THE WORST SERVICE!!! Heading to the 49er game on a Sunday I call ahead to order a large pizza for tailgating. Lady takes my order no problem. I arrive at restaurant 30mins to find out they haven't even heated up their ovens!! Restaurant opened at 10am it's 11:20! You have been open for an hour and you haven't turned on your ovens!! Really!! Very disappointing. Would have been nice for her to tell us that it would take longer than 20mins! I love to talk about good restaurants but I'm so mad I had to yelp this!! Not even a sorry...more like an oh well!! We will not be going back!! Don't waste your time! read more

Cozy and clean environment. Friendly staff. And most importantly, delicious food. The service was fast and I love how they have their own private parking lot. Makes things so much easier when trying to eat at a nice restaurant without the inconvenience of circling around the block numerous times trying to find a parking spot. I definitely will be back! read more

Rarely can it be said that pizza literally saved my life, but in this case it's true, kind of. I was on my way home with a large pie when I was confronted by a kid with a knife looking for money. I dropped my pizza and ran screaming down university and when the hooligan tried to give chase he slipped on the pizza box, so perhaps in retrospect it was the pizza box literally saved my life...but still love the pizza (when I can get a slice.) read more

I've ordered delivery from these guys a couple times. Overall the food is pretty good, though a bit overpriced. They've gotten my order wrong twice though (out of 4 or 5). One time they forgot the salad, not a big deal. But the second time my 4 piece order of chicken strips was actually 3 chicken strips, but one was torn in half after going through the fryer -presumably to appear as 4 pieces. Hilarious, but not worth the money. read more

This place was unbelievable horrible. I came in to have the lunch special. There was only one other person besides me getting food. There was one waitress and one owner. It took them forever to get me my slice of pizza. It took them forever to get my drink. I got up myself to get napkins. The waitress only checked on me once, during the 30 minutes that I was there. It took them forever to get my check. If it wasn't for the pizza being ok, I would have thrown a chair through the window. Horrible service, horrible punctuality, no rapport with the customers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES. read more

NEVER AGAIN. I ordered delivery. Guy calls me when he gets here and I slide on my slippers to meet him by his car. After waiting outside, in the cold by the delivery man's car for 4 minutes, so that he could find a working pen, I sign the receipt and hand him back his pen, marker, and a pencil that was out of lead. Then he THROWS THE EMPTY PENCIL INTO MY BUSHES while I'm standing next to him. Are you kidding me? That's my damn yard. Directly littered on my property, right in front of me. So many things are wrong with this. I hate littering, and that's my property! I don't know if that soured my taste buds enough to make the food taste worse than it was, but I just threw out my "hot" wings and bowl of minestrone soup. I'm not a very picky eater (I like to think of myself as a human garbage disposal), but the "hot" wings tasted like the oil they were fried in and nothing more. Did they forget the sauce? It was bad. And the minestrone was a bad combo of oil, watered down frozen vegetables, and oregano. I hate throwing away food but this was bad. read more

Me and my friend love this pizza everytime we go we are seated immediately and we get are pizza fast we love this place.

Best pizza. Ordered earlier today and our pizza was delivered right on time! Wish I could take it with me on the plane tomorrow.

Ever since I discoved NBP while interning in San Francisco. NBP has been my go-to Pizza. Not too bready, great tasting sauce and size selections. I live in North Oakland and intentionally I make the trip to Berkeley for a NBP pizza to bring home. read more

Having previously lived very near the now defunct Upper Haight, San Francisco location of North Beach Pizza, I knew exactly what to order when I craved some late night pizza while visiting a friend in Berkeley: The Cable Car Special, featuring a creamy garlic sauce, chicken, bacon pieces, tomatoes, and green onions). Expecting a less stellar imitation due to being that much farther from the actual North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, I was pleasantly surprised to taste an equal if not superior pie! Thanks for serving such a heart-stoppingly delicious pizza, West Berkeley North Beach Pizza! Also, nice people working there when I stepped in to pick up my phoned-in order not long before closing. +10! read more

The pizza's, well.... pizza's a round, flat piece of dough, and has toppings, baked for a while. Sometimes it can be very good. Other times, like here, it's a bit forgettable. I give it 3 stars b/c the regular serving of Caesar Salad was humungous. And it's near Five Star Video, my fave video store. read more

Sauce was a bit runny at first. 20 min. between ordering to receipt of food. Friendly servers. Comment cards kept the kids entertained while we waited. Overall very happy with the pizza and the overall experience. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. read more

Omg! Garlic bread was AMAZING! I ordered a slice w/soda and extra toppings. Next time ill hold the extra toppings and just have the pizza as is. Crust is very tasty with awesome buttery taste & great texture. I'd say check this place out. read more

