Tonight we had a group dinner while in town on a business trip. There were 9 in our group and Chris was our waiter. He took very good care of us and explained the specials as well as some of the dishes they were known for. He also made sure we knew that they were featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. We started with the Seared Tuna Nachos, Sautéed Mussels and Fried Crab Claws (not on the menu). I didn't try the Nachos, but the Sautéed Mussels and Fried Crab Claws were great. For my entree, I had the Blackened Gulf Snapper Throats. They were excellent. For beer with the appetizers I had the Southern Prohibition Devil's Harvest IPA and for my cocktail with dinner, I had the Apple of My Eye. It was delicious. read more

Food was great! Had the Snapper throats. However, a couple came in with a small dog! The staff allowed them to sit at a table! The dog sat on a cushion, in a chair. The dog's food/water bowl was placed on the table. I told the wait staff that this was totally unacceptable; also, a health violation! Waitress said she would talk to the manager. Nothing was done! Again, I asked why they didn't escort the couple to the outside patio, where there was plenty of room! Another staff member said they couldn't ask the couple about the status of the dog! Wow! I guess dogs are more important than paying guests in this establishment! What a total disgrace and disgusting disappointment! This restaurant was featured on Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives! I go to Sunset point often and always have a great meal. My favorite thing to order is the grilled grouper sandwich. Always good service and the people there are very nice. The location is awesome looking out at the boats. read more

Lunch on Saturday - ate on the deck. View of marina is great and service from James was top notch. Started with some of the seasonal cocktails. The Apple of my Eye was very good if you like bourbon. The Midnight Reserve is made with rum and was a bit too minty. For lunch I had the seafood lettuce wraps. The proteins were all cooked well but combined with the veggies and condiments, it missed the mark being mediocre at best. Hubby had the fish wrap (fried) and it was very good. Fries were okay but not great. Over all, this place tries to be an upscale "yacht club" vibe but need to work on some basics in taste. read more

