Love eating here. Great food at good prices and one of the few restaurants in Berkeley with a parking lot

Just a few words: I love it. Easy to park, and great service. The Pizza was fantastic, and I love the Gnochi. The large pizza is larger than average, and specialty pizzas are tasty. I am still contemplating initiating a charge back. From what I've been told by friends this spot was decent. I guess that applies solely to the pizza's. I ordered their Fettuccine Chicken Dinner and some fries on the side just to try and honestly, I would have rather ate at Mc Donald's. I paid $17 for pasta served in a metal tin about 8x5 inches and was highly disappointed. Not only was their NO chicken to be seen, someone sure took their time making sure everything looked pretty but their was no flavor whatsoever. The fries were also served in a similar container except were inedible, on the overcooked side. $17 for the Pasta, $5 for the fries and with tax, a mypizza.com delivery fee, and a nice tip $29 went to waste. read more

Second time here and order my pizza. They told 25mins. Waited 40mins and still didn't have my pizza ready. So they gave me one that I over heard the cooks say "should we give it out it's burnt". I didn't want to make a big deal about it but! This is the second time they do this. I like the pizza it's ok not the greatest. I was on my lunch break so I took the semi-burnt pizza that was not what I ordered. I had no choice I was in my lunch break. Bad takeout service. read more

As we approached the restaurant, I realized would need the bathroom immediately. We were told as we entered we we have to order first. I made my choice, the waiter still had not arrived. I asked my friend to order for me and ran next door to see if I could use their toilet ["broken"], when I returned, the order still had not been taken and I couldn't wait any longer, There was a line for the women's so I used the men's. Once relieved, we were told they would not serve us because we had been "disrespectful". Sorry. I can't say anything about the food. read more

Lets start with service. My order was taken and the food delivered. That was all there was. Not until I went to the register did I see the waitress again. I order a three topping hand tossed pizza. The mozzarella had no browning on top and was an inedible glob of low quality chesse. The crust was soggy in the middle five inches. I ended up eating some of the crust with a few bits of the Italian sausage. Overall poor ingredients and poor service. read more

It may well be the worst pizza I ever ate. The crust was dense, soggy and undercooked. I needed a knife to cut through the thick layer of cheese. I took one bite and was out the door. read more

The pizza here was ok. Nothing spectacular. The salad was terrible, the lettuce and cucumbers looked like the had freezer burn or something of that sort on them. My fiancee tried the chicken cacciatore it was plain and tasted like a microwave dinner. But the only upside to the dish was the portion size (huge), with about half a chicken or so in it. I've been coming to North Beach since I was a child and it really is my favorite pizza place in Berkeley. The Pesto Pizza is bomb as a topping. If you sign up to get their emails you always get great deals as well. read more

Way too much cheese - the pizza is more like pizza flavored grease.

I ordered a pizza and some garlic bread for delivery - they told me it would take 45-60 minutes. It took them almost an hour and a half to deliver the food, and when it got here, it was cold. It's mediocre food that takes forever to get to you and arrives cold. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

Love the pizza. Had the worst service ever. The waitress must have forgotten our salad because we got our pizza first. However, we had no plates to eat it. We asked the other waitress not ours) who brought us our pizza about the salad, and, plates and she said that our waitress would be brining them out. She finally brought the plates and the salad. She never came by to fill our water glasses or anything else. When we were ready for the check it never came. So someone from our party went to the cashier to ask for the check. On our way out I let the cashier know that the service was terrible and he said oh, I'll keep and eye on her. He really did not seem interested in what I had to say. I think as much as it pains me I would not return to this NBP restaurant again. read more

North Beach Pizza has never had better than mediocre pizza. However, it delivers and is reasonably priced. Now, its delivery service has gone the way of its pizza. Like its pizza that is "Just a pizza," as Tefitt H. says, now its delivery takes an hour longer than promised. To quote Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that". read more

I've been here several times and pizza is not very good (but coming from New Haven I find most pizza here is rather poor). The pizza is very bland and the service is poor. But, they do offer decent prices on beer during happy hour. read more

North beach is delicious. I would recommend for lunch, dinner, any occasion. My favorite is their mushroom and sausage pizza. Also their Caesar salad is delicious, have a feet taste to it. I can say they are family/ kid friendly. My kids love their pizza. And their pasta is great too. read more

I think their pizza is a perfectly acceptable pizza for when you want a perfectly acceptable pizza at a fair price.

