Normally I love Norms. This location SUCKS. The manager that was working 3-23-25 at 11pm also SUCKS. You all better watch how you order your food! The server screwed up my friends order and they were asses about it and to make things worse, they charged her as separate items instead of as one of their MANY combos. Every diner I have ever been to, when it comes to figuring out what I wanted has always help to point out which combo would be best. Not this guy. When it was pointed out to them they played stupid and instead of doing the right thing they stuck to their guns. Well guess what, I will be happy to tell every single person I know NOT to come here and I'm going to try to contact corporate right after this. My family and I had dinner at Norms last night. Kristina was our server. She totally understood that I wanted my steak well done and it was, which is rare. I usually have to send it back. On Saturday, November 29, 2025, I placed an online order from Norms, and unfortunately this has become a pattern with my recent visits. Lately, every time I pick up food from this location, it has been cold, greasy, and just poorly prepared. Even the Pepsi bottles have been warm multiple times. Yesterday I ordered the mini dogs, and they didn't include the sauce that normally comes with it. The fries were cold, the Pepsi was warm again, and the burger patty did not taste fresh at all. Overall the meal was disappointing. I've gone to Norms for many years, and I even have family members who worked there when I was a kid. The quality has dropped badly. Customer service is not the same either--you see employees standing around talking while customers wait. The welcoming atmosphere that Norms used to have is gone. Before, they would greet you, seat you right away, and even online pickup orders were handled with care. Now employees look like they don't want to be there. What happened to Norms? I hope they bring back the quality and service that made them great for so many years. read more

Been comming to Norms for years. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. This is one of the best places to grab a good meal at a reasonable price. I can spend less than going to a fast food joint for the family and enjoy a nice sit down meal. Kristina at the Van Nuys location is a gem. She has been working there as long as I can remember and she is always serving with a smile. She is a kind hearted person that makes you feel like family. I visited NORMS on October 12, 2024, so pretty recently. I enjoyed dining here! I walked in and made a reservation for 2, a friend was with me. It was packed so I thought the wait times would be long (calling out IHOP) but it took about 10 minutes to get a table! Fast seating service. It was like 9:30 a.m. when we dined. The dining room felt nice, comfortable, and amazing. Great decorations to me! They gave us a lot of menus so I got confused for a bit but I figured it out. We had an amazing waitress! I did not get her name though, but she was an older waitress and funny! I ordered a coffee, a water, and got the Sirloin Stake Bigger Better Breakfast with hashbrowns. The steak was cooked perfectly, I ordered it Well Done. I have one issue with my food however, the eggs were requested OVER EASY, but they didn't come over easy. My friend also ordered over easy and they weren't over easy either. Other than that, the food was amazing! Might be dining there again, not sure yet. Come give it a try! We ordered the fish and chips and they were crispy and hot. We ordered the eggs Benedict, which were good with big pieces of ham. We also ordered the value meal which comes with a drink,half a sandwich ( i got the BLT, which was delicious with plenty of bacon) and also I got the gumbo soup and the Caesar salad. Our server was Kristina with a K and she was super sweet and personable. She took care of us like we were family and got our orders perfectly. As soon as we ordered, we quickly received our salads and soups and our drinks! The hostess was also nice when we walked in and made us feel welcome. They played big band type music as we enjoyed our food giving this diner a nostalgic feel. Food was priced fairly and was good overall experience for the first time being there. The cotton candy lemonade had an interesting taste to it in a good way. The ambiance is nice cozy feel with customers around similar to Denny's. Parking is available in the back of the diner and also a few spaces on the street in front of the diner. My only issues were the restroom cleanliness at the time didn't look to be clean. As well as the service it was fair for the amount of people that were there, but it felt like the server was rushing us to leave giving us the bill even though we planned to order dessert. It all started with our gracious hostess (her middle name was Grace) who gave us a warm welcome and handed us over to "best server ever" Kristina who kindly informed us of new offerings on the menu, from where we ordered the new, tasty, and sumptuous Chicken Parmigiana and old time favorite Liver & Onions (so glad you brought this one back!); but we started with bowls of zesty gumbo. Well, the Norm's experience is/was not complete without a dessert. Our choice: Ice cream schooner, custom-prepared to our wishes by lovely Kristina, along with two cups of coffee (regular and decaf). We were really happy with the quality of the food, service and price; and looking around at the full restaurant, we were not the only ones enjoying a good time. Food quality stays the same, service is normal, ambience is always busy. This restaurant has been there for over 50 yrs. The price of the food on the menu has gone up (naturally due to inflation) but the quality remains the same. They still serve Steak with free soup and salad. I had New York cut steak with veggies and baked potatoes butter and cream (loaded) but I had minestrone soup and green garden salad with Caesar dressing. After finishing the soup and eating up 1/2 of the salad comes my New York cut steak. Oh what a delight!!
