Norms seems to be thing of nostalgia for most folks. The idea of it. The look of it. The prices. I've been going to various Norms since I was sixteen and let me tell you that was not recently, oh no, that was not recently. The was back in the mid-1960s is when that was. The food was always "okay." It was cheap and if one was in college you couldn't do better than Norms for cheap. I haven't been in years because the food is just "okay." I always want it to be better, but it just isn't, even when they opened the failed Norms near Encino. Anyway, let's get to it. I may pay a visit to this one - might be better in person. As it is, I had a hankerin' for a patty melt and I figured that would be a good Norms thing to order, so I did via DoorDash. I'll just say, it doesn't travel well. It was okay but it would have been better freshly served in person. So, bottom line is go there - don't DoorDash it. That's the bottom line. Actually, it literally IS the bottom line of this review. That's cute. read more

Dinner with my girlfriends. We were seated right away upon arriving. The restaurant wasn't that busy. It has been a while since the last time we were together for breakfast or dinner. We decided to go here for the $5.99 menu. But what a disappointment though. They didn't have the Ribs. According to our server Serena, it is popular so it gets finished fast. Since we are already here, we opted to other dishes from the $5.99 Menu and the 4 course meal. Starts at $12.99. Food: All recommended Chicken Tenders $5.99 Garlic Parmesan Fettuccine Alfredo $5.99 Fish and Chips (4 course meal) $12.99 Our orders came out fast which is good because we were all starving. I was happy with my Chicken Tenders. Piping hot, tasty and delicious. As well as the fries. I finished it in no time. I can tell my friends liked their food too. They devoured it except a piece of fish. My friend had too much so she can't finish them. We shared the strawberry shortcake - part of the 4 course meal. It was okay. First time here to try the $7 menu. Lot of parking but kind of tight and needs to be repaved. What can I say, I am a fan of diners with breakfast anytime lol. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs, bread and hashbrowns. Its a lot! Chicken fried steak was fine but the sauce was a bit pasty. Hashbrowns were a little dry but ok. Our server was nice. Been comming to Norms for years. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. This is one of the best places to grab a good meal at a reasonable price. I can spend less than going to a fast food joint for the family and enjoy a nice sit down meal. Kristina at the Van Nuys location is a gem. She has been working there as long as I can remember and she is always serving with a smile. She is a kind hearted person that makes you feel like family. Huge fan of their gumbo soup, hits home on cold day. Their coffee is coffee, not this fancy stuff, yet it's so good. Can't beat their soup,salad, half a sandwich with a drink special. read more

I have been coming to norms since I was just a little girl and it is still one of my favorite places to visit. Love the service we get at the counter. Maria is amazing. She takes great care of my two girls and I. For some reason people don't like the counter, so we always just walk in and sit down. Otherwise, this place can be crowded with a wait. It's not too noisy, so you can still have a conversation while eating. Food is good, just what you would expect from a diner. I like the vegetarian omelette or the tuna melt. The hash browns, fries, and onion rings are all tasty. My daughters like the steaks and hamburgers. read more

Normally I love Norms. This location SUCKS. The manager that was working 3-23-25 at 11pm also SUCKS. You all better watch how you order your food! The server screwed up my friends order and they were asses about it and to make things worse, they charged her as separate items instead of as one of their MANY combos. Every diner I have ever been to, when it comes to figuring out what I wanted has always help to point out which combo would be best. Not this guy. When it was pointed out to them they played stupid and instead of doing the right thing they stuck to their guns. Well guess what, I will be happy to tell every single person I know NOT to come here and I'm going to try to contact corporate right after this. Basically I see it as check stuffing so he could get a better tip and the manager just lazy and useless. read more

Oh how this place has died down, from it's service, to it's food, and to it's management. Came in on Tuesday night, no acknowledgement from the floor manager when asking to place an order for take out. Asked a server if I could place a order with her, Serena, said no... she was off for the night. Although, as I stayed did see she was still working her shift. On Saturday, November 29, 2025, I placed an online order from Norms, and unfortunately this has become a pattern with my recent visits. Lately, every time I pick up food from this location, it has been cold, greasy, and just poorly prepared. Even the Pepsi bottles have been warm multiple times. Yesterday I ordered the mini dogs, and they didn't include the sauce that normally comes with it. The fries were cold, the Pepsi was warm again, and the burger patty did not taste fresh at all. Overall the meal was disappointing. I've gone to Norms for many years, and I even have family members who worked there when I was a kid. The quality has dropped badly. Customer service is not the same either--you see employees standing around talking while customers wait. The welcoming atmosphere that Norms used to have is gone. Before, they would greet you, seat you right away, and even online pickup orders were handled with care. Now employees look like they don't want to be there. What happened to Norms? I hope they bring back the quality and service that made them great for so many years. read more

The food is always delicious, I got the open face turkey, it was perfect. Their menu is very large so there is always something for everyone. Even when they are slammed with two hour waits and the servers are running around at full steam, they are still so friendly and polite and fun. Our server Kristina was great, she was attentive, made sure we got everything we needed, and was very much on top of her job. A++ job, thank you! read more

This eatery provided excellent customer service, thanks to Margarita. Horseless Carriage Restaurant was busy and plenty of people dining. As soon as we walked in Margarita welcomed us and walked us to our booth. She made some suggestions and informed us of their famous plates on the menu. We decided to try our her recommendations. We ordered Carne Asada Skillet Special, Sunny Side Special Burger with Fries and 2 orders of Fish & Chips. Food was yummy. The Carne Asada Skillet Special was served on a sizzling plate. It's was more than enough for one person. The Sunny Side Burger with Fries is huge and plentiful. Patty was tender and not overcooked nor undercooked. It was the right temperature. Fish N' Chips was also on point. We can't wait to come back and try other food items on Horseless Carriage Restaurant's menu.

One of the best things about this place is how quickly we're seated - almost every visit, we're able to get a table right away. The food is always delicious, and the waffles are definitely a standout - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just overall satisfying. Another favorite of mine Country Fried Steak. The gravy sauce is tasty and the steak itself is very good. Coupled with hash browns and 2 eggs - it's a great dish. Service is another highlight here. The staff is friendly and attentive, coffee and water refills are constant, and the food comes out quickly without feeling rushed. Parking right next to the restaurant can be a bit limited, but there's usually plenty of street parking nearby, so it's manageable. One unique thing I really enjoy is that it's connected to Galpin Ford. It's actually pretty fun to walk through the showroom and check out the cars while waiting for a table or even after finishing your meal. Overall, it's a reliable and enjoyable brunch spot with great food, solid service, and a unique atmosphere. Definitely a place we'll keep coming back to.

My eggs were cooked right, the bacon was crispy without being brittle, and the hash browns were perfect. Definitely worth it! My friends got the Very Berry French toast and the Chilaquiles Divorciados. They both said theirs were delicious as well. The ambience of the restaurant is clean and nice. There's seating indoors and outdoors, we chose to eat inside. The waiter checked on us a few times to make sure we were still doing okay, and we never felt rushed. If it gets too hot or cold, they also have seating inside an old train car that is purely counters only. We sat inside the train car, but the only caveat is that people are constantly going in/out and they sometimes leave the door open. They also have a water station inside the train car if you want to cool off. My wife and I both ordered the Kickin' "Nashville" Hot Chicken Sandwich and we shared the Loaded Waffle-Cut Fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time - if you're dining there, the employees bring out your food wherever you are and provide plastic utensils along with sauces. The hot chicken sandos live up to their namesake, packing quite a kick! The loaded waffle fries hit the spot. If you're in NoHo looking for some good chicken & waffles, Bruxie will satisfy!