Shocking, all the bad reviews here! While the Caesar salad isn't anything too special (it's decent), we had a split of the San Francisco (clams) and the chicken/mushroom/pesto and it was pretty darn good. Friendly and attentive waitress, too. Man, I hadn't been to a NBP since having it years ago in the City, but it's just as good as I remember it. Granted, why eat here when there's Cheeseboard Pizza nearby...but NBP stays open way later. Maybe I just lucked out on a good night. read more

Great pizza... Always filling and the service is great. Good food and a great crowd is always a good combo. The cable car special is certainly worth trying. read more

This is one of my go to places when I'm visiting a friend who lives near here. One of the things I like best about this place is that it offers steamed vegetables, I've never been to a pizzeria that gives you healthy choice like that. Their food is very good and I have some go to favorites. Chef's Salad, but it has a an Italian twist as that it contains Mozzarella Cheese and Italian Salami. And might I add the mozzarella they top the salad with is DELICIOUS, I almost eat it all before the salad itself. Veggie Sub: the feta cheese and special sauce really bring out the taste in the veggies. Create your own Deep Dish Pizza: with the pizza they mix it up a bit pending on how many toppings you get. A nice example was this one time I got three toppings: olives, artichoke hearts, and zucchini. They topped the pizza with the olives and artichoke hearts, but put the zucchini inside the pizza. It changed the dynamics of the combination of cheese, sauce, and dough to having a juicer taste and texture. Best combination I ever had. And lastly is the Appetizer Sampler Platter, which has Hot or BBQ Wings, Calamari & Chicken Tenders. The wings are super juice no matter if you get the hot sauce or the bbq sauce. The calamari is also juice, with the right bread ratio. They also make their own sarsaparilla, which is amazing, but you can't order it online due to the fact that they don't have a way of delivering them. I hope someday they will figure out a way to, because when I do delivery I would love for them to bring one. As for their desserts...I love their chocolate cake. It is very rich, and very moist and the frosting on top is so thick that you have to let it melt in your mouth. I usually do take out over dining in. I've only dined in once and it kinda didn't go well, but I I think it was an off night for everyone. You can place orders on Grubhub or on their own personal site. However I also like going to to their page on Zonic Ordering, because then I can place my order ahead of time and schedule when I will come get it. Also, if you are doing any kind of party ordering (like ordering enough pizza to feed a room full of people for a game or something) you have to ask them, in person/on the phone, what kind of deals do they have. It's not really listed on their website. Price wise, I say they are pretty decent. Not a place you could go to on an everyday bases, but one you could go to at least once a week. read more

Delicious pizza, nice and fresh, lotsa great topping options and very friendly, nice service. And the personal size one is only $5.99 plus $1/topping, so it's a good deal. read more

Thanks Gustavo for reaching out. Pizza was great like always and on time this time. Very happy now with the service.

The pizza names are all San Francisco themed and very cute. I like that they have stuffed crust pizzas and that the place is very clean. They also have a parking lot which makes it easy to park. read more

Great pizza! I love Cheese. But restaurant is a little too family orientated for my tastes. Great for take out.

This is was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The took a long time to fuck my order up, then an even longer time to get it right. I didn't try the pizza, but the "BBQ" ribs were actually boiled then covered in shitty sauce. They were not edible. My fiance's chicken fettucine was barely edible but the red sauce was gross. These people should be embarrassed. I jut tried to give them no stars but I am forced to give them one if I want the review posted. read more

This town has better pizza to offer; this food isn't worth the incredibly long wait if you have it delivered.

The main reason I became a Yelper was to write my thoughts on North Beach Pizza Berkeley. I'm sick of most people talking smack about it. No it's not the original North Beach in North Beach but hey it captures the vital essence. The fresh gooey mozzarela melted over some very tasty sauce with a light fluffy crust. I ought to know I ate the original in North Beach 4-5 times a month for over 5 years. I was skeptic at 1st because of all the bad reviews on Yelp, but have since left that thought process behind. The food is delicious, service always friendly and the delivery is fast. Price is very reasonable. These were the 1st reviews I read on Yelp that were way too harsh. I believe it's simply because it's not quite the same as the original. North Beach pizzas vary on the ownership. This is one of the good ones. read more

We were craving for pizza but we wanted somewhere different from where we usually like to order. I remember we tried this place a long time ago but I couldn't remember how good it was so we gave it another try. It wasn't good and that's the reason why we never went back after so long. The guy at the cashier seems like he was in the bad mood and had no personality. I don't think I will forget how the pizza was this time. read more

This place is pretty good! The kids loved it and the parking is probably the best for a restaurant in a 5 mile radius. Good salads & desserts. Never too packed and always have good service here! read more

