Excellent service and food on a busy night. Too often steaks are overcooked and dry. My buddy Chuck and I each ordered the steak medium. It was perfect. Fries were excellent with crunch on the outside and perfect in the center, firm but moist enough. My Martini was very good with delectable blue cheese stuffed olives. Our wives were most satisfied with their selections as well. Great chef! Even on a busy night, we were able to talk in the midst of a full restaurant. Overall, a successful night with televisions to keep up with our football teams and an atmosphere of happy patrons and a comfortable ambiance. read more

I had high hopes for Southwood but my expectations were not met. Stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday. First the good: excellent service. Good margaritas, great fries, good Blackened Shrimp Bahn Mi. The not so good. My husband ordered the House Ground Burger, medium well. When it arrived, it looked great until he picked it up to take a bite and this plate filled with blood. The burger was rare at best. The server was as shocked as we were and quickly removed the plate. Unfortunately, the second try was still not medium well. It was somewhere between medium rare and rare. One miss I can overlook but not twice. read more

I'm so glad we were able to eat here while visiting Fairhope. The food is excellent, it definitely lived up to the hype. We had the pimento cheese with the pork rinds. The pork rinds were the best I've ever had. They must be making them to order because they were warm and still popping. We couldn't finish them and hated to leave them behind. I had the wreck fish and my husband had the diver scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly and there were several on the plate. We've ordered scallops another places and you usually only get about 3, 4 if you're lucky. I had never had wreck fish before and it was quite tasty. We wanted the king cake bread pudding but they ran out. We ended up with the blueberry cobbler. Not really my thing but my husband enjoyed it. read more

We can't say enough amazing things about this restaurant. The food is incredible and the service is always on point. Across the alley they have SouthBar which also serves from the kitchen if you are unable to get a reservation in the restaurant. We ate at Southwood last week and everything was delicious. We ordered the Pork and Watermelon for an app and the Diver Scallops as our meal. My 13 year old ordered the filet, and she gobbled it up! Service was great making our experience incredible. Amazing food and service! Elk tenderloin is the best piece of meat east of the Mississippi River!

A wonderful meal and terrific service by Brittany. Our reservation was for Friday at 6:15. The parking lot was pretty full but easy parking. The hostess greeted us and brought us straight to our table in a room in the back of the restaurant. The crowd noise was not bad, it was easy for us to have table talk. We started with beer and wine as well as the lobster and shrimp potstickers. The sauce was awesome and had slices of jalapenos with a very good amount of heat. We loved this appetizer and in fact, we asked for some grilled bread to sop up the extra sauce. Next she ordered the airline chicken with mash potatos and greenbeans, a classic dish for sure and it did not dissapoint, she loved her entree. I had the shrimp and grits with conecuh sausage, this was a very tasty dish and the portion size was perfect. Too many restaurants pile on the grits. This left room for dessert, we had the creme brulee cheesecake, this was very light and tasty, crispy topping and the blueberries were a great added flavor. Tonight was a huge success. My favorite Luncheon restaurant. Everything good, but Tomato Basil Pesto Salmon is the best, as well as the small Filet. My "go to" for visitors and girlfriend lunches. Ate here twice on our last visit to the Alabama coast. Food and service were both top notch! First time I had the French dip sandwich which was probably the best I've ever had and my husband had the steak with fries. He really enjoyed it! On our next visit I had the black and blue steak salad and it was so so good. They steak was well seasoned and tender and their house made blue cheese dressing was phenomenal! The shrimp and grits were so delicious, full of deep flavors, and rich. It was spiced just right. The salad was incredibly fresh, and tasted right from the farm. Teres Major insanely flavorful awesome dish! Elk tenderloin was another 10/10 dish 0 game taste whatsoever! BBQ shrimp another dish we will get again when we go back. The chicken wings were awesome just tiny probably wouldn't get again but 100% good taste. The amberjack dish was good not great not bad. Fish had a good flavor but the meal sat in a pool of a tomato soup kind of deal and was just too over powering and I'm a huge tomato lover. The smores bread pudding was another awesome dish that we would 100% get again. Ended up walking out after waiting over an hour for food. The waitress never sent our order in and then just didn't want to make eye contact. Was a good way to spend a 10 year anniversary! Owner called when he got back in town and said he was "going to make it up to us" and send us a gift card to earn our business back so we would come back in ... the gift card must be with the food that was never made because it was never sent either. Guess we should take the hint and start going else where. We have enjoyed this place 3-4 times always it was always the "go to" place for special occasions. After a bad experience with them the owner made it right. He hand delivered a gift card to my house and really took ownership. It's rare that someone cares about the customers as much as he does. A postal error is why it was never received and he even did what he could to make that right. read more

We've been there before with no issues. Southwood was kind enough to cancel our reservation tonight because of an emergency situation.

Food - delicious Service - stellar Ambiance - underwhelming We made reservations. We were seated in a booth (strike one), near the bar (strike two). The booth was low, uneven, and uncomfortable (strike three). We ordered drinks (fairly priced), an appetizer (it was okay), and dinner (don't get hyped about the duck fat mashed potatoes; they are tasty but not earth shattering. It is a nice place to have a drink and hang with friends, but I don't quite understand the frenzy surrounding this establishment for the past two years or so. For what we spent and the occasion, I'd prefer to go somewhere with a nicer atmosphere. read more

Food is excellent. We have always been sat in the back room, usually we are with friends and it has been perfect. The pork belly watermelon appetizer is incredible. I usually do not order steak out, my husband makes a fantastic steak, but the ribeye is melt in your mouth good. Definitely one of our favorite spots. read more

Wonderful experience for us tonight for our first dinner out to Southwood. It was a very well put together restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. We had the duck and of course the elk steak, both were tremendous! We started with a bone marrow and steak tartare which was also very delicious. Tonight was date night! Boy was it the best in a long while!! The service was superb! We started with pork rinds and pimento cheese was absolutely the best! I'm mean who does fresh pork rinds?! Here!! They continued to pop throughout dinner!!! The wine recommendations were on point for both appetizers and dinner! Hubs had the pork shank! Touched with a fork and fell off the bone! I had the medallions and they were fork tender even at med rare!! We packed up a lot of food but of course being us we saved room for dessert! Croissant bread pudding ..... no words!
