ORIGINAL POST: Epic Hot Tubs was an Epic Fail. Check the comments on their company on the Better Business Bureau website. It cost us 5 months, hundreds in legal fees, and tons of stress and coordination. They didn't deliver until we threatened a lawsuit. It was only supposed to take a few weeks, but it ook months. Jack Pyles was great until we paid our deposit. He went from telling us that installation would be "no problem" and they would "help coordinate" installation even with our sloped yard... to telling us it was our fault and on us that there were no viable ways to install the swimspa after spending tens of thousands of dollars. He never proactively communicated what was going on - only unhelpful and rude answers when we asked questions. He never even told us that the swimspa got delayed several weeks from the manufacturer to their warehouse. He told his boss that he had given us options but every option he gave us was untenable. For example, he told us to call forklift companies but none of them had operators and we couldn't find anyone that could help. It wasn't until we involved our lawyer and threatened a suit that they finally gave us a way to deliver the swimspa. The entire experience was stressful and unprofessional. Jack was especially rude.

I got a reminder from Zara electric that I had a $100 credit. I needed a socket changed out in a light fixture in the bathroom and decided, with $100 credit, I would let Zara electric do it rather than doing it myself. I told them the socket was loose and they sent a man out. He told me there was a diagnostic charge. I told him that I already knew what was wrong and I just needed him to please fix it. My mistake... I assumed since I had a $100 credit that I'd probably be charged an additional $75 or so to fix the socket. He charged me over $400 and said that was taking the hundred dollars off. In other words, a couple hundred for a diagnostic fee and a couple hundred to fix the problem. Before he fixed it, he said I just to sign some papers to give authorization to fix it and I stupidly did not read the papers. I paid them and I will never use them again nor will I recommend them to anybody. The pricing is totally out of this world and if you use them, make sure you check to see what their diagnostic fee is and make sure that they don't charge you that fee in addition to a high repair fee which is what happened to me. The socket I needed repaired for a stuck lightbulb. I did it myself.!!!

Companies of all different sizes, and although each was independently unique, the same stipulations applied, pool /spa installs were at least 12 months out and getting someone to sit down for a consult was around a month out. It was becoming very frustrating. We stumbled across Backyard Leisure and decided to give them a try. Don't judge the company by the area in which their Raleigh office is located, these guys are legit. Aaron Garner actually sat down with us on the spot and provided us with the information we were seeking. He answered all of our questions and provided us with much needed insight to help us plan our next move. On top of all that, the anticipated install was less than 12 months out. Aaron clearly knew what he was talking about and also helped us realize the best approach to our inground spa needs. Our pool install came first, Aaron was there throughout the entire process; he was more of a partner than a salesman and still is. They have some true talent working for them and with Alberto leading the pool install, he gained my trust and confidence within an hour of him being onsite the entire. He is an expert in his field. Our spa install came in second and again Aaron was there to ensure a smooth install. The highly skilled install team handled everything, they are extremely professional! They went out of their way to assess the work already by the very subpar concrete company and rectified immediate concerns.