This place is great service great. I love the food. I oder to go food is hot and ready. Dine is service is great they treat you very well just found out about this little secret. read more

Their pizza is great. I'm sorry I don't eat pizza much any more. I get entrees once a month:chicken parm, or fettucine with clam sauce and until this week it was fine. This time chicken was dry, sauce was weak and like canned, and the bread was stale. I'm hoping it's just one shot mistake. I live around the corner from them and I'm 77 living alone. I've counted on NB for good Italian now and then. read more

I guess I am in the minority, but I like their pizza! The Coit Tower pizza is really good. Lots of cheese, and toppings. Maybe I just got lucky when I went. read more

While visiting the bay area for a football game, my son, nephew, and I stayed in Berkeley and this place was close to our hotel. Upon entering, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. My impression of the place was that it was clean. The north beach special pizza was delicious. I highly recommend ordering it stuffed crust style. Although the staff was very friendly, our waitress did not know what stuffed crust style pizza was when it is an available menu item. It took a long time for our order to come to our table, but once it arrived, we were in pizza heaven. If North Beach Pizza staff is more knowledgeable on their menu items and can cut back on their wait times, this place gets five stars. read more

We love this pizza. I love the Italian sausage pizza - thick crust of course - very cheesy and flavorful and my wife's favorite is the thin crust Margarita pizza - a lighter alternative with tons of flavor. We stick to the pizza because we love it. There are big tables for large groups. We don't usually have to wait for a table. We live in Contra Costa County and drive through the tunnel every couple of weeks because this is our favorite pizza. read more

Great parking! Convenient location. Had a north beach pizza and Verdi gnocchi. Very good. Would definitely recommend.

Where to start.... I absolutely love this place the environment the friendly staff and best of all the food!! I always make sure I come here when I'm in the Bay Area absolutely love the pizza and the old style root beer Totally recommend this place to anyone and everyone :) read more

I don't understand these reviews; don't sweat the small stuff because this is the best pizza in the entire East Bay.

My husband and I eat here often. We don't usually have their pizzas, but we adore their pastas: my favorite is spaghetti pesto, his is meat ravioli with meat sauce and meatballs. Their carbonara, a relatively recent addition, is also good, and not as rich as the carbonara in many places. They have a good variety of dishes beyond pasta and pizza, too, including a roast chicken plate that a friend of mine likes a lot, though the chicken has been a bit on the dry side when I've had it; another friend said that the whitefish was very poor, however. They also have a good Caesar salad and garlic-cheese bread. Their wine is nicely inexpensive (Salmon Creek, about $16 for a bottle) and very tasty. The restaurant is a popular family place, but it's not usually crowded or noisy. It has a nice big parking lot, too. The décor is basic. The staff, mostly young people working their way through nearby UC Berkeley I expect, are generally sweet, friendly, and helpful. Prices overall are very reasonable, with combo deals on Tuesdays and Thursdays in addition. Overall, this is a great place to go if you're in or near Berkeley and want great basic Italian food and a pleasant, unpretentious place to eat it in. read more

The service is really bad and is SOOOOO slow. Even if you order pick up, the food will probably not be ready... And on top of all that, it is not even good food. read more

Be careful ordering here if your zip code is 94608. They don't actually deliver to all areas with that zip code. That in itself wouldn't be so bad, but they didn't bother to call and let us know they won't deliver to our house until the pizza was supposed to arrive. What's worse is the argued with us saying that we lied about our zip code. We live on the Emeryville / Oakland border and yes in fact our zip is 94608. They lost a customer because of their terrible customer service and poor communication. They took over an hour to call us and let us know leaving no other options for ordering food elsewhere. Choices for going our were limited too since it was well after 10pm. Can't speak about the food because they left us hanging without dinner! read more

My wife and I were in Berkeley the other night and stopped in here. First of all, the place had a nice, comfortable vibe. The selection was quite good, many different types of pizza to choose from. The one we ordered was delicious, lots of meat and cheese cooked to perfection. The salads we ordered were also quite good and large. Definitely going to come back here. read more

An old-style pizzeria with a generally good product, and they deliver. I've been a customer for nearly 20 years, and my regular order is a medium pie and a humongous salad. It isn't the best, it isn't trendy, and it isn't the cheapest, but it's good, filling, and a pretty good value. Plus, they're open late! And did I mention that they deliver? read more

I really loved their stuffed pizza and it was a pretty good deal with groupon. The staff was friendly and courteous. It seemed like they were having fun too which I like to see. Something about unfriendly people at food joints makes me nervous. read more

Delivery pizza based on the hotel recommendation - pretty tasty veggie combo with artichokes as the special feature. Nice option for those that don't like sauce but not exactly a bargain. There may be better places on University Ave. in Berkeley but this will do in a pinch... read more
