History
Established in 2026.
Our story began with La Tapatia, built around unapologetically authentic Mexican street food, genuine hospitality, and a commitment to doing things the right way. We carried that philosophy into our sister restaurant, La Madre, creating a different expression of Mexican food and culture while staying rooted in quality, hospitality, and community.
Nokomis House is our next chapter. Located at 54th & Chicago in South Minneapolis, it brings those same values to a neighborhood restaurant focused on familiar favorites, thoughtful drinks, and an agave-forward bar that pays homage to our Mexican roots.
Across all our restaurants, our philosophy is simple: make great food with care, treat people with warmth and respect, support our community, and create places people are proud to return to again and again.
Meet the Business Owner: Abraham P.
A self-taught restaurateur with deep Mexican roots, Abe built his restaurant career from the ground up, believing that great hospitality starts with authenticity, generosity, and respect for the community.
His journey began with La Tapatia, celebrating the Mexican street food and flavors he grew up with, and continued with La Madre, a sister concept offering its own expression of Mexican food, culture, and hospitality. With Nokomis House, he brings that same philosophy to a neighborhood restaurant built around familiar food and thoughtful drinks.
Across each concept, his approach remains simple: do things with intention, take care of people, never compromise on quality, and build restaurants that become meaningful parts of the communities they serve.
