwart. Youvetsi Thalassinon -- and here is the standout: seafood (shrimp, calamari, mussels, perhaps more) simmered in tomato sauce over orzo. The flavors had a vibrancy and richness reminiscent of a hearty American-style seafood stew, yet with Mediterranean lightness. The sauce was robust; the seafood tender; the orzo soaked up the juices just right. This dish deserves "two thumbs up." Traditional Baklava -- a sweet and syrupy finale: layers of flaky phyllo, walnut, honey and cinnamon that leaned unabashedly into decadence. For anyone with a sweet tooth, it's pure comfort. The sweetness is generous -- bordering on indulgent -- but beautifully balanced by the crisp pastry and nutty filling. Overall Impression The meal at Nostos possesses a friendly coherence: from grilled cheese to seafood stew to sweet dessert, the pacing and selection felt thoughtfully varied. Some dishes (like the Arni Youvetsi) are subtle and could carry a bit more seasoning, but others -- especially the seafood orzo and zucchini or dolmades with yogurt -- sing with flavor and balance. I would happily return to explore more of their seafood offerings, confident that there are hidden gems still to discover.

Service was lovely and food was good! The potatoes were surprisingly good and moist. Calamari is always a go to. The spinach and feta app was flavorful as well

An imported Greek IPA! Very good! A total surprise as I didn't know this style of beer was even produced in Greece.

I made a reservation online and when we arrived we were promptly seated, and served in a very open and clean and slightly romantic setting. Our waiter was very attentive and was very good at describing the specials for that day and various options we could take when ordering. We couldn't make up our minds on this first visit to the restaurant so through his recommendations we ordered the vegetarian small plate selection and the small sized portion of the varied meat selection. We also ordered a few drinks and dessert. All in all, it was a very good experience for us because of the food, service and ambiance. We will definitely come back again soon.

Upscale Greek restaurant, with décor is reminiscent of Greece, that is located in the bottom floor of an office building The food here is great, but it is incredibly loud because all of the tables are shoved into one tiny room. My GF and I felt like we had to yell to be able to hear one another. It seemed like it was a little quieter in the bar area however.

Near perfect. Good restaurant for those who eat GF because they label many menu items GF. Bronzino fish entree seems very popular. Server offered to debone it at the tableside. It was SO moist and delicious. Served with roast potatoes and what i believe was swiss chard (i'd never eaten that and im glad i did). I enjoyed the dolmades starter with tzatziki. Service impeccable although our server was more professional than friendly. I would dine here again and order the bronzino again.

Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was excellent! The ambiance is clean, white and peaceful. I never even knew this place existed in the middle of busy Tyson's area. The staff gave wonderful suggestions including the grilled octopus which was super tender. Salad was fresh and delicious. Portions are small so order a few to share (which is what we did for a small party) They have enough parking around the building and even a small party room. Great spot and can't wait to be back!

Went for dinner on a friday night. The place was crowded, and with good reason. Very good food, good service. The octopus is excellent.

Great food, great service, great ambiance. Can't ask for more, but the tables were too close together so the small room got a bit loud.

This is THE best Greek restaurant in the area! I can't get enough of the manouri salad, feta saganaki, mousaka and spanakopita.

Service was excellent. Food was good but not too many choices being a vegetarian. We ordered bunch of mezza. red house wine is best.

We ordered: - the honeydew mocktail (this was so good, I haven't had a mocktail that I enjoyed so much in a long time now) - the assortment of dips (delicious and paired so well with the bread) - a side of toum (this is an essential for me at any restaurant) - the ottoman rice (my family's favorite) - brussel sprouts - cauliflower (our server's favorite) - Adana kepab - the small lamb shoulder dish (really good) - branzino (sooo good and cooked perfectly) - pistachio soufflé (like a chocolate lava cake but with pistachio inside--soooo fab) We absolutely loved everything that we ordered and the bread that they served the food with. The service was so attentive. The vibes were really nice and not overly fancy. My family and I thought it was one of the best Turkish/middle eastern meals we've had in a while (and we thought this was much better than Zaytinya). Overall I cannot wait to return.

I got the Thyme to Bloom and it was good! We got the Mucver, Hummus, and Grilled Chicken. The Mucver texture wasn't my favorite but the sauce it came out with was yummy. Hummus and grilled chicken were good- not the best I've had but decent. The vibe was nice and I liked the decor. I'd come back to try their happy hour!

I heard a lot about ShamShiry before going for an early dinner with a friend. The first thing one…read morenotices is the absolutely excellent service--friendly, quick, and professional. Second, the portions of absolutely authentic Persian food are HUGE. Hummus may not sound exciting, but it's the best around. And the saffron ice cream for desert was out of this world. I can't wait to go back.

My sister had recommended this spot to me because she knew I enjoyed Persian kebab, and when I had…read morea chance to be near today I stopped in. First, I didn't realize it was a sit down and order restaurant, I was used to short order. I was quickly seared and within a couple minutes one server had brought me water as well as fresh tandoori bread and a delicious spicy green sauce to go with it. A second server appeared quickly to take my order. I explained I was used to short order, and all I wanted was their version of chicken and steak (not ground beef.) The waiter explained how he'd do the combo on the menu and off he went. Having looked at the menu, I feared this might be an expensive option, and it was. But a few minutes later I was presented with a platter of delicious looking steak, chicken, rice, onions, tomato, and event a char-roasted jalapeño. It was enough food for my wife and I have had for dinner between us, so the price was well justified. Every thing was delicious. At the end of the meal, I asked if I could order another tandoori bread, and get a small to-go container of the green spicy spread to bring home for wife to try. They brought me both a generous helping of bread and the sauce, and charged me for neither. This service, combined with a delicious meal that, while expensive, will end up being three meals, means this is definitely a spot I plan to go back to as well as recommend.