My daughter and son in law brought me here for the first time and asked me to just try your pizza. So I did they are so right it was good. I'm glad we order the big one I had taken the rest home and ate it the next day of course Yummy. read more

I'm a big fan of North Beach Pizza in San Francisco but I was at home in the East Bay one day and had a craving for a pizza so I go to this branch in Berkeley for the first time. The red flag to me should have been that at lunch time, there was only one other customer in the dining room, but I'm hungry so I take a table and order an anchovy, onion, and olive small pizza. Half an hour later, the waitress says the cook made a mistake and used "artichokes" instead of anchovies and was that "ok to leave on there and throw on some anchovies?" "Uh...well no" I said. So she offers to give me a cheese slice with my specified toppings because it will take a half an hour again to make the correct pizza. Since I'm hungry I accept this (but still have to pay for the slice). Two customers in the house...and they screw up my order. Don't think I'm coming back here. If you want some pizza while in this neighborhood, go up to Jupiter on Shattuck or get the thin slice at Zachary's if you don't want their deep dish. read more

I joined Yelp just so I could tell you how horrible this place is. Don't go. I was the only person in the pizzeria for lunch and it took over 30 minutes to get 8 hot wings. Now, that said, I'll wait for good food; I'll wait a long time. I held back my opinion until the food came. The wings were soggy, all wings no drums and tasted terrible...think of the bottom of a wet sneaker after riding BART or soggy like you had to eat someone's love handle to survive. I ordered a beer to wash it down. Bud in a bottle $5.00! -In addition, the place stinks, is grimy and looks like no one cares about the restaurant. It was the worst meal I've had so far in the Bay Area. I left and ate at the 711 across the street to clean out my mouth. Not Big Bear approved. read more

So for the past week I have been co-house sitting in the North Berkeley area with the excitement of trying new restaraunts and local lounges...And for the most part everything the area has been well received(even the 711 by the house I'm at...clean and the staff is friendly...who knew!) Anyways, I digress...Last night I had a friend make an order for a very boring small pizza with pepperoni. When we arrived, the atmosphere was a little dated, the place could use a good scrub and the staff definately knew two words of english...Putting THAT aside...The pizza was mediocre at best. The cheese of bland, the pepperoni was definately not fresh and the sauce left something to be desired. C'mon North Beach Pizza! If your going to have advertising outside that say,"Finally, North Beach Pizza had arrived!), please let this arrival be something tasty and satisfying,with something different then your local Pizza Hut...Still in search of great pizza in Berkeley until next monday! read more

I've eaten here a lot over the years, through a gazillon waitresses and several owners. I've had some good pizzas here, okay pasta and chicken parmigiana, and very good minestrone soup with fresh tasting vegetables. However, recently I ordered the half BBQ chicken dinner at $13.75. As I ate it, it kept reminding me of cooked food I've had in the freezer for too long -- dry, watery, freezer burn taste slathered in BBQ sauce. So I asked the waitress. She confirmed they bake their chicken part way, freeze it, then thaw it out and cook it some more when someone orders it. That's just how it tasted. Ick. The waitress offered to bring me another if I didn't like the taste of this one. But what good would that do, it would still be rewarmed frozen food, and taste just the same! No offer to make any other type of amend (comp the bad meal, discount it, offer a complimentary dessert, give a coupon for a return visit -- anything except offer more freezer burned food) -- just an, "I'm sorry." The neighborhood feeling was definitely missing. After I left the restaurant, I checked nearby restaurants I'd always thought were "pricey". I was surprised to discover their entrees cost less than what I typically pay at North Beach. So you know where I won't be returning to, as I explore new horizons. read more