We arrived around 3 pm and they were still quite busy. We were able to sit outside on a the waterfront with the majority of the guests. We were immediately greeted by our server Thomas and he did not disappoint. My friend had the grouper burger and he said it was blackened and seasoned real well and the lettuce and tomato were fresh. He and I both found the Cole slaw okay. It was a marinade with peppers and onions. I would eat it again but if something else was offered I think I would choose it. The sweet potato chips were cold when they arrived on my plate but we both agree that we think that served hot they would be good. My fish were served hot and fried to perfection! I will definitely order them again!! We had the chocolate strawberry cake for dessert and it was okay not one I would order again. The four stars is because the chips were cold. This is the kind of place that feels like the locals know about and they aren't sharing. It was great. Since today was a bit rainy, we chose to sit indoors. The room is slightly cluttered like your quirky aunt's ranch house, and the chairs were a bit less than comfortable. It was full of people who knew their servers names and greeted each other with warmth. Service was friendly and our drinks were refilled on time. We had the brunch menu. How delightful to sit outside, sip wine, eat good food at Sunset Pointe in Fairhope. The bar menu is EXTENSIVE! But this isn't just a place to drink while you watch the sun set. The food menu offers variety, and when I visit a restaurant, I always look to see if they have good choices for the Kiddos, and here they do. Inside is nice, but the patio gives you the opportunity to feel the breeze and see the marina and bay. And the service outside is the same as indoors. My favorite two items on the menu are snapper throats (when in season) and the ahi tuna; but, there are also salads, burgers, great sandwiches, and good starters and sides. This a great restaurant for your seafood cravings. They do have few land base food but very limited. I map this out for the marina. It took me on the other side of the marina. I would definitely recommend mapping the restaurant. It located in heat of downtown Fairview. East of Mobile. Found out this was on triple D (food network) and Alabama rates this restaurant as one of the best in the state. This is a small but wonderful place with a beautiful view of the Gulf of America. You are welcome by a front hostess. Our hostess ask us would we like to dine in outside or inside. Definitely recommend outdoor dining when weather permits. Great views of the gulf! We opted for indoor dining. She quickly sat us down. Our server greeted us with a friendly hello and asked what we would start off with for appetizer and drinks. We quickly started our food journey with the kamikazi chicken ( fried chicken, soy lime jalapeno glaze, sesame seeds ) . I know it came with jalapeno glaze. Honestly, was not spicy at all. Actually the sauce is pretty good! Of course, washed down with a fresh brew glass of sweet tea. As for the actual meals. We got the Sunset point burger ( two chuck patties, bacon, pimento cheese, caramelized red onion, brioche) and opted for the fresh French fries. Leo's seafood lettuce wraps ( grilled shrimp, scallops, calamari, red onions, red and yellow peppers, citrus vinaigrette, lemon aioli). Round off the meal with the Gulf Coast Grilled Shrimp ( grilled, garlic butter house vegetable, house starch). The seating inside was very comfortable like sitting in outdoor wicker chairs. Gotta be honest - when we drove up and walked in, I hesitated. The inside of the restaurant is, well, rustic to put it nicely. Scenery and table locations create virtually no ambience and the burlap-like window screens limit the view of the boats in the marina and the beautiful sunset beyond. But once we took the risk to go outside on the back deck/patio into the melting July heat, we discovered that the many fans are very effective at offsetting the evening heat. And our great experience just started from there.... First, the food -- the ahi tuna nachos were an unusual, tasty appetizer; the amberjack special entree served on orzo and asparagus was outstanding (thick, steak-cut piece of fish...perfect texture and moisture level), and the key lime pie served in a jar...oh my, outstanding! And the service -- we got the pleasure of being served by James, who was readily available, attentive without being overbearing, funny, informative, and hustled the whole evening serving several tables on the outdoor deck area. He was a top-5 experience for us this entire year with his hard work, engaging personality, and very helpful insight into various dishes while we made selections as first-time guests. On top of all of that, he is a gentleman. As he made a delivery to our table near the end of our visit and not very long from closing time, he noticed one of the other servers or hostesses standing in a chair and struggling to lower the umbrella at a nearby table for the evening. He suddenly darted away with a quick "I'll be right back" and jumped in to help her. When he came back to our table, I complimented his hustle and work ethic and he commented that he just didn't want to see her having to fight with it when he could easily help her out. Given me 10 guys like James at my business and I'll hire them all. He's a winner and helped make our first visit to Sunset Pointe memorable. We'll be back! read more

Came here after seeing the Triple D episode. I ordered an app of the crab meatballs. These were good and had a nice remoulade sauce. Only 3 came to an order for $19 so that was a bit disappointing but they were good. Then I got the Eastern Shore Bouillabaisse since that's what Guy Fieri had. It was alright but the broth didn't have that much flavor and way too many huge cuts of onions. The shrimp in it was good but could find just as good anywhere else in the area. Sunset Pointe is one of our favorite local places in our community and the food is only one of the reasons. Folks, the location and view is incredible. Sit outside at sunset and you will not be disappointed. They really have a great setup and vibe. The crew here is a big reason we always love coming back. They take care of you and are actually the kind of people that enjoy doing what they do. And that really matters. We have never had a bad experience and every staff member has been good to us, but tonight on my date night with my wife, Brittany and Olivia really stood out. They kept us laughing and made the whole time great. Now... what you are waiting for... the food... Everything I have ever had here is great. However, if I were to give you a few recommendations, try the Roasted Cauliflower, Sunset Pointe salad with Seared Tuna is perfection! The portions are so amazing. I love their Mussels so much, yum! Had a fantastic lunch here, dining al fresco on a breezy and rainy early spring afternoon. It was probably too cold to dine outdoors, but there were no tables available inside and we were tired from driving, and hungry. The view was amazing!! As we dined, the rain blew away and by the time we were leaving the sun was out and it had warmed up nicely. There is a lot of shade and nice landscaping around the patio, so it was such a lovely experience and would be in almost any weather except very cold or stormy. All of the food was superb, and the service was too. Sunset Pointe Burger and the Grouper Sandwich were the favorites among the group. Service was so good!
