When it arrived, it looked great until he picked it up to take a bite and this plate filled with blood. The burger was rare at best. The server was as shocked as we were and quickly removed the plate. Unfortunately, the second try was still not medium well. It was somewhere between medium rare and rare. Finally, a young gentleman came from the restroom area and he greeted us and he was a very nice and very conscientious server. I had steak and shrimp. We had firecracker wraps in the beginning and the food was delicious. Darian was our server and he did a fabulous job. Now the reason I gave three stars, I have been in the food industry for over 35 years and I have always believed that customer service is the most important aspect of any servers job. Sitting there for six minutes without one person saying a word was uncalled for. When a host seats you, she is to make sure that that server knows he has a table, that is how I trained my hostesses. When other servers pass a table that they can clearly see no one has approached, they too are responsible for making sure that these customers have been spoken to. We are all supposed to be team players. There was absolutely no team playing in that whole scenario. I don't blame Darian. I blame everybody else.

My server, Braxton, greeted me with a warm smile and stayed attentive throughout the entire meal--he made me feel like a VIP. I ordered the petite filet, cooked medium-rare to absolute perfection. It arrived quickly, and each bite was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sweet potato casserole surprised me--in general, I avoid sugary sides, but this was so worth it. Briquettes offers a fantastic range of sides, and I went with the grilled broccoli. The char from the grill gave it an extra pop of flavor, a perfect complement to the steak. They even brought out complementary rolls that were delightfully soft and warm. I judge restaurants by their iced tea, and theirs was spot on--refreshing, ideal for a hot Alabama summer. The veggies were cooked just right, and the added bonus of horseradish on the side took my meal to the next level. I actually finished every last bite--a rare occurrence for me! This isn't a bougie, reservation-only steakhouse like you find in big cities. It's a laid-back, hometown gem where you can pull up, park, walk in, and enjoy an outstanding meal without breaking the bank. The waiter came over several times and never asked why I wasn't eating it. When I asked for the check, he asked if I wanted a box to go and I told him no way. I also tried their Bison Burger which I ordered medium and it arrived with charred, burned and very crunchy meat on the outside but better on the inside with a side of charred and burned green beans... I will be sticking with the food on the Manci's Antique Club side! Ultimately the food on the Manci's side is far superior to me. The same folks that own Callaghan's Irish Social Club in Mobile have taken over Manci's and added the pizza addition of Buster's Brick Oven. Overall this is a great neighborhood spot which gives you the choice of the more "upscale" pizza side or the more classic dive bar side with different menus available in each. We had an impromptu bridal lunch yesterday with my niece. We had a table full of generations of…read morefamily girls to celebrate with her. It was so fun for all of us to be together. We told stories and laughed through lunch. We had the absolute very best waiter named Alex. He was truly amazing. He superbly took care of each one of us. When he brought out the checks, he handed my niece a card and she began to cry. She soon passed the card around and we were all crying. Alex had handwritten a long note to her, giving her the best and most thoughtful words about marriage. He encouraged the new couple to always keep God in their home, let God lead your life and they would be blessed. We were all 100% amazed and all blessed beyond measure by the words he shared.
