One of my favorite places to eat! Atmosphere is always inviting food is always on point and the staff is one of the friendliest in the Great State of Alabama. If more than 2 of you going make sure you get a reservation a couple days in advance if not sit at the bar and get some personal service. Ate here about a week ago with some friends. I've been wanting to try this place out because I heard so many good reviews. The atmosphere is a bit classy but very relaxing. We had a 2 year old with us, but luckily she was well behaved and the staff was very sweet to her. We didn't have to wait to be seated. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. We got to enjoy the Foie gras, crab fritters, lamb chop plate, duck plate and the panko crusted bass. All was cooked very well, medium. The lamb needed more seasoning but was still fantastic to eat. This is one nice spot. Small and quaint. The food was delightful. They have a menu you choose from that you pick your appitizer, salad, and entree due to covid. We live in New Orleans and eat at all the top restaurants, both there and around the world. We were in Mobile for one night and sat at the bar. We ordered the scallops and pan seared Queen Snapper with mushroom risotto. Both were EXCELLENT. Perfectly cooked with a great crusty sear. Sauces A+. Fresh and refined flavors (as opposed to relying on salt and butter). The design/font on the menu gives off a less than high end impression, and there are no fancy cocktail names. Don't let that fool you - at least what we ordered was superb, including the torte and ginger donut for dessert. Bartender Allison gave us great service. Vibe/atmosphere was perfect. read more

Great meal experience. Came here for a work dinner. Three courses for $65 is decent in todays despicably inflated economy. The shrimp and scallops and grits appetizer was delightful. Full of flavor and the shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked. The grits were creamy and delicious, and I usually don't like grits but these were fantastic. I got the spinach salad and it came with tons of bacon and dressing. The dressing might've been a little on the heavy side because it was almost too flavorful, but nonetheless good. I probably could've been full after having just these two items - I wish it was available a La carte instead of pre fixe. I got the hangar steak for the main entree and it was good, but definitely not as good as the appetizer or salad. The Brussel sprouts were delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was good. Overall, I would come back next time I'm in Mobile but I do wish I could've ordered things a la carte. I have a pretty big appetite and I was stuffed, for a non-obese woman or a man that isn't very hungry, it would probably be too much food. read more

Enjoyed my birthday dinner here last night. I was very excited about this restaurant after reading so many excellent Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed! First off, the restaurant ambiance is very cozy, warm, romantic. It's small and intimate. The service was excellent. The dinner consisted of a 3 course Prix Fix type menus where you pick an appetizer, salad and entree for $65. Food was very delicious, but quite rich. This is NOT the place to go if you are trying to watch your figure or be health conscious. I had the butternut squash soup (Devine! ), fall salad (good not amazing) and lamb (delicious, huge and perfectly done). My boyfriend had shrimp, scallops and grits (excellent), same salad, and Salmon (very good). Side veggies of mashed potatoes (good), fingerling potatoes (very good), Brussels sprouts (too salty, not crisp enough) and squash/carrots (too mushy, too much fat and salt). We ordered ginger donut with popcorn ice cream, as the waiter said it was the top seller. It was interesting, tasty, but not mind blowing. Not something I'd order again. read more

Normally am quite sckeptical of any place claiming "fusion" NoJa lists a southern Mediterranean fusion and the chef is of Ethiopian decent so was not sure what to expect . There are many ways that mix could go wrong but NoJa has it exactly right Starters were amazing, had the foiegras, pork cheeks, and shrimp-scallops, all extremely well.done and paired well to set the pallet for the mains Duck over grits wity cherry basalmic reduction and kale was fantastic. Others had the pecan cruster grouper special and loved it. Had a table side order of brussel sprouts which also amazing Home ginger doughnut and ice desert was really amazing Dining area was comfortable and not cramped despite being a small venue, nice round table for large group which is very social Service staff was excellent !! Went for a corporate dinner and I found the place acceptable. We had been eating much of the day at a corporate event so I wasn't starving, but I would consider the overall plates small. I ordered one of the specials which was scallops with a type of green mixed in on a purée of something. Sorry I forgot what the waitress said. All in all the portion was perfect for what I wanted. I wasn't overstuffed after eating it and it was tasty. Excellent food wine selection as well. If you are staying ok downtown Mobile this place is walking distance to the hotels in the general area. NoJa is in downtown Mobile on Jackson St. Just go. Everything single thing we had was wonderful, from start to finish. NoJa is small, with only about a dozen tables so make a reservation. If you wait until it's a bit cooler you might want to dine in their beautiful little courtyard in the back. Warm and comfortable with a brick and history motif, it has an open kitchen where I think they literally make magic. The bread and tomato-herb infused butter was a great start. We shared the sous vide pork belly, and crab fritters, which were both just incredible. Shrimp bisque was on point. The Ethiopian Chicken, Duck with aged balsamic cherry reduction, Panko Cobia with ginger-miso sauce, down to every single vegetable, was excellent. They take this restaurant very seriously. I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. It's the best restaurant I ate at while I was in Mobile for work. The shrimp and grits here are out of this world- They get their shrimps fresh from the gulf coast nearby. The outdoor patio is soooo cute and a perfect place for a date! read more

Excellent. There's a $65 prix fixe menu including appetiser, salad and entree. Paulina was our server and she was the perfect mix of friendly but not hovering. She was there to refill a drink and the courses came out with perfect, almost too quick timing. We started with the scallops and the chicken karaage. Both were excellent. The burrata and spinach salads also both held up well, with the burrata being perfectly creamy and not overwhelmed with the balsamic drizzle. The spinach salad is slightly heavy on the bacon. For entrees, the panko crusted fish was nice, a little under salted, but with the brussel sprouts it melded well. The noja potatoes are interesting. A mix of sweet and white potatoes. Hanger steak was perfectly cooked and tender. We finished with the ginger doughnut. Interesting but not something I would get again. The ginger doughnut leaned more toward savory than sweet. I can now say that I have tried popcorn ice cream. read more

I had the Panko crusted fish (forgot the species but it was deep water and flakey) with NoJa mashed potatoes & Brussels sprouts. My wife had the filet mignon with the potatoes and the zucchini noodles. Both entrees were great. The dessert was very ok (donut with ice cream) but there were others on the menu that seemed like they'd be great. Great specialty drinks as well - I had the 6 N Jackson.
